You have to make sure you dont leave too much mud behind the tape. When you run your knife across it try to get as much out and leave jt as flat as possible. You can take your time floating after that. Once it dries you can get close to the wall ans look alinb the tape and check if you can see the bump. Run your hand across it and see if you can feel it. Make it as wide as you need it to make the bump less noticable. Dont forget to sand it smooth with a sanding sponge

I’d get somebody in there to do the last wall, it’s cheap and will look better. As far as them ghosting you contractors usually only do that when the customer is breathing done they’re neck/asking for too much.

it's tough because these contractors have other contractors that give them lots of work that they need to make sure they cater to. so a one off job for a girl that's never gonna hire them again is not top priority. Sorry.
