Another great video. Loved seeing the sheepshead, and especially the reds and snook at end. Same cold front here. Water got down to 41 degrees. Led me to catching 144!! redfish in 3 days from the kayak. Can check out a video from last week at ThePentUpAngler. Good luck ahead. Cheers!

That cold snap really did a number on the peacocks too... many dead ones seen on Tamiami Trail and Alligator Alley

Great fishing! That cold front was devastating. I'm not used to big changes in water temperature - around here, seawater is about 58ºF in winter and 68ºF in summer.

It was sad to see quite a few dead snook by the marina the other day. But nothing like the freeze we had over a decade ago. Good to see that you found at least one hungry snook.

I guess we're lucky it wasn't worse. I covered quite a bit of water and saw only two, so hopefully the kills were small and localized.

Hi John Where do you get your fiddler crabs in the wintertime in Florida. Going to Clearwater next week and bait shops do not have them.
@BlueWilderness2392 жыл бұрын
Scouted matlacha Saturday and Sunday. Quite a few dead tilapia and mahara floating about. Fishing with slow but the tides weren't great either. Between the hurricane and the cold front fishing has been rough

I'm glad you didn't see dead snook.

hey John, any particular reason you cut the crab instead of hooking it whole? Love the content. Your newest book just shipped!
@JohnSkinnerFishing2 жыл бұрын
I cut the larger crabs because they're so hard to get and it gives me two baits.

Hi again John, Assuming you were able to keep some of the fish on this trip how do you bleed them on the kayak? Being that space is limited, do you bleed them into the cooler or hang them overboard( although that seems kind of dangerous considering some of the other inhabitants down there) or do you not bleed them? Thanks as always.

Those houses are cool, wonder how that works, do they 'own' the water around it? Think I'd be sleep-fish-eat and repeat non-stop

People think they own the water around those houses but they in fact do not.

The moment you said “if,” I said aloud, “John, don’t jinx it.” Nice fish to end the vid. Happy New Year, sir.

How do you catch those little crabs? New viewer, maybe you've covered that in another video. Thanks!

Just curious what would you estimate the weight of your biggest sheeps? You should stop here in Va. to fish the bay for 12 and 14 lbers.
@JohnSkinnerFishing2 жыл бұрын
No clue, but teen sheeps would really be something!

If you loosen your drag, and pull an inch of line off the reel on the rods sitting on your kayak they won't whistle like that.

Hmmm, I’ve had completely unrigged rods sticking out of the back of my truck on the beach make that sound in the middle of the night, was pretty sure that was the wind going over the guides like when u blow air over an open beer bottle but I guess I could b wrong

Are (or were) people living in those stilt houses?

Definitely not. They're old commercial fishing ice houses.
