Why is that all readers first thought when they see a big book is that they could commit murder with it ?😂

I absolutely love the Finishing School series! It blends a lot of my favorite elements together: steampunk, espionage, and high tea. What I love the most about it is that it reads kind of like a Series of Unfortunate Events. It has all of those elements but it's pretty campy and fun.

Juliet Marillier is a fabulous author, and honestly if you are a fan of Brandon Sanderson's high fantasy novels, I feel like you will like her adult high fantasy novels. The Sevenwaters series (daughter of the forest) is so great! Very satisfyingly addicting for a high fantasy series! I've read every single book she has written and I think the adult fantasy books are much better than the YA series. If you are worried about her Sevenwaters series you should try one of her other adult series first, like the Blackthorn and Grim series or the Bridei chronicles. Her writing does not disappoint!

The Book of Lost Things!!!! Heads up, this is not really a middle grade book. It's more of an adult book with great cross over appeal for YA readers. I loved it and really fell into the world. I hope you enjoy it and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it! If you enjoy Americanah, you should check out We Should All Be Feminist by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. They have a bind up available that is about 45 pages or you can KZbin her Ted Talk. I highly recommend this if you enjoy her other writing.

I got both passenger and truthwitch because I went to a signing for both authors near me. Both books were great, but for different reasons. Also, I heard that because the magic system was so vast, it could be hard to follow. I made myself a little guide while reading it to keep track of the types of witches, myths, and thread colors. Writing the guide was very useful and I highly recommend that people try doing the same while they read it. It will also really help when the sequel comes out.

The book of lost things isn't a middle grade. John said that yeah, a younger person could read it but they wouldn't understand it the way an adult would. He deemed it an adult fantasy but says that any reader can get something from it. Great book though, enjoy!

I love the Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger and I am loving the Finishing school series. You should read Parasol Protectorate if you like her writing, it is more of an young adult tale. Gail Carriger is creating another spin off of Parasol and you should definitely read Parasol before reading that new series.

If you can manage to make it through the first couple of chapters of The Library at Mount Char, which are most likely to repulse you, the book is well worth the time. Probably my favorite speculative novel of last year. It isn't like anything else out there. I can also recommend the John Connolly novel, although I seem to remember it as adult, not middle grade. I've read the first two novels of the Inheritance Trilogy, but recently sold them back to Half Priced Books. I still own the third and intend to read it, but it isn't a keeper series for me. I just recently bought The City of Stairs and hope to read it soon. The sequel is already out, naturally....
