It's from my favourite german autor :D he has the most crazy ideas and his stories are just full of wit and creepy creatures! This one is part of a trilogy, which is also part of a much bigger universe created by Moers. If you want to read a book that will surprise over and over again, this is one of the best I can recommend :D

Back when it first came out, I bought a signed hardback copy of 'The Rest of Us Just Live Here' by Patrick Ness and its lovely. The pages are yellow, the signature is wonderful, I was very excited. However, I really don't like hardback books for many reasons, but I wanted a signed copy so bad I bit the bullet and just bought it. Then I went to a bookshop last week with my friend and they had a full display of signed paperback copies of 'The Rest of Us Just Live Here' by Patrick Ness. My friend knew I already had a signed copy, but she pulled a Tom Haverford on me, and just said "Treat yo self!" so I bought it. So now I have two separate signed copies of 'The Rest of Us Just Live Here' by Patrick Ness for no reason, and I want to regret my decision, but I simply don't. And that is my May Bookhaul.

Hi!! :) I am interested in reading the book! but I see that it's the 4th book in the Zamonia Series and I was reading the synopsis and they don't seem connected, do I need to read the three books beforehand or can I read The City of Dreaming Books as a stand alone ? Thanks!!

You can read the City of Dreaming Books as a Standalone. The Zamonia novels are not related too each other, they all just take place at the same fictional continent.

WALTER MOERS - YES PLEASE!! He is brilliant, his books are like fairytales for grown-ups, whimsical and witty with very peculiar characters. 'The city of dreaming books' is the first of a trilogy, I hope they are all translated yet. READ THEM ALL!! Also: the book is full of anagrams of real life authors and artists names, which you can guess while reading - it really is a book for booklovers

I'm reading The City of Dreaming Books right now (what a coincidence!), and it's probably one of the best books I've ever read. It mashes middle grade appeal with adult elements and it's a snarky, well-thought, provoking analysis and satire of the book publishing system. Please, do read it soon - it's unlike any book I've ever read and I'm loving every single page. Also, I really really loved The Goldfinch back when it came out! Hope you'll like it.

Funnily we have two books in common on our may-list, which are The Trials Of Apollo and The City Of Dreaming Books, though the later I am listening to on audible ;) Short note on Walter Moers, I love his books, he is an amazing writer and if you like City Of Dreaming Books I recommend Rumo And His Miraculous Adventures, this is so far my favorite book by Moers, it has everything, from funny moments to romance to heroic acts, it's just amazing. Furthermore, I read a short story by my favorite writer Shelly Laurenston, A Tale Of Two Dragons, which tells the story of a dragon-couple finding each other; I really recommend her books in general, Dragon Actually is the first in her dragon-series, all of her books are hilarious and the story is amazing and absorbing. I also started Fantasy In Death by J.D.Robb, who is Nora Roberts, and so far I am loving it very much, it has mystery and I am very impressed how interesting her books are, even after having written so many over the years.

I went bananas with buying books this month....thankfully it didn't get too expensive on account of the Mother's Day sale on bookoutlet.com but there alone I got 16 books. Oops...Anyway, so far of those, I have read one (I mean I've read other things this month but they were things I already had) and I freaking loved it! It was one of the "blogger friends" recommendations. Yes, I did pick up some of yours, but this was one of Maureen's. Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library!! I finished it yesterday and I almost wish I didn't because it was so much fun! It's middle grade and basically described as escape from a library designed by Willy Wonka. !!! I want to go to that library! Absolutely suggest you read it and it's still dirt cheap on bookoutlet.

I just put City of Dreaming Books on my list. I'm a sucker for illustrations. Anyway, I'm reading The Falcon Throne by Karen Miller; it's the first one in the new Tarnished Crown series. I had never heard of this author before, but I like it so far. It reminds me of George RR Martin as far as general events go: there's a guy pretending to serve his cousin the duke but secretly plotting to overthrow him, a sorcerer prince who wants revenge on his father the king who abandoned him after deciding the prince wasn't really his son, and other stuff like that. But it's not as descriptive as the SOIAF series, which I really appreciate. Setting and atmosphere are great and totally necessary of course, but it doesn't slow down the plot in favor of descriptions and explaining characters' inner thoughts.

But I'm super excited (but also nervous) about Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh -- nervous because I recently found out that it's only a duology soo yeah. (But it's signed, so YAY!) But another I'm intrigued by is Neverhome by Laird Hunt, it's about a woman who disguises herself as a man to fight in the Civil War, it has an average goodreads rating, but it sounds super interesting.
