Epiphyllums are also called orchid cacti. They are technically a jungle cactus which is why the label said cacti.

Just fyi, I've only had success with my heart leaf fern by keeping it soaked, not moist, absolutely drenched!! I'm in zone 13b, Puerto Rico, and it's still difficult. Adjust to your parameters, but they don't like drying out even a little bit.

I literally may as well grow mine in water I keep it so wet!

I've had to do the same thing with my fittonia! If I don't absolutely drench it or if I let it dry out the slightest bit it goes completely flat.

I’ve been having the same problem with heart ferns and I’m on my 4th. What I’ve discovered is that the best thing to do, is water it like a violet from the bottom. So like twice a week, I fill a bowl and put the pot right it and soak it for like 20+ minutes. I’ve noticed that the leaves don’t curl and dry up when I do this. Hope this helps! 😊❤️ love ya

That is a curly orchid cactus! I have one and it bloomed 4 pretty white flowers last year. The fruits ripened and the seeds sprouted inside because we forgot to harvest them sooner. So I planted the sprouts I could save and now I have some tiny babies growing! It’s a cool plant. They’re easy. Just give it lots of light and they don’t require much water at all.

Omgggg i LOVE epiphyllum, i have a few different species but i haven’t been able to find the curly one yet!! congratulations 🥳🌱
@tams74114 жыл бұрын
The epiphyllum is actually a cactus! A jungle cactus to be specific. Rhipsalis and zygocactus are other examples of jungle cacti (I have a massive soft spot for jungle cacti)! (I think it's a cactus specifically because it has phyllodes [stems modified to act as leaves by having chlorophyll]. But the phyllodes thing is a guess [since I THINK other succulents have actual leaves, and cacti have the phyllodes?].)

Holy crap I'm so jealous of these plants! My Lowe's and Home Depot have nothing! No Monsteras let alone an Epiphyllum! I had to just buy 2 little cuttings from the Plant Farm, which then I have to root myself, but hey I get to learn! And I'm going to buy a whole bunch of cuttings of them for my birthday to make one big pot. Girl such a good haul! That Lowe's card is getting workout but what amazing deals! ✌💟🌿

Actually they are cacti. Jungle cactus like the Christmas cactus or rhipsalis. But they don’t have spines. But it’s gorgeous 😍 jungle cactus are some of my favorite plants ever. It’s an epiphytic plant naturally but can do great in soil.

Cool plant shopping video and yes when you don't want to spend too much money on plants , that's the time you'll spend more 🤣😂🤣😂 The heart leaf fern loves humidity , it might thrive in a glass dome, some people just put a string or put it on s self-watering pots. I used to have one it was doing well in a terrarium until I introduced another fern and went downhill 😔. Good luck 👍

I think it's a mother of thousands. My (probable - it was unlabeled) mother of thousands thankfully has not been able to grow babies. She grows them on her leaves, they grow roots, but I don't have dozens of babies in the soil. She grows like a weed though...last year I chopped mine down into 2 sections. The original stem in the ground did nothing (phew?), the 2 pieces I cut off both rooted and have grown about a foot in a year. My original cutting from before that is almost 3 feet tall now. She's leaning against the wall cause her stem isn't strong enough. I need to chop her down...maybe I need to find a plant swap and trade 2 pieces of her for something a bit slower growing.

So, is that normal in America that you pick up things from shelves but not putting it back? I mean, you're making the work from those sellers ten time harder by making a mess that they have to clean up for you. I don't know, but in germany this is considered as really rude.
@PlantingAshley4 жыл бұрын
Ive never been told its not, and my friends who work in lowes and home depot have also never told me its an issue. I can barely get them off, i wouldnt b able to get them back on. Its not like theyre left in the middle of the floor, theyre where the other monsteras were that had already been offloaded onto the floor. Idk what to say man, its normal behaviour here.
