Thank you. One thing i dont understand on female rols in cdrama is the fact that adult woman act like a yung girl her voice , look, the way she moves . And she can be a doctor but male lead actor will be allways smarter and stronger . And one more thing a di from the word emperor is from the qin dynasty and it refer to a god a well knwon one back at the qin

I'm really really sorry about the news I have just heard. Well watching your channel is always a pleasure, you always inform us about the facts about this industry which I have no idea about it, I really appreciate it, but the news are really upsetting. I have been waiting for them to be released very eagerly, and some of the dramas, even though they have been released they have not been subbed till nowsuch as Nothing Gold Can Stay or the legend of the dragon pearl.

thank you for notifying me, actually I have watched the first 2 episode 3 months ago at that channel, and since then I have been checking the channel very persistently. there was no progress at all, they still did not subbed the episode 3 when I check it out last time but on your warning I have checked again and I realized they have skipped the 3rd episode but it appears 4th and 5th has subs(I did not watch fully only checked first 2 minutes of them). and another thing was that it seems there are two version of the same episode and the one which has more ratings has the subs, not the other one. Again thank you for notifying me, otherwise, I would not dare to check the same channel because I was discouraged due to my previous unsuccessful attempt to find subs for the 3rd episode.

ahh i see, no worries but it's good that we are starting to see some progress with fans subbing internationally for chinese related series

thanks for the support and also, guys, the link about the Legend of Dragon Pearl serie, I think the group has dropped the subbing, because 3 months ago I also attempted to start the serie and the channel offered sub until 5th Ep, and I again checked there was no progress at all. Fingers crossed, praying for it to be translated officially.

I've noticed that Chinese government have a lot of say in what can and can't be done in their dramas, honestly it's a bit much, so many restrictions! I agree with your take on the new period drama restrictions, although my hope is that it would reduce the amount of episodes in a drama. I tend to stick to series around 50 or less, sometimes I think that is too long as it is, to stretch it further would be way too much. I grew up watching TVB series where we used to get thirty episodes a drama, so as a young child I always thought the odd CDrama here and there were way too long. Now that I'm older I can appreciate the length and the way a story is told, but I still think there's too much we don't need to know. So maybe if they go shorted we can get some more creative story telling. And I'm a bit over female eccentric dramas. They're a bit overdone at this stage, all with the same elements and they always have the same actresses in the main role! Same faces over and over again.

I was looking forward to Win the World and thought it looked different and interesting compared to other Chinese period dramas. I may see it from a non-Chinese point of view but I say some people need to chill. It's tv and it could reach people who are not reading a history book while watching every teaser and drama out there analyzing the accuracy. Yes, Win the World looks SO different but it could change tv land in China.

Ah, I was looking forward to Win the World, but I can understand that people get upset; although we do not have many shows taking place in Norwegian Viking times, it still is annoying to see wrong clothes, customs and ESPECIALLY the horned helmets. And we don't even know that much about the Viking Age and its culture compared to China, so it must be extra upsetting when they do it wrong when there is more information. I have been kind of wondering about the whole "He loves me, She hates me" thing going on in so many Chinese dramas, and I guess that was why some period dramas like The Virtuous Queen of Han kept me watching, because even if the second male lead's love for the empress was becoming tiring, I apprecaited that the other concubines respected her and that the ones that disliked her were manipulated or victim of misunderstandings. While I'm sure the real-life harem was filled with rivalries and violence, I appreciated a break where the women's relationship could be teensy bit more complicated than "the guy I crush on/was arranged to become concubine to likes you, thus I hate you with every fibre of my being!"

China's productions should really take a hint from BBC's miniseries, sometimes a 3 episode "series" could have more of an impact than most of the bloated Wuxia or long series. Oh yeah, thank God Cheng Kaige built his new Tang city, If I have to see that eye sore of Qin Palace in Hengdian again (you know, that square courtyard, and that narrow wall alley) I'm going to gouge my eyeballs out.

Regulations kill creativity but at least 3 big productions based on dramas I've seen recently are having really ridiculous and long fighting scenes that were really uninteresting, and done in 3Xs extra slow motion. I think they need to put a regulation on that. First it was General and I, followed by LOCH 2017, Princess Agents, and then The King's Woman. (You should do a collections of all those scenes, they are ridiculous!) No, they are not cool and no where near the word kick ass, I believe they are not going to get any better soon. I understand it when it comes to the fantasy magic power fighting type of thing, but not when they're supposed to be real life combats.

I think ip dramas are killing the creativity. If you can’t find novels with an interesting female lead, why not write an original script? If they keep feeding off the novel fans they can only wait till some author writes something really popular and interesting, which I don’t think is the way to go.

Exactly how I see it too. Even if there is a good story, it is always fat chance thy will find somebody who match how a character was written and described anyway. So of course they go with the idols with biggest names out there. But I prefer if you write something specifically to match the actors then that will be much better.

Enjoyed watching and learning from you in this video! Is the Chinese TV world operating this way due to them being “government” entity as opposed to Western world’s private enterprises? It just seems such a waste; no good producer would initiate a project without making sure somehow that the chances of showing are good?

I spot two actresses I like or can tolerate the rest I am not excited about to watch their dramas since the past years they haven't been doing that well in many dramas. I'm still hoping Siege in Fog and Ruyi's Royal Love in The Palace will air. I'm also waiting for The Destiny of The White Snake (?) or whatever it was called. The voice actors and actresses seem pretty cool in that one. Not sure which other Chinese drama with good plots will come out this year but I'll find out later I guess. Hoping this year and next year we'll have even better dramas come out more than last year.

I'm really interested in what your thoughts are on Yan Xi Gong Lue. Would it be considered a "big female lead drama"? I know the actors are not exactly A-listers, but the trailer showed some very very solid acting. It's touted as the "reverse" of Ruyi, and in my opinion the production is impressive and personally I like it's palette more than Ruyi (despite the posters for Ruyi being phenomenal).

I think I see the point of the 100 episodes policy. I think it's a great idea, but there needs to be regulation on productions. Maybe if each series have less than 30 episodes, there will be more on TV. I feel like series are getting longer but storylines are loosing in quality because there is so much focus on little details that do not have contribution to the storyline whatsoever. I've seen dubbed versions of my favorite series that are cut down to 10 episodes and I still love them: if not, even more. They need to work on regulating this policy and not let major productions Monopoly over networks.

Yeah.... the flashbacks in tribes and empires killllllled me. I was like wth... does the person putting the scenes together not know how to properly do flashbacks?? Goodness... I switched to a Korean drama in between episodes just to kill time and I was so refreshed by the ability of that drama to properly do flashbacks lol! It’s too bad that period dramas are gonna be forced to drag on for the sake of competition. That’s really annoying and frankly... stupid. Watching any drama already consumes so much time, then to extend it with pointless material??? That just makes me angry lol. China’s government is doing too damn much in my opinion. 😑

It's could be a nice drama, but it's like child play drama because of how the producer or editor did. I always skip the boring scenes. 75 eps is crazy with the ending. I watch A Korean Odyssey (korean Drama) it is refreshing. If you don't watch it yet, you can try.

I really think that 30 episodes is an average number dramas nowadays should be close to.The beginning could be very interesting or boring but once you reach the mid-way point of the series it starts to go downhill due to unnecessary complications such as misunderstandings. This is where I tend to skip when I'm not meant to and then the ending becomes rushed. If they can drag a whole misunderstanding from mid-way of a drama why would they suddenly rush the ending? Over a decade ago most historical/ancient/period dramas usually revolve around females outside of the palace and ventures around with fair screen time as the male leads. I think there should be a more diverse plot line and settings. No offence but even if it's an outside setting, they change it into fantasy and if it's based on an inside setting then it goes back to the palace. Many of the IP female leads used to be much better actresses as a supporting character back in the old days in comparison to now. I find web dramas much better as the episode count are lower and it's often 36 mins per ep than 45 min. Maybe because of restrictions so those series chose to be aired as a web drama but I do find myself enjoying web dramas more.

@momotwci36216 жыл бұрын
The main responsibility of China's film and television is not the General Administration of radio and television, but the person in the film and television industry. The General Administration of radio and television (SARFT) does not stipulate that IP plays must be taken, and people in the industry have to take IP plays themselves. They think that the adaptation of the novel is the simplest and can make money. And when it's adapted, the more stupid the better. But I personally think that China does not need a big female drama, because almost all the white lotus Marysu woman, or to love the service, with the so-called feminism also never mind. As for the palace douju, there is a product of extreme male culture, with the so-called feminism also never mind. Personally, I was fed up with the endless court play of the Qing Dynasty, and always in the Qing Dynasty, I did not know how to change a dynasty. The emperor's wife together a lot of jealousy in my opinion itself is very boring. Don't mention creativity. Your demand for Chinese film and television is too high. When they don't take Chinese spectators as a fool, they can do the trick. And I don't think foreign fans will see Chinese play because of IP and policy. Because no matter how Chinese drama is different from other dramas, they can be happy, and they sell abroad very little every year, so they won't be bored with it. For the Chinese people, it will be very annoying. Creativity? There is no basic creative attitude, so do not mention creativity. I am studying film and television myself. There is an original script, and you don't mention it. It's good to make a good adaptation of the novel. And now, China is a popular network drama, not now the so-called TV drama, so it is not so important to be able to play on the TV. a lot of network drama is more open.i recommend you i am not huang guo sheng.
Chinese dramas are really getting worst. I mean, they used to have so many interesting and worth watching drama back then with really good editing and plot but dramas nowadays are so repetitive and the storylines are so predictable. I really hope China drama can somehow up their game sigh

most webnovel with Female lead all have this BIG Female Role criteria... so... either hate, love, with the FL... again, some issue in tv series are perhaps not big deal for us... but for some minority ethnic, almost same case as race in movie. but some issue can be sensitive and hard to predict how people perceive it, so better tone down it.
