For me its a bit sad that they choose to fake the physics everyone asked for with some random movement. Especially the rotation doesn't look right when it keeps rotating at the same speed in and out of corners. Especially double tubes don't tend to rotate IRL all that much due to the way water pushes the tubes forward and the roundness of the slides centers it somewhat

At 4:50, I'm also speculating a bit, but this does in fact seem to be one of many possible new animations depending on the speed entering the special piece. They were talking about special piece routes (plural) and said in the demonstration that the new fly trap animation was an example of the raft coming in slowly and not having enough speed, while subsequently demonstrating what could happen with too much speed (resulting in a loop). Of course in the real world a loop is very possible with too much speed, just like it's possible to throw guests out of the slide to their death, the park would simply be shut down or sued out of existence for safety violations and injuries...but we can still choose to have fun with this in a video game or choose to design realistic rides that don't kill our guests. 😊 Whatever they ultimately provide, I'm looking forward to the ongoing updates!

I personally think the tube & raft slides need to be replaced entirely, because they were poorly designed from the get-go. But they will still need to keep the old slides intact for all the parks and blueprints that are already in the game, so might as well touch them up as much as possible & have some fun with them!

Reminder that the full physics updates do not come out tomorrow. All we are getting are the bounces on the slides. Everything discussed after 2 minutes into Frontier's video is for a future update(s). So don't be disappointed when those changes don't done, and remember that what is seen so far is by far not the final version (but still do complain though, because "it's not finished" has proven to not be a working defense for problems with the future content they show off).

It's because the tube & raft flumes are badly designed at their core, and _cannot_ be fixed. They need to be replaced entirely, but we will have to wait several month before something bigger like that will ever happen. I recommending looking forward to other additions like more themes in the meantime.

I am unsure with why the people are disappointed. I see this as a MASSIVE improvement. I’d rather some physics than none on things like flumes and slides. Yes we would have preferred a RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 type physics but what we have here is definitely better and doable in my opinion

To truly fix the tube slides requires a total redo that wouldn't have been possible for this December update. But I think the body flumes are coming along really nicely. Those, and the pools, are by far the most polished water park features so far.

I’m confident Frontier will add as much of our requests to the game as they can. It all depends on what systems exist in the game engine. There are some features they will not be able to add without making a new game engine. Only they know what those features are. Every player wants different things/changes to the game. Give Frontier time and support and I’m sure they will make PC2 the best theme park game ever.

I'm glad they're listening to us about fixing the flume mechanics, but it's clear they have a long way to go. I'm sure this is something they'll continually work on. I agree with you that it's great to see them taking their time. I know what they showed was a work in progress, so hopefully the final version that makes it into the game is exactly what we want.

It's easier to make a loop. Ragdoll physics takes a lot of work. Ragdoll physics should be the last feature worked on because your guest shouldn't experience it. That's just a fun thing to play with,But more important features should be prioritized.

See to me this really isn’t an issue how it looks goin down a slide, I want something functional, right now basically no one was going on slides and in the pools if you combine it with a normal park. But what I’m saying is fix and add features that we have been wanting, then once major features come then you can fix the realism with it. Like the coasters unload load stations is actually a functional feature that we have been wanting, but everything else really isn’t a playable feature. Like where is bug issue fixes for staff members taking breaks even though you have the setting off, also where’s the duel load and unload stations, or better stability for less lag. Fixing how the water slides look doesn’t seem like it should be the number 1 priority right now

Rudi do you think this means no holidays DLC for PC2 because they would have paired it up with the free update? Very odd as LQA and external were updated on steamdb but then all depots made private. Was expecting a holidays DLC as tradition with zoo and JWE but seems we have to wait until the new year?

The more "random" movement is good, but as you said it still feels like they are painted test dummies. The guests flaying off steep drops is great, but i want them to go flying if they have too much speed in curves as well. With the fly trap slide (3:37) having the tube come straight out then go into a 90 degree turn is rather dumb. It makes that specific slide element useless, that's one where i think they should revert back to the old pre-animated behavior.

What I find so odd is, the second a raft or person leaves the ride the physics are spot on. The curve they fly in, the waving of their arms to hold position, the distance it travels. Even the bounce on the ground of the inflatables is pretty correct. So there IS a good physics engine. Not sure why they're not brave enough to use it.

Without considering what can and cannot be done: I would like to see the effect of water toward people and rings. When a ring bumps back against the water, it should lose its speed a bit and go back along with the speed of the water. Speaking of speed of water, the water in the slides does move very slowly. Doesn't seem to go down as smoothly. In a curve, the water should come up more as it changes direction. This way the ring can also move naturally in the slide.

I love the flying off the slides😭😭😭 hopefully though as they said it was IMPROVEMENTS to flume physics behaviour, which hopefully means this won’t be around for a huge amount of time. They are clearly working on it, but we need real physics. It could be to do with performance, who knows. Hope they fix it soon though

The main thing they have to do is make the people and waterattractions like the river rapids for example freely move with physics, right now they are all stuck to invisible rails. Even with the new spinning this was clearly visible. Bumping into a wall and then spinning/reacting to it with the curve needs to happen, and they have done it before, the river rapids from the RCT3 soaked dlc for example were that way. It wasn't perfect, but sold it much better than what we have now, sadly PC1 wasn't better. Parkitect does it better as well.

5:20 my guess is that they made different “paths” for different speeds, otherwise programming would be hell. But that’s probably why it looks a bit wonky, since it’s probably a bit too fast for its current path but too slow for the next path

That can't be. The second a raft or person leaves the ride, they are accurately calculated. Even the inflatable bounces off scenery correctly. I build a custom slide and it was better than the ingame one...

I'm fairly positive with the flume updates shown so far. I got a nice lol at the flume ejections shown! Once that is finished, pools and body flumes will _by far_ be the most polished and nicest-looking water park elements in PC2. The new mat and tube bobbing & spinning animations add a decent touch of life to the tube flumes. Everyone will still complain about the tube slides being flat and the way the rafts spin, but I'm going to be frank on this point: The tube and raft flumes are poorly designed at their core & _cannot_ be fixed. Frontier will try their best at making them look a bit nicer, but I'm of the opinion that the tube and raft flumes need to be replaced entirely. _From scratch._ The easiest thing they can do to correct those slides - giving them rounded bottoms, adding proper physics, etc. - is to add the corrected tube flumes as _brand new_ ride types. That will provide a clean break for the new correct tube slide code away from the old tube slide code, while also preserving the old code for legacy support (i.e. prevent breaking the game from changing the old code too much). For what it is, the way the tubes will spin now feels in line with how a _theoretical_ flat-bottomed slide would ride. The new special flume piece animations are bad, but it's still WIP. Everything I said in the last paragraph also applies here to the current special flume pieces. To sum up... don't get discouraged. Frontier is really booking it right now to fix the launch issues, and tomorrows update has a TON of positive changes. For me personally, I'm REALLY impressed at how well PC2 runs these mega parks that are finally starting to show up! I have a RX 7900XT and a Ryzen 7 7700, and PC2 runs SO MUCH BETTER than PC1 in EVERY regard! That _right there_ is why Planet Coaster 2 exists, and why PC1 was abandoned by Frontier: The engine improvements give a much more solid foundation to build the game on that PC2's potential is FAR greater than PC1's ever was.

Have they ever ridden a water slide? This still is not what a water slide is like. Why do they have a double person raft spinning? That doesn’t happen in real life. If you can’t do it properly then just don’t do it at all. It’s very frustrating. The only raft that should be spinning is the big one with the fly trap piece.

Pretty disappointed there's no update on hotels, given half the assets are resort decor, that seems pretty silly to me. Probably should have been a priority to put all those resort assets to use. No news on ATMS or security cameras either, and im still looking at a ton of misplaced items in the build menu while they focus on these slide physics. Don't get me wrong, Its a welcome addition, but there's a lot more that needs adding too. Hotels and ATMS is a pretty big one for me, Its hard to finish parks and blueprints knowing these facilities will need to be added to them after a future update which i'm now waiting around on.

Well, look at the slides themselves... all the tube and raft flumes are flat-bottomed, which _cannot_ be changed at this point. That flume type is just poorly designed, and there's not much they can do to fix it. What they _can_ do though is to add _new_ flume types later that function how they're supposed to in real life.

I don't have the game but one thing that I find really off putting (from watching lots of people's KZbin videos) is the speed at which foliage moves. It's seems way too fast at the moment and really needs to be slowed down.

There is a wind system in place. For most trees etc I'd say it's good. But there are some that are broken (weeping willow is horrible for example) - and as you often see people play in either 3x speed or speedbuilds it seems more dramatic. I find it okay for the most part. But I wouldn't mind it toned down a bit and only kept heavy for the storm

I think the very valid criticism is, that a 2024 game lacks behind a 20 year old game from the same studio. And I feel that is a fair point. If you release a game with pools being your main selling point, one could expect them to act at least the same way. Sure they look good, but also I reopened RCT3 DELUXE lately and was shocked how good the slides compare.

@ We’re not getting anything for Christmas, you’ll see… Custom sounds and panels are really important for many players. They add realism to the park. How is it possible not to include a feature that was already in two of their previous games? During the Q&A with the Steam community, they said that custom sounds and panels were super important to them and that they would be coming very, very soon. A month later, they release an update, and they add glass pieces and fireworks. Amazing :)… Seriously, we pay for games expecting them to be at least complete from the start… Ugh

Lol this feels worse to me... all of the animations are soooo unnatural.. its like they never went to a waterpark. The big pieces where you swoop up and down, now that it doesnt even go up, that piece isnt even worth placing due to the size. The whole point of the piece is gone now. It just needs to be more of a smooth swoosh up fast, slow slide down, and taper off to shoot back into the flume. The specific paths of the tubes as well you can easily tell to the eye its unnatural. The looping around the flumes too, i get it its playful but no waterpark will you ever go to where that happens thats a safety hazard if a waterslide is built like that. I can't give them props here this looks rushed, bad, unnatural, unrealistic and worse than before.... sorry... go visit a waterpark in a warm climate frontier!

Meanwhile, there are actually useful improvements and additions the devs could be working on instead.
