Well Richard, I think you did an amazing job so far. I guess the damp weather/rain will keep the cloth more to the ground and it shouldn't be too bad in spring. Finger crossed? Happy new year mate ♥

From experience and losing many plants, try not to plant too deep - keep the trees just a bit up out of the ground. Build a small mote around the base about 1/2 meter out. Don't forget the mulch inside the mote around the trees. Happy planting and love your dream come true!

Amazing - You are moving right along and by yourself, which is very impressive! FYI, we order our pins on Amazon in a box of 560 which are thicker and longer pins...much cheaper than the local store. We lay the ground fabric down on an other section of our property each year until we can afford ground cover. It takes approximately 1 pin every meter to keep the wind from carrying it away - we live in a very windy area. If weeds start growing under the fabric, we spray the fabric with vinegar, salt & water mixture in a large garden sprayer which kills the weeds naturally. Love your channel...keep it up!

The tree you said doubled in size is a black poplar, the small one should be a willow.

PS--sounds like your old olive trees are infected/diseased via your wise old neighbor. You may want to call your garden center to find out about treating them as whatever it is will likely infect your new trees. Happy gardens 🤪

So great to see your progress! And your comfort level in front of the camera as well. Love your little house & best wishes for 2025. ❤ PS-if available 12" staples are best for windy areas, don't pop out as easily. 😊

That's a shame about your olive tree 😢 I hope all your hard work covering the banks will stay in place. All your hard work clearing the drive, etc is made a big difference. Happy New Year to you & your family 🎉🍾🥂

Fanatic last video of the year. As we're finding, you just start making progress and then you need to leave. The joys of living in two different countries, eh!! We're back in the UK until March now as we need to gain some of our 180 days back. Will you be able to get out there over the winter at all? We have our fingers crossed that the landscaping fabric will stay put 🤞🤞🤞

Its funny Richard, I suddenly discovered I have a vested interest in your 3 acres. When I saw the weed mat going down I was relieved?? Geez its not my 3 acres but hey, job well done 🤨 Weird isn't it. lol, anyway have a happy new year and all the very best for 25. From New Zealand.

Always best to spray wasps bee's hornets after Sunset in the dark. Careful to not shine flash lights on or around their NESTING area's. Buying spray that sprays 25 to 40 feet wear Googles& face mask and your head covered. Standing back spray up & foreword..Never strap up above your head it will drift down on you not good. Spray kills immediately and those NESTING . Ground NESTING Bee's much harder to get rid of. Their colonies can be huge under ground and cause sink holes. They like NESTING under deck and soft wood to constantly bore perfect round holes for their eggs. Keep treating their area's throughout winter months while they are hibernating. Unplowed fields full of field mice ground bee's rodents of All sorts get several cat's and they will take care of rodents. Also snakes love to eat spiders and ground bee's. Where ever they are snakes will frequent.

he says the tree is a little sick, the wind did it, it needs pruning, he says his tractor is broken but it would be a good time to work the soil, That small tree he says should be taken down, with an excavator.

I have been enjoying your videos, as a fellow Mancunian looking for a home in Italy, it has been easy to relate. I have also taken on board some of your early advice and have started looking for a geometra as opposed to relying on agents and web searches. Sadly I don't possess your enthusiasm for driving so our search revolves more around areas with flights from Manchester. I look forward to your adventures continuing next year.

You need to spray your olives with copper its called rame in italian. Prune the olives then spray them. In spring time spray them just before they flower.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us! I’ve watched your videos and have become so curious to see what’s next-I can’t wait to see the finished project one day! Watching your work has definitely taught me what I could and couldn’t manage on my own, just that is priceless. I know there’s so much to do while you’re there, but I’ve also really enjoyed the bike trips and visits to town you’ve shared. Wishing you all the very best in the new year!

You have done A Wonderful job. It looks great, Dear Sir, try to remember that Noah didn't build The Arch in a day, and he had to collect all the animals to travel with him to start the whole world over again. The rain will weigh down the plastic, and if it snows that will help also. Your new home will be a true blessing to you and your family. I envy you, wish I could be doing the same as you are with your life. And your right it may be a wild boar roaming on your land.

Just remember that what ever happens while you are not there, the whole property is in much better state than when you bought it! Also your neighbour is commenting as a farmer not a leisure owner so may have different priorities. Looking forward to 2025 🎉
