I appreciate this video a lot. I was really on the fence about this one. You're right, the price is completely, totally, unreasonable, but this is a set I would REALLY love to play with. My issue isn't the money, I spend more than that on lunch. My issue is that it's not WORTH $20 and I don't want to feel like I'm being taken advantage of. All the bugs in this set sealed the deal for me. Like the Dungeon set and the Pyramid set, it's just not worth the prices Funcom is asking. If they had reasonable pricing, they'd have my money. But they haven't, so they don't. Please Funcom, price your sets more reasonably. You would have my money instantly if you did.

Glad I could help! There's definitely some nice things in this set, but yeah it doesn't justify the $20 price tag. I agree on Dungeon too, though I do quite like Pyramid, even if its a bit restrictive. It boggles the mind even more because we just had Onsen, which was not perfectly priced but within the realm, and Arcane Revisited which I thought was quite good for $5, even if the style is a little more niche. I don't really get the pricing logic sometimes 😂

The more recent pricing for pretty much everything, all higher than last years pricings, has gotten crazy in my opinion. Zamorian Throne Room SET (5 items) - £17.83 Emblem Collection SET (4 items) - £3.96 Poitain Knight Jousting Gear SET (8 items) - £24.83 Sets now expired: Blood Crystal Mimic SET (3 items) - £11.89 Noble Fineries SET (4 items) - £11.74 They do look great, I wil say that, but as we know, they are all mainly cosmetic so the core game stuff still does the trick. The costs though, when measured against a cuppa coffee at £2.25 makes it bearable to some? Not to me though.

Typically a jousting Frog Mouth would be bolted onto the breastplate so as to protect the neck from whiplash, but if you're going to try to actually fight in it that is not a good idea.

I did see a few real life jousting armors that had some sort of bolted segment, both on the helmet and over the arm, but yeah I guess they chose not to do that seeing as most people would also want to use the armor off horseback, and it would look a bit silly otherwise

They need to just go all the way and do a bascinet with a houndskull visor. Normally Id argue that 15th century equipment doesnt have a place in conan as it takes place in something like 10,000 BC and copper/bronze gear should be FAR more prevelent however with the inclusion of a lot of the marvel stuff in conan exiles it doesnt really matter anymore as we've gone beyond howards lore at this point

I like the frog helmet. Looks different from all the other armors. Very knight-like. And with the saddle i think it’s cool they got rid of the horse tail to avoid the clipping like it does with all the other new saddles. Don’t care about the other stuff though. Pretty pricey.

Tbh the gauntlet clipping is a non issue cuz with armor like that, you wouldn't be using a shield anyways. The frogmouth historically was only used in jousts so it's tricky finding a good alternative for the foot combat folk. Great video as usual!

The frogmouth helmet is not to my taste, luckily there's plenty of helmets that match the armour including the Zingaran Morion style helmets and the Nemedian Archer helmet. I think also the Black Dragon helmet looks good too if dyed to match the armour's steel.

I absolutely love the armor set as a whole. Conan doesnt have enough variation with closed face plate helms and the dyes on this one makes it really reminiscent of the old school runescape armors. Still waiting for a turanian/shemite/stygian sets that add hookah placeables

I bought this pack purely because of the caparison...wish there were more caparisons included. Really don't like that the horse's tail goes missing, makes me not want to use it now...probably wouldn't have spend that kind of money had I known about this issue prior. Hope they fix it.

I suspect many people will have the same opinion on the barbarian aesthetic, it's probably the first thing most envision when they think of Conan. The froghelm only makes that difference larger IMO, even if it is at least somewhat realistic for jousting

I bought the Asier building set and was disappointed by the amount of building pieces. Everyone needs to not buy anything until the prices drop and they fix bugs instead of releasing another $20 set that should really be $2

If you apply illusion using any shield with clan emblem, it doesn't work as well!! Never did!!

The lance hole in the shield is on the wrong side, since the point of the shield backwards down the left leg when riding with shield, but since you cant equip the shield it doesn't matter.

Is it? I've found quite a few images of lance holes being on the right side (from rider's perspective) of the shield when held in the left hand, though they are mostly from modern day recreations

@@Eradicati0nn If the hole is on the right of the shield it would simply expose your left knee cap when mounted; to interlock with the lance it needs upper, left corner, remember the point of the shield points back towards leg when riding. Dismounted, yeah it seems logical for the right but, it wouldn't a shield used in jousting then...

I don't have the time I once used to to play this game and grind through the battle pass. And the fact that they have changed the battle pass to make it take longer for me to get through it is a killer for me. This is probably going to be the last time I give funcom any money.

The battle pass has gotten significantly faster to finish, like 5 minutes of afk time in single player for 7 days and you've reached Tier 60. The changes made it much faster across the board unless you only do the challenges, which is much slower, but more designed as a back-up method to jump up levels

Nice set for 250 coins, but no way it is worth nearly 2500. Nuts indeed. Yet another one to avoid,...which is a shame as it's a very lore friendly set I can actually see Conan wearing in the books.

Very true, ultimately money makes the world go round, especially in game dev, else you'd only get indie passion projects. The prices for some of the stuff is crazy, which is doubly strange when some other stuff I'd expect to be somewhat expensive is quite cheap, or at least close to reasonable. Sometimes seems like they're kinda throwing a dart at the price board and seeing where it lands

No it's not a fallacy point. It's basic marketing and consistent with their own statement that they would be adjusting prices based on the only feedback that matters, whether they sell a product at the price listed. They don't lower prices because no matter how much people complain about it, they keep buying it. You are a perfect example, no matter what you say, the bottom line is that you 100% supported the price point with your wallet. No corporation adjusts a price down because the people paying grumbled. They only adjust prices down when the product doesn't sell at that price.

Lol considering that a whole dlc was released at that price some year ago makes me think how ridiculously high the prices are in that bazaar... nonsense. And there's even another particular to be mentioned... with last chapter release you cannot modify your mounts behavior... so using horses is almost impossible because if you engage enemies on foot and toggle them to be attacked by your thrall the horse will do the same instead of staying away from battle...I quit using horses and mounts after the last chapter release because of that... 🤦

I used to buy so many things from the bazaar. Havent for quite some time. Just keep hoping FunComes to their senses. Stops treating their Conan player base as a piggy bank. Feel like the game will get abandoned when Dune comes out.

I don't see it getting abandoned myself, the two games seem like they'll be different enough to not necessarily compete for the exact same player base, but also any company would prefer to have two successful games rather than one. Prices are generally way too high though, which is just as confusing when they drop stuff like Arcane Revisited which was quite reasonably priced when I think most expected it to be a bit more expensive

Great review of the bundle. That being said, funcom has no shame. Not only have they switched completely to the battle pass money grab crap, they are also unable to offer some interesting sets. Why not offer a nice medieval themed pack? Most of their designs and items the battle passes offered so far, are either lazy or straight up ugly. Funcom couldn’t care less about bugs, like in this bundle. Annoying company.

Visually its clear the devs would rather be designing things for another property. This armor set isnt Conan at all. Would have been more suitable to make a Romanesque theme jousting grear than late middle ages style.

I don't think so, I couldn't dig up much information on Poitain outside of a couple of sources, but it's most definitely a cavalry-heavy region in terms of military. Conan is basically an amalgamation of proto-versions of "modern" civilizations, so I don't think this style of armor is that out of place, same with the Zingaran Conquistador stuff in the battle pass. I wouldn't want them to go any further than late middle ages though

I will wait until the armor I really care about the most is available for purchase separately, but I encourage everyone to boycott this set and not buy it. I really wish they would have put more resources into "completing" the Isle lf Siptah, or creating more/newer DLC packs, rather than piecemealing buggy packs that give us 1/10 to 1/100th of what they used to. I did see the comment earlier about it not being sustainable, but their current course is less so, due to the rate of bugs and issues - and while some are cosmetic, they still somehow end up breaking game mechanics, or take away resources and time away to slap a coat of paint over glaring issues.

I'm not too sure who designed it, the Conan team has a few good artists, they sometimes post their work on Twitter after it's been put into the game. This armor appears to be based on 14th - 16th century European jousting armor. The helmet in particular was apparently popular in 15th & 16th century Germany, where it was called a Stechhelm, and was designed as such to protect the eyes from lances splintering. The armor itself isn't wholly accurate, but it seems close enough. You can definitely see some inspiration and designs taken from images of real life jousting armor from that time period, just with some changes to make it a bit more fitting to the game

Definitely some creative license going on, but with so little to go on from the source material, it doesn't bother me too much. Picts are sort of celts, sort of not. They do seem to have a Celtic influence of some sort but distinct enough to not be directly Celtic, from what I know
