Big Daddy Kane invented punchline rap. That's why back then him and Rakim were rivals. They had different styles. Y'all should listen to Big Daddy Kane song Smooth Operator and see how many lines got stole from that.

Did Rakim steal Big Daddy Kane's lyrics?
@HEagle72 Жыл бұрын
@@kenandon5340 Rakim is J Cole, Kane was Drake. Lyrically, it's no contest... but its obvious who's a better rap superstar.
@mostmost1 Жыл бұрын
@@HEagle72 neither of them were like Drake or jcole. Their styles were much different than eirher. Rakim was a bigger star than Kane also. Had double the albums and hits. They both unique and there was no real rivalry. The fans wanted it somewhat.
@HEagle72 Жыл бұрын
@@mostmost1 i just meant surface level wise. Drake raps about shit women would love, the way Kane did being smooth and shit. Cole talks about complex shit and a lot of real storytelling while doing his rhyme schemes the way Rakim did. But we all know Rakim would wreck Kane in a battle, just like we know Cole would body Drake. Thats all im saying. And I prefer Rakim to Kane. They're both dope af though.

When this came out summer 88' ... THE RAP GAME WAS CHANGED FOREVER. This set the tone for the entire golden age to come. The ominous yet playfull beat was so HARD and the lyrics had more rhyme scheme and wordplay than just about anything human ears had heard before. THIS IS WHY IMO KANE IS THE GOAT OF HIP-HOP. He was a battle MC than even had Rakim ducking him bc he knew Kane would tear him apart in a battle. KANE, RAKIM, KRS-ONE... Thats my 3 greatest rappers/MC's of all-time. Then you can throw in guys like Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Eminem, Tupac, Biggie, Kool G-Rap, Ol Dirty Bastard, Nas, etc...KANE, RAKIM, KRS-ONE WERE NOT EXACTLY THE FIRST TO DO IT... BUT THE FiRST TO SET THE BAR WHICH IS STILL THE STANDARD OF FLOW.

"Had flow", Naw my guy. He GOT flow. He still one the OG Kings of hip-hop. They don't make them like this anymore. Very few originals left. No disrespect to the new styles of hip-hop but this right here it where it all began. Check out Das Efx "Mic Checka". They had some of the craziest metaphors and you really had to understand the context to understand why they built there rhymes the way they did.

Hi Marco Got Beats, Long time watcher, First time commenter. I really appreciate that you are taking the time to look at rappers of the past. I enjoy it because I get to view your reaction to see if you felt what I felt when you heard the song for the first time. However, the purpose of this comment is that I noticed that most of your videos are actual videos of rappers songs. Thats beautiful. However, what you have to understand that back in the 80's and early 90's rappers best street songs were not really commercial. Because of that the record companies would only allow for the commercially made rap songs to have videos and the more street heavy songs would not get videos. The point that I am trying to make is if you could search for rappers of the 80s and 90s classic songs you will find the "TRUE" songs that made these rappers who they were. Below is a list of songs that I hope you can do a review of : Big Daddy Kane - "RAW" - 1987 Big Daddy Kane - "SET IT OFF" - 1988 Kool G Rap - "GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY" - 1991 Kool G Rap - "Wanted Dead Or Alive" - 1990 Roxanne Shante - "BIG MAMMA" - 1992 Schoolly D - "PSK" - 1986 These are just some of the songs that never had a video made for it. However, these are some of the songs that defined who these rappers were at the time. Whenever you get a chance just take a look and you will understand truly why Big Daddy Kane is looked at as one of the Greatest Rappers ever as well as Kool G Rap, Roxanne Shante, Krs-One and others.
