Ah man, my heart sank, when I saw the Brute make a jerk move at the end of the Big Pull. Man you are Brave to take that on the chin. Your resilience is breathtaking. Even when your down your not out. You guys just dust yourselves down and get on with the job. OK, it broke. No shame. Let's get in fixed, Volia, the Brute is back on the road, proud as punch at 50mph flat out down to road to the next field that needs spraying. Awesome Dudes in Shelby Montana. Hats out to you guys. This reminds me on the first tracktorpulling in Holland in 1977. They invited the Americans: Les Houck there with his 800 hp machine (foxy lady) and Mark Stauffer with his Sneeky Pete. They did"nt expect that there were coming 20000 people to that little town to see that. We were early but many people did"nt even reach the spot because off the traffic chaos. Lateron we visited many pullings indoor and outdoor. I like it. Follow it a bit now on youtube. Amazing see them build the most incredible machines with 8000 hp!!

@WelkerFarms6 жыл бұрын
It was amazing how hard it pulled. That tow rope made it hard and the spikes that it used. If we had 10,000-15,000 lbs more it wouldn't have stopped. Also that spot it stopped in they had just watered down so it wasn't hard packed. That's why it started going again as it climbed out of the wet ground.

Funny how so many tactors break like that. Splines seem to be a big failure point. Splines do take a hell of a lot of force and even in school I remember no matter what we did it was always the failure point because making the splines larger ended up having the the shaft to be larger increasing weight and leading to other problems.

@AZdirtdog6 жыл бұрын
The fine spline axle might actually have the same torque capacity as that old course spline. The reason it runs smaller axles is the gear reduction at the hub, you shock loaded it at full power dropping to first under all the weight, that is one wicked transmission

Imagine he torque to twist the spline on the axle. Worked on Cummins for over 40 years, cranked up a KTA 600 to over 700 hp at the wheels and the engine literally twisted and destroyed the transmission gears, they were burnt and looked like slag from cutting torch. This happened in 1986 and cost 4700.00 for a new trans, customer was a power freak and was bragging about the power his engine had. Enjoyed your video, brings back many memories of super tuning engines. I drive through Shelby going to and from AZ maybe will have to stop and take a tour of your place.

Andy I am curious where you pulled that number from as it is far from accurate. Planting these buds burn 1/2-3/4 gal per acre. Compare that to new and you'll see it is very very similar.

Seems counterintuitive but the fine splines on the tractor axle actually makes them stronger than the similar sized coarse spline axle on the truck axle you compared it to.
