@@Baldjotarokujo right. Nobody with just low self esteem would stay through that. TLC clearly pays them both I would hope, she has chef backing her and she can make her own money if she's willing to do the social media gig like the other cast members. I've went through abuse before and stayed with a family member longer than I should have cause eventually there is that Ed period where it gets good again so your brain fools you into thinking this permanent when it's not. Only difference is I didn't have the income to get on my own and last back then. Liz has the job, a manager who seems willing to help her out if she fell on hard times and she has the country backing her to leave Ed and she's not ugly. No reason for her to stay. If she was food stamps and welfare poor then maybe. Even then it's not wise to stay with Ed

I love how Rose saw his abusive behaviour and called him out very sharply without any BS and ended it there. Liz has issues to see LilEd for the manipulator he is. He is such a gaslighting, insecure boy that knows he has nothing to offer, but his ego convinced him otherwise and by isolating and controlling his partners, he is cheaply attempting to gaslight them to endure his BS. Who could?

I came to the Philippines and never left over ten years ago so I can definitely say with qualification that scenes with Rose's home life and family were as adorable as they were genuinely classic. It isn't surprising that she'd she'd be sharp enough to see a slug like Big ugly Ed coming from half a planet away because she certainly did before he even bought his ticket to travel half a planet to dip his wick in something that would typically spit in his eye for getting caught gazing at it on a San Diego beach. And spotting all manor of losers of all ages and types would most definitely be in her DNA. Especially since a genuine part of the diversity in the local cultural social dynamics is a remarkable percentage of young women coming of age and after looking over all their options, choosing to diversify them by dating & marrying older men, sometimes as older as their parent's and even grandparents as an alternative to young men their own age that don't even know what they wanna do when they grow up except knock up as many local girls as they can smoose out of their knickers before ghosting off to another of the over 1,700 islands. Loosely translated, girls from the provincial countryside have options that are pretty much limited to homegrown small business enterprise, higher education or marrying well only to classically end up living in a bamboo shack with 5 kids by the time they're in their 20s married to a scrawny gap-toothed alcoholic pig farmer or fisherman her mom's age. So, since the local culture is no-less classically not near as xenophobic about things as Americans are so notoriously fond of pretending not to be, if Big ugly Ed had actually been anything of sincere sensible human with any integrity he may well have married her in good faith and even been embraced by her family as the best thing to come along since MacArthur's return. But for the fact that Big ugly Ed did virtually everything no sensible western man would ever do with any hope of success in such an adventurous undertaking by actually spending over 5K U$D buying stuff for an illusion he met on the web just 3 Mos. before that obviously staged arrival at the Metro Manila Airport, witch would've almost certainly resulted in a classic scene of Big 'Stupid' ugly Ed wondering around crying like a lost child stood up and ghosted. That is, were it not for a cute poor humble otherwise unsophisticated local island girl and part time amateur web hustler from the provincial countryside haphazardly blundering into a gold mine with an American reality tv network, and after only a few days of indignity before dumping Big ugly Ed and sending him to sulk into the south pacific sunrise having might as well have won the frkn Lottery. LMFAO😂! Damn that's adorable! and as genuinely classic as it can get🤣!

At this point let's be brutally honest: Liz has been abused either physically or sexually by a past boyfriend or family member on top of some preexisting issues which is why she sticks by Ed. This does NOT apply to all victims of course but unless he has dirt on her that's too serious to get out or she's poorer than she lets on, there is no plausible reason for her to get trashed and abused by this guy. Ed gives vibes he would push Liz down the steps and hurt her if he could.

Listen, I dated a burn victim once & am still asked to this day why I dated him because of his looks. I decided to give him a chance since I thought I liked him but his true colors came out. He would yell at his mom, break her things, tackle me for not playing rap music at parties (not kidding) & constantly wrecked our cars. He was also a drunk & abusive, I was straight out of high school (07). I left during the middle of the night & never looked back. To this day he gets wasted & speaks about me, texts or calls me, & still carries photos of me around. I feel like Rose & Liz will be treated the same by Ed & he will always be trying to talk to or be around them in some way. He very much comes off as grandiose & just like my ex, they been treated special because of their problems. It sucks & Liz needs to let him go. She knows he will still bother her. It's a terrible cycle.

@@thenewmexicantexan thank you 💜I have & it definitely taught me a life lesson at a very young age. I went through sooooo much from him I could write a book. Sadly, he is near death;actually has flat lined twice due to his alcoholism & has cirrhosis. He survived the explosion (not the "typical" burn victim since it wasnt a fire, it was a propane leak) He's beat death 3 times, yet won't stop drinking because he has seizures & can pass away. Instead of seeking treatment. I can't be his savior though. Plot twist: we do have a son together. I was on birth control, so was one of the 1% & my baby saved me. In my 18/19 year old mind, I thought our son would make him change. It only got worse. The first time he visited him at hospital he was so high on pills that he came for 15 minutes then went home to mommy. Like I said, I could go on & on. I only speak to him if it has anything to do with our son & he barely sees him, but it's safer that way & my son's decision. So...if there are any young girls who have read all this far, be picky on who you date. Don't go looking for only the good in people. Pay attention to their actions & words before you end up in a situation you can't get out of. Make smart decisions & always have your own money, own place or a safe haven 💜

Liz needs to call a lawyer. By this time that ring belongs to her. It was a gift. The only legal argument people can make for taking back a ring is that it was a conditional gift, (aka it was a gift with the condition of marriage) BUT he gave it back to her and said that she was his girlfriend, not engaged, but he still wanted her to wear it. Therefore, it’s no longer conditional. It’s a GIFT! She should keep that ring as a reminder that she deserves more. At least, consider it a souvenir. 😂She earned that shit.

I was raised by a vulnerable narcissist. Key points: - They try to make people seem crazy, that's a red flag, normal people don't try to convince people someone else is crazy, it's a preemptive tactic - They get upset when called a narcissist, other people don't care, I'd find it funny, they get very upset - They are never wrong, ever, even if it means switching sides halfway through, and if you call them out, they'll gaslight you that the problem is you weren't listening - They always want to "knock you down a peg" and if you're very happy or successful, they'll insult you, or downplay what you did, so they don't have to acknowledge excellence in someone else - They are hypercritical and even if you do 9 huge things for them, and you said you'd do 10 but didn't get to the last one, they're going to solely focus on the 1 you didn't do - Anything you say or do "wrong" becomes a defining feature of your flaws, you wouldn't be like that or do that if you "just tried" not to, and failings are not a regular thing, they're exemplary of your shortcomings - They condition their love for you based upon how satisfactory they find you, they will say they never loved you or even liked you, because they know it hurts, and they'll act like you do nothing to show them love, even if you bend over backwards Run the fuck away from anyone who does any of that. Any of it. These people are severely psychologically damaging. And they'll make you think it's you. Not them. Just do a 180° and nope the fuck out.

So when a relationship comes along, that’s your normal and it gives you a high tolerance for the pain. At the same time, you’re chasing that closure that you didn’t get as a child- this person that keeps leaving and treating me badly, if I can get Them to actually love me, I’ll feel like I’m finally ok. I really don't get why some have hated on liz from the very beginning. Rose is the definition of leveling up after a breakup. Liz is the definition of what desperate need for validation looks like. Her dignity and daughter be damned, she’s hooked on Big Toad like a junkie. St this point it’s just a spiral that you can’t look away from. I say this as somebody who’s been subjected to BRUTAL emotional manipulation and had to face reality. You either want to leave or you don’t. Sounds cold, but it’s the truth.

her before pics are crazy like this man has _actually_ dragged her down to his level. His behavior equates to desperate rats gnawing at the logical part of her brain to survive. I was in a long term (well over 5 years) relationship in which the lies and constant story maintenance started small but the perps' behaviors will always intensify in complexity + permanence the longer you put up with that malicious shiet like its normal. He won't let her work, he insists SHE needs to work on being sexy again but not too hard so other men don't even look her way whilst giving him an excuse to talk to "hot asian girls" and build his backup roster. He's manipulating something/someone at any given moment and I really wish someone on that stage used those exact words. I hope she gets back to being herself again.

It is the truth. I was in a terribly abusive relationship that led to me failing out of college. I finally realized I was ruining my life at that point. Around the same time they threw a bookcase down on top of me and held a hammer up threatening to swing, making me finally leave because the thought of being killed entered my head. Looking back, the earlier I would have left, the better it would have been. My life improved dramatically very quickly (I cut them off 100% immediately after years of being in a relationship). I've met someone who truly loves me and wouldn't ever make me feel the pain I was, and I went back and graduated college. I would have fell even further into a hole if I stayed. This entire time, people were telling me to leave, but I was convinced that they would evolve as a person (convinced they are permanently fucked up now). It's almost like addiction, until the person wants it to truly end, it won't. And it has to be a very internal switch made (I suggest people seek therapy or tell their doctor in these relationships).

@@babylej Update: I’m in a much more healthier relationship and I’ve honestly been myself again after I broke up with my ex. It was honestly hard because I was in a relationship for 6 years and during those times, I was in complete denial. You live and you learn. My last relationship has taught me that if you notice red flags, leave right away. Also ladies, please if you’re in a relationship and a guy calls your mom a bitch and a useless cunt because she has her concerns and wants what’s best for you, please dump his ass. My mom who’s an old school 63 year old Filipino woman who’s very old fashioned had so many concerns about my relationship with my ex. My ex had the audacity to call her a bitch and a useless cunt. Because I was terrified of him, I didn’t know how to defend myself when he called my family especially my mom horrible names. I’m a nurse, so I take care of a lot of patients. My ex called the hospital that I worked at and told my charge nurse that I could only take care of female patients and not male patients. And he got mad at me because my boss (he’s gay) texted me “hey sunshine ❤️” which he would text everyone that and told me to not talk to my boss anymore. My ex was exactly like Ed, always played victim and made everything about himself and put the blame all on me to make him look like he’s a good guy and to make me turn out being the bad person. The mental and emotional abuse was horrible that it turned to physical abuse too. Throwing stuff at me, throwing and slamming my phone on the table, punching holes in my bedroom wall. I couldn’t take it anymore, I almost took my own life because of my ex. That’s what I’m afraid of with Liz, that there’ll be news that she committed suicide because of Ed.

Honestly, hearing about Liz having problems with her mom because she spent so much time on her little brother reminds me of my older sister. She was the same way and acted similarly as Liz in relationships. I was born with a very rare disorder that required hospital stays, tons of experimental surgery, two trips out of state a year on top of being in these bodycasts for months each year from ages 1-10. I was always in a lot of pain and my condition was so rare no one knew what to expect. There was a lot of tension in the family over it. It really, really hit my sister hard. Luckily, she has worked on herself and later she worked on her relationship with our mom. I really hope Liz is able to work out that trauma for herself. People see someone with special needs and focus on how it relates to that persons life and to be honest it hurts the whole family. But the other children get treated as if they're lucky, and while I can't say I still don't get jealous of my siblings being "normal" and not having constant issues like I do, I wasn't the only one suffering. The one in need of extra support to survive isn't the only one who loses a normal childhood.

It can be so difficult sometimes when you have a sibling with special needs, rather parents are aware or not they DO treat their children differently & you pick up on it at a very young age. My older sister has special needs & I can tell you I've had a lot of issues with feeling acknowledged & loved in the same way my siblings are. I'm the middle child of 3 kids my older sister & my little brother who's not only the baby but he was the only boy on my dad's side for 25+ years. I've always completely understood how difficult my parents have it & how difficult my sister has had it but & plz don't get me wrong I love them, my parents haven't always been fair with me in particular & I saw this at a very young age. I remember them essentially making me the "eldest" asking me to help pick up the slack or watch my brother while they both take my sister to Dr appts, telling me that I'm responsible for caring for my sister when they get old or even told to be grateful that I'm not as disabled or sick as my sister, despite having a lot of issues myself like 11 surgeries by the age of 25 many of the bone reconstruction or hip replacements I spent months once in the hospital & remember being left alone because my sister and brother "needed my mom more". After I started having issues my parents just labeled me the "fragile child" I would get sick pretty often because severe asthma would cause me to get bronchitis a lot or would need reconstruction surgery a lot on my joints but it was never the same as when my sister would get sick & I never understood why. If I ever said anything they would tell me "your sister needs a lot of care" and I understand that but sometimes even now that I'm 27 it's a lot I have to deal with & am expected to do to help. Children do notice these things & when ur young u don't always understand it, it can feel very painful and lonely but u feel like u can't say anything because that's selfish or wrong so u just kind of go though it alone. I understand how Liz must feel in some ways like she doesn't deserve that same kind of love & affection or that she should be grateful for what little she gets & if she says anything she's risks looking like an ungrateful brat or that what little she does get could be taken away. It's very difficult to simply walk away or change those thoughts because it's been conditioned in you for your whole life. I don't have resentment or anything I just wanted to express what it's like having a disabled or special needs sibling from a different perspective & let some people know that these feelings do happen & that it really does affect the whole family in lots of different ways to have a family member have special needs.

I clicked on this expecting funny shots aimed at Ed, which I got, but I wasn't expecting to also receive everything I needed to hear in therapy. Damn, dude. Thank you. 😂

I wish Liz would get extensive therapy. She needs desperately to rebuild her self esteem and leave that little toad for good!

1st step of DA is isolating the victim. Ed couldn't abuse Rose b/c she has a strong support system. Liz doesn't have a support system nor family. Ed doesn't have to isolate Liz and he doesn't have the slowly break her down because others have done that for him. Thats all she knows and doesn't believe she can have a good man

Rose was living in poverty and showering with a rat the size of a small dog, and even still, she loved herself enough to nope the fuck out with Ed. What does that tell us about Liz?
