Well I think this was just a unintentional nerf from the stat squish but I agree there’s been so many nerfs to leveling In 7.3.5 it’s awful!

Leveling from 60-80 is terrible. I used to not mind leveling alts, but when I hit WotLK content, I discovered that it made me to just want to "put the game down" and not even try. Holy moly, every freaking quest in Northrend consists of this: "Go to [Area A], kill [# of (MOB)], turn in quest. After turning in quests (usually two at a time) quest giver gives 2 more quests to go BACK to the SAME [Area A] and do the following: 1) Kill different mobs that you already had to kill to get to mobs in first quest, or 2) Activate item in area where you already have to kill more of the same mobs that you JUST killed." This was literally how just about every area I went to progressed. And, there are like 20 quests, but they're handed out 2 at a time. Also, XP rewards are garbage compared to other areas of the game (even vanilla leveling which is in a decent state...golden state when compared to Wrath content). Item rewards are pretty much garbage as well, sometimes having rare items with a higher gear score having trash stats compared to uncommon gear that is lower gear score. It's really in a bad state. So, when I heard about this "Kara trash leveling" while reading online (because I ONCE AGAIN took a break long enough to go search/read online about how much of a slog that WotLK leveling 60-80 is) I immediately untracked on my current quests in the objective watcher, hearthstoned back to Orgrimmar, grabbed level 70 Expert Flying while I was there, took the portal to the Hellfire Peninsula, flew back through the Dark Portal, and headed to the Kara entrance. I then parked on the roof above the entrance to Kara and alt tabbed to just check and see how I should farm this wondrous leveling option ONLY to discover (via this video) that this sweet alternative to Blizzard's horrendous leveling mistake that is Northrend was NERFED INTO THE DIRT. I put my waders back on and headed to the slug-pit that is Northrend, shedding goblin tears on my Grove Warden's head as we flew back to the Dark Portal... Thank you for the update on this. It's terrible news, but appreciate learning about it before heading inside to have my repair bill increased...

You can't even solo certain bosses from wrath while being lvl 110 now, so this will probably get fixed

They said in the Q&A that old dungeon/content scaling in the stat squish is not where it should be yet. They explained their main focus had been lvl 110-120 and they were just then looking at the balance in older stuff. Whether or not this remains time efficient remains to be seen, but its not going to go live (or at least stay that way for long on live) exactly like that.

Maybe if blizz would just update the fucking 1-60 quests we wouldn't be trying to fucking find other ways of leveling! 60-80 is such a fucking drag. How do they expect people to level the new races if they nerfed quests exp to the fucking ground!

Jburtonsemo I would hope so. I only have 4 lv 110. So there's a lot of lvling in my future. This make it that much easier... they should know by now we need little gimmicks like this.

I posted this on your old 1-110 vid, but I'll post it here too. While leveling to 110, I found that a ton, but not all, chest where giving me about 22820 exp in Valshara. I was able to lvl from 109 to 110 with the chest alone. Edit: I had full hairlooms, rested exp and a invasion was happening in the area.

Jburtonsemo ya no problem. I have no idea why some of the chest gave exp and some didn't. I was checking out the rewards to see if that mattered and it looked like the ones that gave exp had lower artifact knowledge while the ones that didn't give exp had higher artifact.

Did some more testing. On my lvl102 rogue, i opened chest in stormhiem, azsuna, valsharah and highmountain. The same chest that gave me exp on my war, gave me exp on my rogue at a rate of 21420 per chest. Opening chest in azsuna and stormhiem didnt seem to give any exp, but i could have missed the ones that did. Some chest in highmountain gave exp but it was much rarer. From what i can tell, the exp is not random, some chest will always give exp while other wont.

I tried this out, not during a invasion, i only got xp from 1/6 chests i tried in val'sharah, the one i got xp from was the "ungaurded chest"

Not so much. I’ve heard of people getting good exp soloing trashing in bastion of twilight to go from 87-91 but haven’t got to test it much. If you have access to 2 accounts, u can carry ur alt through stratholme from 37-60. All 7 bonus objective bosses give a large amount of exp and ur alt just has to stand at the entrance. Also carrying the alt through hellfire ramparts from 60-73 is decent (mostly for the dungeon completion exp bonus) since it’s a very short dungeon. And then same for lost city of tolvir, run t from 83-90.

Leronos they got rid of the exp bonus at the end of a dungeon. you get it now like once a week or so if im not mistaken. dungeon boosts through friends isnt a thing that works anymore, sadly.

Most likely not since xp is greatly reduced when a high level character is in the instance but then again may still be better xp then questing. Worth testing!

Christopher DeLeon lol it still doesn’t take very long to level not even close to classic which was like 4 times longer still. I know leveling was a big part of the game then but still leveling is easy even now and pretty quick. I’ve leveled 2 toons since the scaling without using this method.

My issue is that leveling in classic wow was fun because it was challenging. For heirlooms ruin leveling. Not being able to replace gear for upgrades is less fun but then I feel bad when I don’t use them cuz I’m leveling slower lol. Also the classic wow talent tree made each level up fee rewarding whereas now u only get rewarded every 15 levels. Also professions actually had a big impact on leveling in classic whereas now there’s no incentive. I’m just not a fan of how leveling had evolved in WoW :(

It’s effectively cut in half. In terms of it being worth it I’m not entirely sure compared to questing or getting carried in ramparts.

Not at all. Leveling in current WoW is very boring which is why I like the karazhan solo method for fast leveling. In classic wow it was actually challenging, pull 2 mobs? U would prolly die. And heirlooms weren’t around (heirlooms made the game too easy and also having half of ur gear not replaceable is very boring, that’s one of the biggest aspects of rpg games, progressing through the game while getting upgrades) but it also feels awful not using heirlooms cuz ur leveling up slower than someone who is using them. Professions in classic wow were also relevant. It was fun leveling leatherworkng to craft they green BoE piece of gear because it was a great upgrade. Also the feeling of getting a new upgrade for weapons was amazing. Professions in current WoW have no purpose while leveling. Also the talent tree in classic wow rewarded u every single level which helped with the idea character progression which once again is an important aspect in rpgs. Now u get a talent point every 15 levels. All I’m saying is leveling has become a very boring process. It’s too easy but also time consuming. A challenge is what makes games fun. Just my opinion.

They said that the scalling is not yet finished, so they will nerf the dungeons and raids more / buff our dps in legacy raids. But if they nerf the XP, that's final.

the exp turnout is a little but short of 1/6th of the previous exp turnout... i also havent recieved any dungeon completion bonus exp either. it doesnt help at the fact i cannot complete most dungeons due to the fact theyre bugged... >.< july 8th i made the mistake of grabbing another ah token. im at my wits end with this game.

I'm a bit late in seeing this as I stopped playing a few months ago to wait for the pre patch, but yet again another disappointing news from Blizzard. Kara was my beacon of hope in this new time consuming, boring world...and it got shat upon by Blizz. My only solace is that they only ever get money from me from buying expansions, as I only pay with AH tokens.

Went in at 73 just today on my lock didn’t work. So I’m assuming after u get high enough level where they r green level then it works. Downside is lvl 77-81 is only 4 levels worth compared to the old 73-81 :(

Kevin Yeah I’d rather level in northrend than use this boring method, but if people like to use it they should be able too. Killing trash has always been super boring for me I’d rather quest even if it is longer.
