Can you stain the pine? I think it looks great together but as they age they might be very different- if so you could stain or paint to make them blend better

Log cabins are common in pine. Smell is not an issue. Google best wood for log cabin. You could always paint or varnish part of it.

What an absolutely terrific video. That party just flows with so much fun, fellowship and peace. And that porch--wowsa--absolutely spirnickity as my MIL would say when something looked over the top. What an exciting time! Spring brings so much new and so much work but I am so glad you were able to enjoy some fellowship! I loved our homeschool seasonal gatherings as a young girl. We had many large families and everyone had a friend. I miss those days so much!

Yes if we were making something like furniture we would dry it, but for slabs on the wall it should dry while it hangs just fine.
