Jerry & Linda, for the size of the yards people have there, small electric mowers that operate on 52 volt batteries suffice, don't take up much space in a garage, and eliminate the need for gas cans.

Living in NE Ohio, I have to agree about the long months of gray and gloomy days. Fall is gorgeous, yes, but my goodness do we get our fill of the gloom! I think that's a reason your cart rides and bike rides are so welcome... just to see the sunshine and green trees and plants is uplifting. Loved Gizmo's jokes - he always makes me smile! 😊😊

I have terrible allergies in Illinois. For months at a time. But when I come to the Villages I'm just fine. I think it really depends what you are allergic too. The grass in the Villages is significantly different than the grass in Illinois. I just don't get allergic reactions when I am in Florida. Proving once again that the Villages is close to heaven.

Great one! We were down there this past May for a lifestyle visit. I enjoyed making my coffee every morning and going out to the driveway to pick up the Daily Sun and read through it. I pretended I was retired for a week, and man, I go for that! We were pretty sure we know where you two are but did not hunt you down, because, you know, that would be creepy. When you live there it is different, I'm sure, but we were convinced on our retirement choice for sure!! Everything you have said was true. Thank you so much for the truthful and helpful education. My guess at fully furnishing a home was $50,000. She came in under expectations. But we plan to bring most of our furniture, expect our dining room set. Unless we bought a premier home my 60" wide table for 12 would not fit! There should be 3 tiers of furnishing quality: IKEA, Haverty's or Ethan Allen. How much you'll spend basically depends on which tier you're buying in. I know our home insurer USAA has tiers for deciding the value of your belongings for insurance purposes. Thank you for always having such interesting and entertaining shows!

Gators 🐊 oh no. Twins 🍳🙌🏼. Great question. My husband and his allergies is horrendous for weeks. Fell bad for him. At least the bonds are financed over 30 yrs. Don’t think power lines would bother me. Wow. Permission to get a shed but I’m a having a Gardner come weekly or bi weekly. Whatever it takes to stay groomed. Whenever we move, will start over. Know I love my bloopers. 😂. Oh no Linda; a concussion. I give up with the scrambles 😂. Love the SWEET and SALTY 😮🫤🤗. You turned the salty sweet. Love the shoutouts. Omg. I guess the power line thing is a concern for some folks. I live maybe half mile from them. If I look down at the end of my street in one direction I can see them if I look up and I take a daily walk on the path along Marsh Bend Trail and pass under them, but it doesn't concern me at all. They are far above me and the area beneath them is landscaped, with walking paths, like a park.

I think it does depend on the person because I don't suffer from allergies here in Florida nor up north in the Spring. I don't miss the change of seasons at all. I would get sad when the leaves started turning up north and I did not enjoy raking the leaves. Yes, the two worst months for me were January and February with the grey skies! Most of the hurricane shutters I have seen are on houses on the coast, I have had Friends that live on the coast come stay with me when hurricanes start happening and they have to evacuate. Yes, enjoy yourselves in our beautiful community and I'm so glad you're enjoying it with us!! ❤❤ Thanks for the giggles Gizzy!

I have one little suggestion. My husband and l are in the three year process of moving full time to FL . We have bought mostly new furniture and it looks lovely . It just doesn’t feel like home yet .. l think it’s because several “ big/ important ( to us) pieces of furniture have not made their way down . Sometimes having some older or family pieces makes your home cozy / comfortable.

My mother lives in Cape Coral. She rode out the cat 5 hurricane alone in her home without the hurricane shutters due to the bolts rusting and breaking off the neighbors couldn't put them up. She is having hurricane retractable sreens installed in July. You can lower them manually or the come with a remote control to lower and lift which is more expensive. I would suggest getting the remote! Also you can have some visibility through them which is a plus if you have the urge to look to see what the status of your yard is. 😉

When we took our lifestyle tour I had an argument about the bond. Not that there was one but how they refer to it. If you are looking at a $300,000 house and a bond of $25,000, then to me the cost of the house is $325,000 because you can't have a new house without a bond. The sales agent said they are two separate things; the house price and the bond price. I get it but you can't have one without the other. IMO it is the villages way of hiding the TRUE cost of the house.

Hi Jerry and Linda. We closed on a house in DeLuna in November 2022. I think with the increase in fuel prices and labor costs the last couple of years has made the price to move substantially higher than when you moved. In fact, we got a quote to move a "small" POD which isn’t even big enough to move all of our furniture. When it comes to PODs you have to pack and unpack the POD yourself. Our estimate to get a small POD moved to the Villages from Ohio was almost $5,000. In addition, after being in the north all those years my wife wanted to redecorate our new house in a different style to fit Florida. We ended up buying a lot of new furniture and selling our old furniture as the most cost effective way to furnish our new home. If you would like to come over and talk through it in more detail we would be happy to do it. It may help others thinking through move options.

Second-hand furniture and marketplace offers a lot of discount or free furniture. East coast and Midwest have a different style of furniture perhaps a little too heavy for Florida in some cases. My house came with furniture and I kept the pieces that I liked and sold the rest or gave it away free on marketplace.

When I stayed in Venice FL we were next to a power line but were told it wasn't a health hazard... but after a couple days there my daughter's lips started turning a weird reddish color and swelling and she was in the room closest to the lines... so I could see it was having an effect on her... I wouldn't chance it...

I’ll chime in on allergies- had bad spring allergies in NY and NJ where I lived- 5 years here not as bad might have to do with different trees and the crappy “grass” down here.

Question about the new Middleton area that is for families I believe. If a family buys in that area, do they have access to all areas like the rest of the villagers? I am mainly talking about the recreational areas....pools, golf courses, pickelball courts. I hope some pools will still be for adults only.

Good question. It is my understanding that Middleton residents would NOT have access to TV pools etc. Hopefully Jerry and Linda will respond.

No, they do not have access to the rest of the Villages. Middleton will have their own pools (4 I think) and basketball courts, tennis courts, etc. at each area. As far as I know, there aren't going to be rec centers like the villages has. I have asked about golf on the new courses near Middleton, but haven't gotten an answer yet, but anyone can play on any of the championship courses, you just have to pay.

Power lines are not just an aesthetic issue. Research the health effects.

See my comment above. And periodically I do test it and I have never seen a high reading. I'm actually surprised because I figured I would but I did not. Now my house sits in the middle between two towers so the towers are actually pretty far away from me

Hence, the low readings.

We actually had someone come in and measure for that. The room is just a little bit too small for what we wanted.

Good Morning Jerry & Linda, great work as always. Here's some more information on the Bond here in The Villages kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHjal2p3mNKse6s I did this about 4 years ago, the information is still valid and accurate, but I'm working on a refresh of it.
