Remember watching this at the time, completely blew me away! The slightly out of kilter guitars only make it better. Never seen a better band live.

Living in upper Minnesota the only BC exposure was almost non existent. for my fifteenth Birthday my mother (originally from Bristol) bought me The Crossing on cassette. She had no idea of the band, just knew it was modern (at the time). Ever since Big Country has been one of my favorite groups. Every song is worth listening to on all the albums. Cant say that for any of the artists today.

Stuart Adamson is the best singer, writer, guitarist and the sexiest man I've ever laid eyes on. I could listen to Big Country and nothing else, as a matter of fact, their music is all I keep in my car. Love Skids too! Damn how he is missed. And he only got better and better.

always been a heavy rock/metal fan,saw Big Country wipe the floor with nearly all the metal bands at the Reading Festival in 83.imagine what the so called "guitar" bands in the charts would make of Stuart and the boys...R.I.P Stuart.
@scottreinke16 жыл бұрын
Influential in better ways than U2. More actual joy! Tony Butler was the bassist Big Country, damn right he made it even more interesting. He played vivid bass on the Pretenders "Back on the Chain Gang" (How cool is that?) and some/most? of the songs on "Learning to Crawl." Again, how cool is that? Anyone know where he went from there? I remember seeing them do this song on SNL in the '80s & thinking "these guys really love what they're playing." Important to me even now.

It makes me seriously sad this talented person died. I saw Big Country so many times in Europe when I was stationed in Germany in the RAF. He was a fantastic talent. The amount of times as young men out for a good time we'd scream at the top of our lungs "Stay Alive!!!" like Stuart did. This song brings back so many happy memories -- thanks Stuart. Love you mate.

Man, I remember the Mayfair too! I moved to Toon Town in 98 and spent many nights at that club, and then it closed suddenly and was pencilled for redevelopment. Really sad. Probably one of the last true great old guard rock clubs and live venues left at the time. Great memories.

Stuart and Bruce were born to ethnically Scottish parents who happened to be in the wrong place at the right time. Then their families returned to their homeland while Stuart and Bruce were still wee babies. So they were/are Scottish in all but birthplace. If your cat had kittens in the oven you wouldnae call 'em biscuits, would ye?

I used to see Stuart alot at Knockhill watching the motorbike racing. I always felt that he was uncomfortable with people always recognising him and staring at him. I don't think he liked the fame thing, just wanted to be like anyone else in the crowd...

Hiya Love the band R.I.P. Stuart. Met them in 83 i think in Fleetwood uk, "Chance" had just come out as a single and they were on "The Crossing" tour. Just wanted to let you know(not that it is important) that the tv show was called "The Tube." I saw them again two years ago when Mike Peters was doing vocals. Great show but there was some NRG missing and that isnt because the band are 30+ years older.....Peace and Love xxx
