Minix Neo X5 Mini Review

I preordered the Minix Neo X7, and I just got confirmation that it just shipped! Shouldn't be more than a week. I didn't think it was going to be available till next month so I ordered the X5 mini the other day so I could use it till the X7 arrived, and wouldn't you know it, they shipped on the same day!

That would've been nice. I've been planning to get one of those for emulators and SopCast. Now I'm wondering maybe X5 mini will suit me more? Especially considering it's price, because I doubt that X7 will get a launch price south of $120.

Can you do a comparison with the new Ouya system and the mini PCs in the area of gaming? I am about to spend my $, but I cannot decide to buy a Ouya or a mini PC. Love your channel. Really helps with my reserch.

Would you say this is generally better than the MINIX Neo X5 or on par, performance wise. The form factor doesn't really matter that much to me, so unless the performance is much better, I will probably go for the bigger brother.

Can you use the remote that comes with the device to search in xbmc? Like can you click through letters on the xbmc keyboard? Also can you use a USB Bluetooth dongle to enable Bluetooth

Its probably similar but the x5 mini has very good software with very few bugs.

Hi can you give us a little more info on which xbmc is best for the minix mini I have 12.2 frodo and its working fine until the movie finishes then it sticks,is it the neon box set for xbmc please give us a little more info on which one to choose

I've been watching your videos all night, I can't figure out which android PC to buy now! haha What would you recommend? I think I'm leaning towards the Minix Neo X5 Mini.... I already have a smart TV but would like to have android and a way to stream HD movies from my computer to my TV. Would this be a good unit? (Streaming over Wifi)

Hey, Somecooltech1 Truly fantastic videos, so, to the point and informative. I have a Atari 2600 and on the inside there is plenty of room on the inside for a Mini PC in your opinion what is the most powerful at the moment and worthy, the PC is going to be enclosed in the shell, so the remote will have to operate without seen the unit, also is there any that automatically boots up as I don't want to open up the Atari every time I want to use it. Have you tried running a 1080p MKV in 3D from an external harddisk? If that works, then this device would make a great substitute for the HTPC I'm thinking of building, and gives me more cash to put into a Wii U or new speakers. ;)

Hi!!! love your reviews but i cant seem to decide. can you recommend good XBMC pc? I dont care much for android apps. I just want XBMC with true 1080p playback (stream from NAS), where I can install plugins. also good wifi and bluetooth headphones. also something that i can hide behind tv where remote would work? do you have something in mind?

Hi ther many thanks all your reviews regarding some cool tech1, if you can help i bout Minix Neo X5 but the problem is i tried use external arabic usb keyboard that is not english it didnt work while i setup the device language to arabic. second thing i am using 55" LG led tv and i tried the youtoup the video is not support the full hd.

I saw your review on the Tronsmart MK908. which device is best to stream videos from Netflix etc.? this Minix looks pretty good. and also Tronsmart have the T428. plus sony and asus also have google tv devices. hey, i'm after a android mini pc and was wondering what is best for xbmc as its main purpose in the price range of mk808(b) and the mini neo x5 so £30-£65 price range. which device is best for running xbmc with no lag, would it be better saving money and buying the mk808 since i'm only using for xbmc or would it be better spending a little more and having the ethernet cable option on an x5/x5 mini? Thanks for sharing this video, i have just ordered Minix Neo X8-H couple of days ago (still to come). i have a question for you! can i use a PC Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for the Minix? do you think its compatible? i have seen quite few videos shwoing people using a standard keyboard and mouse to navigate, and lastly can i sync a playstation / Xbox controller to the Minix as well .. thanks in advance

Love your videos. Have helped me out a lot. I decided I was gonna get me a CX 919... but I came across another device that caught my attention on ebay and I'm very VERY curious now. It's A2 IPEGTOP. Apparently it has a 1.8 ghz processor but sports the same Rockchip RK3188? I just can't find a reliable website to look into it. Could you check this out for us? NP-1 measures 3.9×3.5×1.2 inches and comes with an infrared remote control.and there will also be a number of apps preloaded such as Netflix, Hulu Plus, KZbin, Pandora, XBMC, Skype and even Angry Birds, with additional titles awaiting at the Google Play Store. Finally, it’s worth mentioning that the NanoTech isn’t really a hacking friendly company; they explicitly state that rooting the Nuvola NP-1 or installing a custom ROM will void your warranty. Run a mile. Bought one and have nothing but problems. Wifi stretches about 10 feet so if your modem is not right next to it... DO NOT buy the remote.. Battery again lasts 1 day. Nightmare - nothing said in this review about this.
