*sigh* Guess I gotta get the 300 raptors. I recently got the 300 pliers wrench and it’s amazing. The logic of “300 does all the 250 can do and then some” checks out. That’s how it’s been with my pliers wrenches now that I have the 300. I haven’t been using my 250 as much. 180 and 300 most of the time.

I wish Knipex made a 600 version of the cobra. I'm an electrician and I do a lot of large pipe bending/threading, I have the 560s and they are great. But when you get up to 4-in rigid conduit they are big enough to comfortably grab the pipe, however I feel they are just a bit too small to comfortably get around the coupling. The outer diameter of 4 inch rigid coupling is probably getting close to 5 inches or more.

Their pipe wrench sizes over 560mm go 650mm and then 750mm. Either one of those would be pretty cool to have in a Cobra. I run into 6” octagonal fittings every once in a while. 750mm Cobras would make easy work of those.

I love the knipex cobra pliers, I have one 250mm version with quickset mechanism and confort handles, it is my most used one. The only one missing is the 560mm one. The xl version 400 mm is enough for me. Never needed something bigger. I think they are the most popular knipex tools.

I have the 300 & 400mm in Alligator & Pliers Wrench... they see regular; but not every day use. Wouldn't be without. The larger Pliers Wrench serves as a fantastic 'field press' for pressing smaller bushings, bearings & similar chores. Also note that the 400mm Alligators are configured significantly different than other Alligator family members. Even so, it's the 180mm Cobras & Alligators that see 95 plus percent of my plier use...

The cobras are great for plumbing applications. Especially when access becomes tricky and you can't necessarily fit a large pipe wrench in a tight area.

Love the 560, it's not as expensive as a quality pipewrench that size and you can use it for in a lot more situations. Last time I used it to pull tent pegs. It grips like noting else and you can almost stand straight using it.

I had a couple of smaller size Knipex Cobras. Then I went into a situation which was unable to remove the stubborn gas cylinder on one of my office chairs with a traditional pipe wrench. Ended up using a 250 cobra with a pair of steel pipes as extension and then the cylinder came off at first attempt. My immediate next move was heading to Amazon and ordered the 400.

funny you brought that up. One of the few times I've used a proper pipe wrench was replacing gas cylinder on my aeron chair. the pipe wrench FINALLY got it to move. I don't think I could have done that with the knipex though. I needed the leverage and I'd have lost it if I had to hold the handles. Since it was a part I was discarding, having the pipe wrench to bite into the chair post was how it finally budged.

You may need these big toys if you a plumber taking care of water pipes made of steel in an old block of flats or a sky-scraper. However nowadays everyone switches to plastic pipes and probably a plastic pipe welder is used more often.

I agree that Cobra 300 have the best ratio between functionality and size. I am industrial electrician and also i do heating plumbing for houses, so in my opinion 90% of the time this tool is enough for doing the job. Of course, every size have a particulary duty, so it is a place for everyone, if the toolbag do not become to heavy.

The 250 cobra is the only one available with VDE 1000V insulated grips. You should check it. 👍

@@danielmihai5 I hope that you, as an electrician, understand the importance of using VDE insulated tools. It happened to me once on a small plumbing job, that a heating pipe was "hot", it was over 60 volts on it. Later I was told, that the owner was crazy. I still live thanks to the insulation on my cobra handles. Better to burn fuses, than your skin or heart.

I don't remember for sure, but I think it was around 2018 or so that there were some updates and refinements in the Cobra design.

The 7 and 10 inch is pretty much all you need. Anything bigger of smaller then you probably should use a different tool for the job. And I’m sorry, but cobras will never out work a pipe wrench and that’s coming from someone who loves the knives cobras.
