George Lee "Sparky" Anderson was an MLB player, and coach. He managed for the Cincinnati Reds ( won two titles in 1975 and 1976) and won a title in 1984 with the Detroit Tigers. We loved him in Motown. The former players still talk about him to this day.

As I understand it, the blood does not actually “thin”. However about 18 months after changing climates, the body becomes better adapted to the temperatures of the new climate

Just remember...those cute alligators can move fast when they want you they can move fast don't let them fool you. I lived on both sides of FL for 40 plus years and they are sneaky and superfast.

You 2 are adorable! As a nurse of 44 years I can assure you that blood does not thin, your blood is not your insulation. But we acclimate to the temperatures we are used to so eventually temperatures will feel differently to us. 50 up north will feel warm after a frigid winter but cold after a hot summer. Stay adorable you 2!

We live in in Fernandina beach, Amelia Island. It’s about three hours from your location in north east Florida. We love Fernandina beach and our house here. We wouldn’t trade our Florida life for our former New York one for anything! My husband John worked 40 years for the New York State thruway authority as an emergency services supervisor after his tour in the US Navy for 10 years. He lived through every ice storm & blizzard in New York State. I worked as an RN at Columbia Presbyterian medical center in New York City / Night Shift for 42 years. I drove thru ice storms, dug myself out of ditches, heavy rain. Yes, you name it. I did it. I was ready for a Beach life at 62. These have been the happiest 6 years of our lives. We have made some great friends, volunteer at our church and belong to Nassau sportfishing. My husband likes to fish as a hobby. I don’t but I love turtle watching and protecting the turtles bd their babies. I also do dog rescue for the Nassau. Humane Society. Plus I started singing again. Singing has always been one of my passions. I sing in our church chorus & love it. My husband John and his friend Kenny are the heads of our entertainment/church hall. They do all the events and fundraisers for the men’s club. Why go back to a New York life and pay those exorbitant taxes?! New York can keep its rudeness & high taxes. That life for us is over for good. When we go back to visit family, which is once a year, it’s usually for two days. We can’t wait to leave once we get there. Our attitude now is let them come see us.

Went to Andy Williams “Moon River Café“ in Branson, Missouri many years ago, and lo and behold, who walks in to his private table but a very elderly Andy Williams. I will say that wife misses the snow a little. Me? Not at all. I have experienced that for 50+ years. I had enough of it. If I never see it again, I will be fine. The fall colors? Jerry: I have a personal rule on visiting locations like Hooters. If I would be OK if my daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, daughter-in-law worked there, then it's OK for me to visit. Otherwise, I would not. If you would be OK with Linda working as a server at Hooters, and having men gawk at her, then go ahead and visit the restaurant.

I don't understand the question in context. Would you not want family members to work in TV, because they would be exploited there? I wouldn't have an issue if my daughter or wife worked in the television industry. Your program is quality work, and you might be asked to put it on television. When Cynthia asked where she could find her own Jerry I felt a bit nostalgic. My first husband’s name was Jerry Madden. I go by my maiden name. He passed away January of 2002, quite young. We always loved each other through it all.

My tap water here is wonderful. Right from the aquifier. It can vary a bunch, just 15 miles to my east, it tastes awful and smells like rotten eggs (sulfur). I hadn't seen pictures of your farm in Indiana in the fall before, looks a lot like my place. GORGEOUS. I will never leave, It was 53 and sunny today, and Thursday it's supposed to be 65. Minot? Now THAT is cold!! Did you know that Minot is COLDER in the winter than Anchorage, Alaska? True. That would be a hard pass, I would never live farther north than 40 degrees north.

Hi Jerry and Linda, I love your channel and Mailbag Monday is a favorite. This past week the question came up about whether our blood thins in warmer temperatures. You asked for some clarification. As a marathon runner in the Northeast US I've learned that our bodies (and our blood thickness) does change with the weather. In colder climes humans do experience a thickening of our blood. Conversely, when the weather starts to warm up our blood with thin accordingly. It takes about 2 weeks for our bodies to adapt to the temperature changes. That's why if it gets warm too quickly people will experience "sluggishness". That's because it takes time for our bodies to adjust to the changing temperature. This is also why when Floridians come north, they experience cold sooner than we northerners do. It's not you (well it is you), but it's our biology. Hope that helps! BTW, here's something official from a gov. health site: Questions: Does your blood get thicker when its cold? This is so that our cells and organs are protected from damage. When we start to get cold, our blood becomes thicker, which can cause clotting. Clotting can cause problems and is one of the reasons we see more heart attacks and strokes in the days following colder weather.
