I hope so, but I really doubt it will happen. I loved Adeptus Titanicus but GW priced too many people out of it and had to much on forge world. I enjoyed Aeronautics as well but none of my friends would venture into it after what they saw with Titanicus. My friends have already said they won’t touch the new epic because of these reasons. I just think GW screwed up with the earlier stuff with the prices, availability and support.

IIRC, this is how Epic started- with Space Marine and the Horus Heresy. The game expanded from there and moved into the more recent 40K timeline, so give it some love and you just might see 40K in Epic scale again.

Kind of. Adeptus Titanicus was 1st, then Space Marine. Both here HH period there was another set of rules released for Titanicus not long after. Some people call that 1st edition but it was a different game to the "Space Marine" and "Titan Legions" that followed which was 40K setting and had 40K alien races. The next system released at that scale was "Epic 40,000". This is what most people refer to as 3rd Edition, although really it was 2nd Edition epic 40k and died very fast. People seem surprised that the current "Epic" is Heresy period but really that's just GW reviving the 1st game system that died before the move to the 40K period, which was called "Adeptus Titanicus". The new name of Legion Imperialis is surely a nod to the old "Titan Legions" (source - me, someone who played those systems)

Hearing this was Heresy exclusive instantly killed all interest I had in the game. Xenos armies have always been the most interesting thing to see matched against titans for me, and knowing that none of that will happen makes me not wanna touch it with a ten foot pole.

Could be a great finale with the 4. tyranic war ending with huge battles and a crossover between multiple game systems. Kill team, regular 40k and New Epic. All of this in a single global campaign.

Pretty pumped for the rules. I printed up a sets worth of minis at 8mm but scaled them up to 10ish' mm. I think the SM look better measuring 1.5cm instead of 1cm.

You know, while I am actually pretty okay with the game being HH focused I do kind of question it from a business perspective. I don't know, I kind of get the sense Age of Darkness probably did really well and that might be one of the reasons why they are going down this route. But I do still wonder if, say, Orks vs Primaris Space Marines in a 40K setting wouldn't have been a better choice. Regardless, I am still excited as fuck. Finally being able to play big stuff without having to sell my kidney is already fun enough. But all of the models I've seen so far look great, and, while we obviously don't know much yet, I am pretty hopeful about the rules.

It's a production reason most likely. They can represent both sides of the conflict with the exact same molds. Making additional factions requires extra molds, and those are a serious investment. What that means is, if it does well, they may use some of the revenue to expand the range. If it doesn't do well, they are only out the expense of a single set of molds

While I think that the new Legions Imperialis is neat, much like with Titanicus, I don't think I'd ever get more than the few models that I like solely for the sake of painting and displaying them. While I would hope that it does well enough to warrant making it Epic 2.0 proper, until that day actually comes I don't see myself following it very closely.

I am really excited about this, Epic was (IMHO) one of the best games GW released (along with BFG). However, I think AT hits the nail on the head. GW have a very chequered history of not supporting their subsidiary games. As often the call is 'lack of take up' from GW which IMHO is a self licking lollipop: GW don't support, eveyone is waiting to see if it's supported or their favourite faction/units get released GW cries foul, everyone is disappointed. My only fear with the new Epic (sorry GW it's always going to be Epic to me!) is that clearly people wanted this set in the 40k timeframe for a wider range of armies (Nids, Tau, Necrons etc). I wonder if this will lead to the 'lack of support' argument coming back to bite? I really hope not. I personally would love for 40k, but I am still excited by the 30k setting, and would still buy a alternate '40k' version in the future. Who knows, 30k could still allow for Orks & Eldar in this period as well as 'Megachnids' as a sort of limited Nids alternative as well as Custodes and Mechanicum. High hopes for this - PLEASE DONT GO ALL GW, GW! 🤦‍♂️

It was smart for them to choose 30K. There are too many factions in 40K. The release list would be huge, and you know if one faction took a long time to get added to the game people would bitch about it. Horus Heresy allows for a limited number of factions to be realised as diverse option full sized armies quite quickly. Alternating activations sold me right away. So much better then you go I go IMO.

It looks like they are killing Adeptus Titanicus. All the Knights and most of the Titans aren't listed any longer. The only two units still available are the Warlord and the Warmaster Iconoclast. Will they be available again under Legions Imperalis? Everything else would be insane...

They've said that they're continuing support for Titanicus, and that the plastic Dire Wolf kit would have the Titanicus rules in it (for both the titan itself, and the new conversion beamer weapon.)

The epic scale system that originally existed, way back in the day was 30k, before epic 40,000 existed. GW is just going back to that 1st game, which was called Adeptus Titanicus. If its successful 40k will happen down the line.

50 models per side is not that unless you are thinking that the Infantry bases are one model. Nearly 30 years ago when Epic was being played we would have hundreds of models per side and I would field 3-4 Space Marine companies or around 400+ models and still have more. As I stated before that boxset is a joke since it barely has anything in it and the price for it is going to be $200 or more. Plus given GW track record it will sell out very quickly and that will be it. During Horus Heresy Eldar, Orks, Squats, Necrons and Chaos did exist but not anymore. Also to hosed over us old time Epic players they up the scale to 8mm/10mm from 6mm and as stated got rid of most of the armies. Then you have the price of Titans which are over $150 for a 8mm/10mm miniature and most are sold out. So to expand from that barely detachment size force from the box is going to cost you a lot like upwards to $1,000 or more to build even a decent size force. I have 3 Warlord Titans, 3 Reaver Titans and 4 Warhounds from old Epic and just to replace those would be well over $1,200. So going to totally passed on this since I do not get in on GW cash grabs and this looks like a cash grab and I have thousands of old Epic miniatures divided between five different armies; Space Marines, Eldar, Squats, Orks and Imperial Guard.

I'm a bit bummed-out. If they had allowed for xenos factions, I'd have jumped right in. That's disappointing in and of itself. But the fact that, with this release, they also killed all 40k and xenos factions in Aeronautica Imperialis as well has me irritated. They didn't even give you a heads-up so you could buy some of the Forgeworld models that went OOP such as Crimson Hunters or Hemlocks. Big oof for me.

I'm defintily interested. I've always loved the idea of HUGE armies and it's just far too expensive to do that with regular 40k or HH. But this is the only question I have. Price. How much will this cost? because if they charge the same as they do for the 40k and HH boxes, i'm calling BS because when the models are this small, they should be considerably cheaper. I wouldn't be suprised if all the Marine infantry came on 1 sprue and all the Solar Auxilia on another. so less plastic needed. If they say it's 1/4 of the size i'd like to think it'd 1/4 of the price. But you never know with GW.

I've been a fan of Games Workshop but for a while they burnt the bridge from me a long time ago even and then I said I will no longer put a lot of money into the company I still buy Miniatures here and there because I'm a miniature painter though I'm interested in the Epic I'm not interested in horse heresy timeline if they come out with the Tau later I mightn't be interested but in all honesty currently I probably won't even if they do
