I love your videos and just jump happily when I see a new one but I do understand time pressures. I just wanted you to know how much your videos are appreciated. I have a 1 year old Djungarian hamster that is larger than the other dwarfs I see. She is easily hand held and also has a longer thinner face. I do live in Canada. She has gone from being plump to being longer now which I have to say has worried me as she is aging. However she is very active and eating and is by far the most loving hamster I have ever had. She does all sorts of antics until I pick her up and she gets her cuddles and then she goes about her merry hamster way. She is my little spark in my life. Thank you Munchie for all you do for these little ones.

I temporarily kept an injured baby mouse at my home for a couple hours and let me tell you, you are so under appreciated. The mouse was attacked by my friends cat and he was so tired we thought it was cruel to just leave him outside. I kept him for around 4 hours. He slept for two in a hamster cage I borrowed from my friend and I also bought him some mouse food and fed him milk and cheese. I was extremely stressed and worried about him and I will not be keeping any hamsters or mice in the future because of this. I love your videos!! I didn't know anything abt hamsters as I have never owned owned one and really never intended to, I just ran across your page abt 3 months ago. I'm so glad I did, my friend no longer wanted her hamster because they got a puppy and she informed me that if I didnt take it they would put it on craigslist posted as FREE and I couldn't bring myself to let that happen. So I now have what is believed to be a robot dwarf hamster in my care and doing good. He was housed in a critter trail and they blocked off the wheel at night bc it was too loud. When I got him I gave him a bin cage and then checked him over and found a lump on his tummy and his front foot was raw. The cage was nasty so I believe the sore was from his urine. After he settled down and let me handle him I figured out that the lump was a nasty infection resulting from a cut from his broke wheel he had. Sorry for the long story.... but long story short I'm glad munchi is here😊.

A week and a half ago I rescued 2 dwarfs. One male Russian and one female Robo in a single crittertrail together. I saw the add on Craigslist and picked them up a couple hours later. You wouldn’t even believe how bad it was... they had zero water, no wheel, and literally SANDPAPER for bedding. It’s not bad enough two species of hamsters were together in a tiny space with nothing to do. Currently I’ve just had them both in separate 10 gallons for the week, as I had to buy another enclosure to put them in. They’re both already looking better and within the next couple of days they will be getting approximately 800 square inches, like my other dwarfs have. Dunno what I’m doing with them yet, I have a ton of animals so I wasn’t planning on keeping them but I don’t know anybody around my area that would be able to care for them like I will and they deserve the best, coming from such horrible neglect. Probably will stay with me, I’m not complaining tho! Anyways, thank you for inspiring me to save lives!!

He had such a big head and big furry feet for a tiny little body. I wish there was a way to attach a picture. He was a little pearl that phased to solid white by his first winter.

The other day I was looking into pet adds on this local buying and selling page much like craigslist and ran upon this pet add selling a "mini hamster". From the pictures I saw she lived in HORRIBLE CONDITIONS and instantly felt the need to do something. For a week I kept going back to this add because I couldn't get the poor hammy out of my mind. Shr was a winter white about year old and lived in a tiny litter cage with too small of a wheel, no chew toys, ate birdseeds and they used this brightly colored bedding that feelt like cardboard basically. I don't know where they even got these supplies because we don't sell them in pets stores where I live. They had to go out pf their way to order these supplies online to torture the poor hammy. They only had her for couple months and were selling her supposedly because they didn't have time for her. I think it might have been because she's a biter. But that's only fair causr they didn't seem to be putting any effort in her. Her name is Siiri! She has the spunkiest personality I've seen a hamster have, ever! She looks me in the eye and seems to be very aware of her surroundings, very active. My plan going into this rescue mission was to foster her just so I can get her out of the situation. I paid quite a bit for her and the horrible cage with little food. To me this doesn't matter. As long as I had her out of there in my care where she is appreciated.

All pet store russians are hybrids, regardless of whether they’re sold as Campbells or Winter White/Djungarian. The two species were originally hybridised to create new patterns and colours such as Sunfire.
