Big Cat Roar Tracker Knife ($55) Review - The Hunted Knife

My review of the BigCat Roar Black Jaguar Tracker Knife ($55) ( s71.co/3EH1Sbv ). They got all the many features and proportions correct, the edges and grinds on this are very well done. This is a very solid and cost effective version of the tracker design. Definitely one to consider if you want to try a tracker. I got the large Boker tracker recently but now I want this one too! With the thick spine and all that weight up front like a mini-kurki I could see a self defense role for trackers too- in addition to all the functions you showed us. Thanks again for your great reviews- I’m a daily fan. Finding Moderate priced knives and swords that are very good has been my biggest interest for a long time -which you always show us here!

Thank you for your support! Yeah this thing wants to slice deep, I had to be pretty careful cutting the meat, would definitely not want to be on the bad side of this blade.

Thanks for your reply and confirmation about the defense value of a tracker. I’m a senior with no martial arts or knife training, so for years been carrying a spyderco matriarch and a cold steel black talon, figuring just using those kind of knives that aren’t made for thrusting would work good to fend off- so when I got the Boker tracker I could feel the same ability to just do chopping moves in a jam.

This knife has capabilities, but I still very much enjoy the Spyderco Serrata! Bonus that Serrata is cast 440C. I found a cool small light butterfly knife last week by Boker but it came in D2, then I found out it USED to be made out of 440C and I couldn't buy one fast enough! I had to try for the 440C version in Europe and a Finland based dealer had it. I can hardly wait to receive it!

I picked up a TOPS' tracker about a decade ago at a gun show and that thing weighted more than a sack of potatoes. The TOPS is more expensive but it's built like a tank, as I remember, the TOPS' version was at least three times bigger also. 'The Big Cat Roar' Tracker don't seem too far behind though.👍

I just got this week mine from Amazon. Nothing to complain about. If you like tracker knives you can’t go wrong with this one at this price point (75€). I have been wanting to buy the JeoTec 51 for long but it is almost double the price right now

All it needs is a divot where the centre handle pin is to accommodate a bow-drill, just in case you lose your firesteel :). I like the tracker design but I've never been a fan of the 'sawback'. It would make a great skinner without the sawback. Those notches would catch or pick up a lot of crud from a carcass. This one is a great price for what it is. I'd buy one.

Boker just released a larger version of their tracker, but still in 1095 steel. 80CrV2 or 14C28N would have been really nice, or Sleipner.

Wow. Reminds me of "The Hunted" movie with Tommy Lee Jones & Benicio del Toro (pretty cool movie if you haven't seen it.) This type of knife is not my favorite but I see the utilitarian aspects of it & it has a place. Nice review buddy

What is your opinion on the Damascus version that they make of this knife? I tend to think Damascus blades steel is compromised and relegated to wall hangers but I want a second opinion since they are pretty.

Their Damascus would be a mixture of 1080 carbon steel and another steel that brings out the pattern, which is also roughly equivalent to 1080. So not quite as good as a 1095 knife, but probably just as good as the 1075 knives that Condor often makes.

the high fat and calorie content of pork belly may be unhealthy in normal situations but it will be great in a survival/ crisis situation

They almost had it perfect but they screwed up the skinning hook part .smh The weyland is gr8 but!!!! They screwed up the point bevel and made it short taking away the stabbing aspect. Smh you literally have to get a Tom brown tracker or a cheap metal one. I'm like is the cheap metal guys can get it right why can't d2 steel makers ??

I noticed alot of the remakes are calling it a "d2 steel blade" as a title and not for the steel but really 8cr13mov or less. I saw the bigcat comes with a d2 steel certificate so I pulled the trigger.
