BIG John has a very good voice an a calm way about him. UFC would be wise to take John on board more often. .

Love how he’s trying to make it seem like UFC needs him. They don’t. He’s got a chip on his shoulder because he left himself in the dust with his bad attitude.

Marc Ratner does a fine job when they allow him to speak on the broadcasts. They should just utilize him more

Royce wouldn’t make it past 3 fights if he had to fight modern UFC fighters at any weight class.

Thank you for your service bug john but we definitely do not want you back. Awful commentary and he barely understands the rules as they are today. He consistently has the worst takes of mma "media" online

No thank you big John. Thank you for your service early on but having heard you on Bellator, no. Just awful commentary and no better rule analyst.

hes so awful at what he does.. on the other hand, maybe pfl will be better without him too..

Out of all that was bad with bellator, listening to him and Thomson was top 3 for me

@@idriskobe7028 you must be a 70 year old boomer, bc Mccarthy is horrendous,, doesnt even know most modern rules, talks over literal finishes and exciting events,, and misses fight endings all the time bc hes too dumb to shut up and watch the fight. I cant even count the amount of times he was just wrong about many subjects. Hes old , washed up , and doesnt understand modern mma. Also doesn understand commentating and just sucks at it. Josh Thompson is good but not like an all time great.

Watch the interview 🙈 he explains he has 1 or 2 fights of PFL /Bellator Choice to do he isn’t sure on the future of the Org due to lack of fights and events .. but he can go work for other orgs like UFC ,BKFC or whoever he wants -

@@CrushDontRush I wonder if he regrets being so habitually negative and critical of the UFC in his podcast over the years. One never knows when you may need the organisation that you've been repetitively criticising. It didn't stop him from pitching himself as the UFC technical analyst, go Big John, shoot your shot 😂
@CrushDontRush16 сағат бұрын
@@jonoharper4729 yeah Dana isn’t big fan of John but he does have more knowledge then all The ufc commentators as far as Rules / true history of MMA .. but he def didn’t do himself favors criticizing UFC but he was around before Dana in UFC he wrote the rule book and had to deal with No Holds Barred Days. So John def is huge part of the History but like Randy Couture Dana kinda erases the History in casual fans eyes they don’t understand John’s contributions etc. but we shall see what Gigs he gets offered 🤔 I’m guessing he will have better shot being part of new GFL 🫣 should be interesting 💯 good point

@@CrushDontRushnice but I can go to the UFC too. So can you lol
@George-f7x1d13 сағат бұрын
@@CrushDontRushthis is so wrong! How does he have more knowledge than the current commentators on fighting? I’ll give him that he has knowledge on the ruleset from when he was reffing, how has he demonstrated his knowledge on the current ruleset. I have listened to MMA junkie for a longtime, and they aren’t the only ones to say this, but I would like an another person to verify and explain how John McCarthy helped set the rules of MMA. And I don’t want to hear about 12-6 elbows. And lastly mentioning Randy “the Natural” Couture in the same sentence with John McCarthy should only be done when mentioning they both worked for PFL in some capacity. Couture has given much more physical than McCarthy to MMA. 6 time UFC Champion, two division UFC champion. He is the creator of team couture who has produced several top MMA fighters. You can thank Dana white for even remembering John McCarthy.

No they don’t need rules analysts for broadcasts. How often do the rules even come up? There’s 2 world champions at the desk, I’m sure there’s not often a situation where people don’t figure out what’s going on. Ridiculous lol big John has become so self absorbed with the rules. They obviously don’t matter. You can break every rule in the book, nothing will ever happen. In fact, the guy who breaks the rules most is considered the goat. Rules lol

John knows the way of the future. Is fighters without coaching in the corner. More natural acting fighters. More mistakes. More honesty to the sport. Coaches are rarely former fighters. They put too many emotions into the fighters head. Your down 2 rounds. You need to knock him out. WAIT! A fight finish is the meaning behind the sport of mma. Let them be Gladiators. A fighter who’s working off of their instincts. Will feel less defeated. Than with a coach in the corner, screaming low kick. Now that fighter is forced to focus on his opponent; while ignoring the selfish coach. (KRON’s distractions in the cage). Disappointment set in. Fans lose a brawl. If a coach dictates a fighters final round of exertion.

Fighters always perform better with a corner.
@sjshines7111 сағат бұрын
@ guess you never jogged 10miles daily for a fight camp. Stop. Performing better, can be caused by weightcut issues. We are talking about crowd pleasing. And the natural instincts every human possess. The real Champion is one who can conquer alone. Even Volk said he wish he never listened to his corner in a Title fight. Lets continue with jump the gilly. With Dustin. He thought about his coaches saying no. Then it was too late. And the position was reversed on him. Simple intelligence is what makes competition fun. Not game planning any stall tactics between rounds.

@@sjshines71 what’s the record of fighters with no corner?
@sjshines717 сағат бұрын
@ Streetbeefs wildness with trained athletes. No pressure to be perfect. Coaches remain private. Fighting is 90% mental. 10% physical. Supposedly! Not my phrase. Only the crowd coaches you. Gladiators won some and lost some.
