Also, I have the Minix Geo G4 (got it after watching one of your reviews), but for some reason mines reboots/crashes maybe 3 times in a 4 hour span (mainly while watching Netflix). I can't see myself writing programs or even using basic Office software because off all of the intermittent rebooting. Maybe I need to update to a newer Android version (currently running the version that came with the device). Any advice?

Yes, I will be reviewing the Tronsmpart T428 which is the MK908 with a head sync. I agree it looks promising. It should be arriving in a week or three.

I thought mine was DOA at first too. I had to hold the power button on for 3 to 4 seconds and it finally fired up. I would recommend either another X5 or something with he rk3188 chip. They are quick. I'm working on a review of the MK908 now.

I'm not sure yet, I have one coming so I'll do a review soon. I think it has slightly better hardware but 4.2 is a bit buggy. People starting to downgrade it back to 4.1. The MK908 seemed pretty stable to me.

so i have the WD HD TV Live...and it's starting to annoy the crap out of me, but i like how i can stream my movies from my PC over the network to my TV (that's the main reason i am using it for), what would be a great alternative to upgrade to?

+rkosley I'm in the same boat. I love that feature of the WD TV Live but that's about all I love. It's so sluggish and never gets any updates. I'm thinking of maybe just keeping it for that function but purchasing some sort of NUC and installing Openelec (Linux flavor of Kodi).

Great video with detailed reviews. BTW - Tronsmart just came out with a Quad 1.6GHz Android Mini PC called the MK908. It is identical in size to the MK808, but it has 2GB of system memory and bluetooth.

I can't wait to get the Ouya. I don't know it it will be as good as these AMPs a (a few early sample reviews weren't that good) but it has a lot of potential. I'll do a review as soon as I receive it.

Great review! just wondering how difficult it is to hook up the minx x5 to a television? I have previously purchased an imito mx2 found it to have a horrible instruction guide and after two days attempting to set it up on my tv set i just lost patience and destroyed the stick.

Do any of the AMPs do 1080i? A number of the Web sites that advertise them include it in the specs, but anytime one of your videos shows the HDMI resolution list, it isn't there? Since most of them use the same GPU, I have to wonder whether the advertised specs are wrong. I've looked in various places on the Web and found contradictory claims. Can you clear this up?

I bought the minix neo x5 in July.working great so far with their rom-4.1.1 yesterday I installed minixs 4.2.2. From their download page.a little biggie but I can see a improvement. Faster / smother.

Great review, I've been thinking of getting an AMP for a long while but I've used XBMC since the XBMP days and I'm quite fond of it. However I've been using Plex on my phone for some time now and to not drag this out more: My main issue with AMP's are that I dont like fly-mouse-things, i want to navigate with the arrows on my remote. So I ask you who have about 1000% more experience than me with these things what kind of remote and AMP should I get if i want to avoid the fly-mice out there? :)

If I need to choose between: MK908, Minix Neo X5 and odroid-u2, Knowing that I need Skype with C525, 2.4 iPazzport, stream media and watch some online series, which would you choose? Should I rule out dual core? Should I wait for a Minix quad core? I had a Mini X and I was very disappointed (It did play from youTube but not from a TV website with my wife's series) and I had to return it. Or, would you (or anyone else) recommend something else? I've got the MK808, I agree the only real downside is the number of ports, but I had a PS3 hooked up to the TV that went out, most of the time we used the PS3 for Netflix and amazon video, the MK808 does that and much more! you really helped me with discovering the MK808s abilities, thank you

Hey, i just saw your video, really interesting comparison. I have Minix Neo x5, and im trying to make it operate with Linux. Because i cant use hangout (google+) on a browser with minix. Does by any chance you have made to work with linux or you know how can i make it. Till now i have rooted the device and installed CWM. My problem is that I cannot flash recovery (i don't know how) to give me the possibility to run on dual boot with android and ubuntu. Any advice will be really great.

I think a lot of these reviews always leave out Audio performance like DTS, AC3 (5.1 surround sound) I believe if you going to have a nice system setup wouldnt audio be a factor? These devices have ports for digital audio but most of them aren't supported, so would be nice to see which ones are and which ones aren't

Thanks, yes i know exactly what you mean. I looking for an AMP with much higher specs like an A15 CPU, Much more storage, power On/off button. I'd be willing to pay a few hundered bucks for something like that. Anyhow they are getting much better so quickly. How did you fix the date issue? did you just check the box for auto date? That's the only way I know how.

Great roundup. I wish I'd seen this a year ago. Buying a WD TV Live Hub was a slight faux pas on my part as I didn't appreciate the difference between it and the WD TV Live in terms of 3rd party firmware availability. The WD TV Live Hub has none available and WD seem to have stopped development.

With the MK808 you didn't mention about the wifi problems, a lot of complaints are made about that, though fixes exist it shouldn't be something owners need to do. Great overall view of the main devices on the market, might look at picking up another soon and use the mk808 for my non network needs.

I've heard the PS3 controller is really good. I've used the xbox controller and it works nicely too. You will probably need a finless ROM to use either of these controllers with the MK808. I will defiantly be reviewing the Ouya when ever it arrives. I've had it on order form months now.

You did not specified wich of them come with remotes, and forgot of linking them in the table. In the hardware matter, the B13 has something that none of the others have EXTERNAL WiFi antenna (by cable, such a thing that can come usefull to some).
