Hi again Richard.Could you widen the bend both sides by digging out and mass filling with old bricks etc,then too it off with around 6 inches or so of quality hardcore.Also, maybe buy a really cheap pick-up truck with towbar, which would be fine for commuting to the local Builders Merchants,or just use it off road to transport your building materials from top of the road to the house?..anyway,you are doing a grand job!
@cnolan38554 ай бұрын
In fact,why not look at maybe include creating a parking area off that hair-pin bend! When you get around to the leveling off the field at the rear of your house? That gives you a turning spot ...or parking for a Glamping site, which could be a nice little retirement income....

I’m a Brit and first-time renovator restoring a house in the Italian Dolomites…and my windows have just arrived, unexpectedly quickly, as yours did; maybe there’s a window-glut (!). Either way, it’s a pain as now I need to pay months ahead of schedule, which has wrecked my financial monthly plans. BTW Great videos; your joy of the house, the work and of Italy are infectious and are an optimistic beacon as I struggle with the work itself and Italian bureaucracy. I watch your videos whilst I have evening wine in the building site wreck of my house. Keep going…you’re helping others keep going.

@@threeacresofmarche we have the jagged granite mountains but you have the sea; we’re all lucky to live in Italy and have the option of either. A comment you made in an early video (‘this is definitely not a ‘how to’ video’) plays in my head as I mess up the most basic stuff when one is so tired; I was once told ‘measure it twice, cut it once’ but I’m more like ‘measure it at least 9 times, get into a strop about why the measurements are different every time and then go for a spritz in a big huff’. Evening spritzes cure all home-renovation-angst, right?!

That has made me smile! I stare at things for ages before I figure out how and where to start also! Good luck to you. We could all do up a house anywhere in the world if it was about renovating. 😁

Morning Ricard and Simon. Let the fun begin! The new doors are such a treat, and it will be lovely to see the difference they make. Biophilic design - bringing the outdoors and natural light in. You'll be right pleased with them and the picture window. The plan was keep it simple and open - just a round table leaves space to access the patio. Pass on the breakfast bar for now, as most likely a quick bite will be eaten outside enjoying the view. Once the patio goes in - you'll see. Al fresco is the way to go. The breakfast bar could always be added later on if there is the space for one and you think it is needed. Just a thought. That concrete cover is a real mystery. It was inset too, maybe it cracked/broke when something heavy drove over it. Was that near the public access to the fields? Always a pleasure to watch the progress. The reno stages - that won't take much to do, never happens. The mess gets way bigger and shuffling stuff around here to there and more. But when the end is near, it's like when the sun comes out after a bad storm - it is worth all the effort it took.
@threeacresofmarche4 ай бұрын
Thanks @LindaSiuzdak . You're right about the layout - I think that I will be outside more often than inside so all those extras can wait until I see how I use the whole space.

@threeacresofmarche4 ай бұрын
HI @waynesmith4869 . I take the car down to save on car hire costs while there. We are not allowed to buy a car in Italy so taking a car down or hiring is the only option. I then park my car at the airport when I pop back for work and the family etc. The ferry is not too bad out of school holidays and is easier than driving down to the tunnel. Book in advance and its ok as you get a good sleep and are fresh to go as you arrive on the continent. In an ideal world I would fly and have a car down there. Lufthansa from Manchester into Ancona is the best - again book in advance and there are great prices.👍

Hi @salinthecity1 . It does take a lot to make that jump into the unknown - I appreciate that. The language barrier is real but not impossible to navigate. Getting the basics will give you the confidence and fun to enjoy the simple things, like cafes and restaurants. Once there the language learning takes a new turn and is challenging but fun and rewarding. Many say there is never a right time so if it feels good then why not just go for it. You can always go back if things don't work out. Good luck to you and I hope you find your dream soon.😊

Wake up mate. No one accidentally drove over your water main, if they had the lid would still be there. If that was the case though, what were they doing on your land? My theory, for what it's worth, someone came in stole your lid and filled up one (or more) of those giant water containers, situated on the back of their pick.up. Padlock your water supply. P s. I'm enjoying your series...😊

Hi @tip0019 . I need to keep them up and in place because as soon as they are pulled down someone 'could' say that they are gone from the plans and map and that would be that. I plan to make them back into covered areas as soon as I can so that I keep the footprint etc for the future.👍

Hi @Harjawalda I cannot pull them down because the posts are important to keep in place to show that there is / was a barn there. One they go somebody could say that they are gone forever. The posts have to stay to save me having hassle on all that down the road. Also, not many want to touch aspestos.
