I watched a sheep eat a freshly hatched chick once. That was the day i learned most "obligate" herbivores eat animals every once in a while. Apparantly, bones are a great source of minerals for deer to regrow horns after winter, maybe thats why people who die in the woods never get found. Carnivores and bugs eat the flesh, and herbivores eat and scatter the bones. Theres even a trailcam video of a deer eating a rib.

But he is wrong? He isn’t like the Wolf, he has more in common with the sheep than he realizes The sheep would be able to kill him in a heartbeat if they were allowed to keep their horns … even female sheep in nature have horns The difference between him and the Wolf is that he has an owner and a master that he is accountable towards, and that master loves the sheep The Wolf has no master, and without standing together, they fall The viciousness came from the desperation, but the desperation is not just alone Sure, the wolf could spare the sheep who have no means of defense, as he does with fangs and claws Ultimately, he’s preferring the easy option and hoping that he can get one off on the master , which is why the master has a dog that serves them The dog is bread specifically to exist as the opposite of the wolf, the wolf is his prey As kin as Scot’s and Germans in the 40s… and among the Maccabees we find the inspiration for all Jewish justifications for combat… like sheep, they are kept without natural defenses to ensure they are more passive… Prisoners are prisoners, and to establish such dynamics as Big Jack did (dual consciousness aside) will lead to further isolation n depression, further his dysphoria Much like Chiririn’s Bell, it’s a really good story- as was this, I really like this kind of work and It’s very thought-provoking
@thanhannguyen560918 күн бұрын
If a dog is abandoned by its owner, do you think it would rather choose to starve to death in front off a delicious cattle? Sure, if the dog is well-trained it may control its instinct to live. But it wouldn't be 100% of all those dog. It would take character, training and perception, and even more. The point is, the sheep said its a good thing its kin is dead. It's understandable, but hardly justified.
@shepherdsofmelchizedek198518 күн бұрын
@@thanhannguyen5609 but by proxy you’re admitting then that it’s good. The sheep should die to feed the wolves, you can’t have it both ways you have to acknowledge the truth. The sheep have a right to not want to die and they have a right to see the predator as what it is. Something that feeds upon them, especially when they had their weakness specifically to feed itself. There’s nothing stopping them from eating meat, cattle and livestock do it all the time- but we’re assuming that the sheep don’t go around eating little animals for the extra nutrients Sometimes things are just what they are, I’m not familiar with the series- or the direction that it’s going- but philosophically, sometimes a noose is a noose- not just a good loop n knot Functionally, none of them would exist without the owner- and if the owner is a nonexistence, then yes, you would be right- but the implication is that the damage was already done by the masters presence- the domestication cannot be fully realized nor reversed is the notable thing we are discussing I suppose? It’s not so much that is wrong but that he’s only half right, like half of the equation being given before him I’ve seen the trope before which is why is said this is a good contrasting view to the same set up in Chrinin’s bell- it’s about a young Lamb who is on a vengeance quest to kill a wolve- and it’s a really messed up coming of age story- one of the few that can get me to cry at least lol The duality is something I think would be worth watching unfold, even with philosophical differences- as art and interpretation are not completely correlated, even if they are causal- or maybe have that reversed it’s one in the morning But I do like the implications of your reply, partly why I asked “ the lion will die down with the sheep” indeed could be an argued influenced on my take, but it’s an interesting notion- the application of ethical structures into a prototype based on mammalian limitations rather than solely personification alone

I studied wolves and, contrary to popular belief, they aren't so fond of Sheep meat. They prefer much more Wild ungulates like Wild Boar and Red/Roe Deer, even Bisons (and they're way harder to catch). The reason for eating lifestock is actually pretty understandable: as humans have cut off woods and forests to get room for lifestock, their natural preys' supply gets short, they starve and get forced to hunt the only reliable source of food left: lifestock. Sure, they may eat sometimes an abandoned sheep but in natural conditions this is very rare. About humans, well...they are utterly afraid of us and they're far less likely to attack than domestic dogs. Keep it in mind.

Had to take the horses and run them on circle for their hoof and joint health since during winter they are often inside the barn. My uncle saw the farmer’s Belgian Malinois on a distant. He approached it and suddenly the environment and the windy winter felt quiet The dog was staring at the dead body of a wolf, he’s not eating nor dragging or sniffing it or barking for the very least. He just sat there staring at the dead wolf. My uncle got off the horse and approached the dog and pet it, he understands the situation. Even my uncle felt pity to the dead wolf. At the end of the day we are just animals that just trying to survive. We often forget or never think about the unfortunate ones who couldn’t survive. I'd differentiate between relief and pleasure to understand the dog better. In the sense that it's understandable to be relieved by seeing someone die who could've killed you or your family. However, getting pleasure from someone's death implies that one would actively want to see things die who might threaten you. The latter has a darker implication as mentioned by the dog in the sense that searching for the pleasure of seeing someone threatening die could very well be turned towards the dog himself instead of the wolf if the circumstances were different.

One has to also remember that during WWII, German soldiers were usually portrayed as "Savage Wolves" in Propaganda Cartoons, while the allies were usually portrayed as either Sheep or Pigs, animals usually portrayed as "Friendly" back then. Of course, anyone who has had to handle _actual_ pigs or wild hogs, would tell you that they are anything _BUT_ "Friendly". They are actually _MUCH_ more dangerous than wolves are, and are even more destructive. A Wolf would only attack if you do not heed their multiple warnings (An unprovoked attack means the wolf was delirious from some kind of sickness), but a Wild Hog would attack without even the slightest provocation or warning. Anyway, more often than not, once you take away the politics, there really wasn't any real difference between the two sides. Both factions had their "Masters" with underground organizations that did horrible things to their own people under the pretense of "Protection". I mean, nobody ever talks about what the US Government did to Japanese-American Farmers and their Farms... Or to Germans who had migrated to America before the war and had no part in _ANY_ of the wartime politics, instead being innocent civilians who just wanted to live their lives. Hek, The Japanese American Farmers actually ended up in _Prison Camps_ simply because the US Government wanted an _excuse_ to seize their land... Only for it to backfire when the People they replaced the Japanese Farmers with, had _NO IDEA_ how to handle the crops and ended up _RUINING_ many of the farms, meaning those farmers who survived the camps had _NOTHING_ to return to after the war and were saddled with debt they could not settle. One Japanese-American Farm only avoided the same fate because an entire farming community stood firm and tended to that farm in the absence of the original owners, allowing that farm to _THRIVE,_ which brought those farmers to tears at how a community stood up for them. (The Government actually tried to bully those helpful people off the farmland, and the local farming community told them where exactly they could stick it). Of course, we don't hear about the US Prison Camps that housed innocent farmers, because the US Won the war, and thus could hide the truth of what they did out of _GREED._

It's so interesting, because the dog would have killed the wolf, if they'd found it lurking among the sheep instead of dead in a snowdrift. But since it died of the cold, the sheep mock it, out of relief that they had to make no sacrifice for its life. What do they care that the wolf has to eat to live, when it's *them* he has to eat? From the sheep's perspective, the dog is preaching to the wrong group. The sheep will never, ever understand, and nobody could possibly expect them to, and yet... The dog feels a kinship with the wolf. he feels how easily it could be him in that snowdrift, he feels the lines separating him from the beasts like the floss of spiderwebs. He would have killed the wolf, yes. But when the wolf dies, and its blood stagnates and grows cold in its veins - none of it spilled - he can only see their similarities. When the sheep mock the dead wolf, they're mocking him. But then again, they're not. The dog was born into different circumstances, leads a different life from the wolf, and makes choices that are kinder to the sheep because he was given those choices to make. Sure, the wolf was never given those choices. But that isn't really the sheep's fault, is it?
@Tenhys17 күн бұрын
_" The dog was born into different circumstances, leads a different life from the wolf, and makes choices that are kinder to the sheep because he was given those choices to make."_ Not quite. You have to remember a very fundamental fact about dogs : they've been created by man domesticating the wolf into serving him. Generations after generation of selected breeding and eugenism contributed to specific behavioral traits to emerge into dogs that contributed to them become "man's best friend." Ergo, dogs aren't free : they're bred slaves. And that dog comes from a "breed" that, by definition, was purposefully engineered to follow orders and go as far as killing to protect the livestocks. The irony of it all is that they're grateful to be protected by an extremly artificially modified wolf breed without realizing it, whereas that dog looked at the wolves seeing his natural past. And the cherry on top is that the sheeps also aren't aware that they themselves are the artificial breed of wild sheep ; created for having their wool shaved from their skin and potentialy reduced to stew to be served as food for humans... and even dogs. What a wonderful world.
@Sarinkame17 күн бұрын
@@Tenhys I guess that's what life is, unfair and cruel but necessary... Living beings grow and adapt to things that let them continue to live even if it means living a life of servitude. Some are well off, some are not. Those who make the right choices get to live, and those who don't do not. What I mean is... Life is 'desperate'...like there's this whole uncaring world around us that wants us rather dead than alive. The starry sky is cold and harsh, the planets and stars brimming with things that could kill us with few able to sustain life not to mention the distance between those celestial objects counts in light years. Life is trying to live in this uncaring world and to do it, it adapts to whatever is good for its survival even if it means it would rather die than be alive. This is depressing :

@@Tenhys _Ergo, dogs aren't free: they're bred slaves._ Ah, well said! There are so many layers to this story. It doesn't matter if they are animals who hunt for food or not - Pain is Pain and the Human mind hates cruelty becuz it doesn't want to see itself as an object something that needs to be consumed by an animal or person. Sure there are messed up things we do for Food but doesn't mean we should relieve ourselves of the guilt we have to do in order to survive. The difference between Animals and us is we feel Guilt and they don't. Best we keep it that way.
@KlausiboyZ17 күн бұрын
@@gamexstreams1731 I don't think I understand what point you're trying to make in regards to his comment. I think his comment was about not blaming and hating the animal for it's nature, recognizing that the wolf isn't malicious or evil. It is just a wolf doing what a wolf does. And yes, if a wolf attacks him or his dear ones, he won't be thinking "Ah, let the wolf do it. It's just how it's supposed to behave". He would very likely be fighting off the wolf, protecting himself and his own, even to the point of disregarding any pain or injury he'd inflict on the wolf. But that doesn't mean he'd be changing his mind about the wolf. He could kill the wolf without hesitation, but still not hate it or blame it and still recognise that the wolf wasn't evil. It was just in opposition to him. You can be enemies but still respect the other's perspective.
