I'm in the middle of reverse dieting and the other day I found myself frustrated with my weight. Then I realized that the last time I was this weight, I was 2 pants sizes bigger than I am now. I had to stop for a moment and appreciate all the muscle I've gained. 💪

When I turned 35 I did my first cut. I had been lifting since high school but buried my head in the sand around diet - I just didn't want to accept its importance and wanted to eat as much of whatever I wanted. I wasn't "fat" (maybe 20-22% bf as a male at my heaviest) but I realized I was in my mid 30s, well-muscled, strong, but had never in my life seen my abs (even in high school). It took losing about 20lbs of fat to get to my goal. But after that main cutting phase I stopped weighing myself altogether. I could only venture a guess as to my current weight. Once you're lean, just use the mirror.

Mind Pump is the best! Next week I am officially finishing my basketball career at 19 years old. It’s bittersweet because I love basketball but playing competitively never let me go too crazy in the weight room. Well that will change next week haha! Mind pump has already taught me so much I’ve been listening for about a year now. I am definitely going to start with Anabolic and I saw they are giving it away to a commenter so i thought i would shoot my shot! Thanks Mike Pump for all you do you guys are awesome

I'm a big fan of the smaller more frequent meals. It helps me keep the portions reasonable and everything on target, I'm not hungry and irritable. It took me a while to figure that out. Half the battle is finding out what works for you. I'm down 60lbs since May and have been gaining some muscle. I've been mostly winging it at home with some adjustable dumbbells. It started out with me forcing myself, and now I look forward to each session. You guys have been a great help. Thanks for all the info.

I resonate a ton with the last caller. I’m running MAPS anabolic on a bulk now. Sometimes I don’t know if I’m really making progress or not. Or if I should be increasing my calories more? To really see the strength gains. So you all really hit the nail on the head. A lot of times this process is overcoming psychological hurdles. I needed to hear that today!

I had my teenage kids track their macros and we weighed them at the beginning. I told them to eat a gram of protein per pound of body weight and after a week my 19 year old son lost 5 lbs. without any working out and my 16 year old daughter lost 4 lbs. without working out. My daughter was starving herself before this and now her mood is overall better. My son had been binging on carbs beforehand and now his moods are improving as well. I told them, the next step is to add in physical fitness. I’ll keep ya posted.

Haven't been able to save up to get a program yet, but actively working on it. Implementing full body workouts focused on bigger compound lifts has been super helpful, especially knowing my spare time will be a scarcity coming in the next few months during tax season, so knowing that even if I get two smaller 30-45 minute workouts in a week I'm still hitting a lot of the muscle groups to sustain and get through the busy season. Always enjoy the content, and look forward to your growth.

The sodium thing is so real. I have been doing an aggressive cut and started feeling really crappy in the gym. Added LMNT to my gallon jug, start drinking it in the morning and through my workout, and poof I feel great again. LMNT is a great company too because they give you the recipe so you can make it yourself and save some cash. So now I save my LMNT for on-the-go or travel situations and make my own for daily routine stuff.

I prefer to have 5 small meals a day to help get enough protein, but it also definitely helps me starve off cravings and keeps my energy stable by keeping my blood sugar regulated throughout the day
@Hazyhyperion4130

I know I'll get dinged for this, but I find that spreading smaller meals throughout the day is better for fat loss for me. It specifically helps me with hunger cravings, and I feel much more energetic throughout my workout and the day. The concept is the same. Try cramming 2000 or 3000 calories into three meals. They both suck for 700 or 1000 calories in one meal. So I dont understand why can't people apply this to cutting as well.

Lose weight is biggest helper. look up dead hangs , active hangs, and scapula pull ups, look up pike pull ups. body weight rows/australian pull ups, lots and lots of lat pull downs using all different grips. static isometric holds at the top position of the bar. You can do this with lat pull down machine too by putting on a heavy weight and holding the bar down to your sternum or as low as you can go. try to get to a lat pull down with a weight close to your body weight. Dealifts healped improve my grip. my first pull up was not even a pull up but with a neutral grip. I started banging out neutral and chin up grips before I ever got a regular pull up. Got my first pull up around 240 pounds and im very handicap because of a stroke. If I can do it no reason you cant. took a lot of time and training a vertical pulling movement 3x a week. Good luck

I haven’t listened to the whole episode here yet but anything breaking down MAPS anabolic might be a fit, because you can do it with either 2 or 3 foundational workouts per week. It was a good fit for me, i wasn’t a novice to working out but stuck to dumbbells until a year or two ago, so I’ve really had to get used to form in the big lifts with a barbell. Anabolic was pretty perfect for that
