My guess is that the "big bathroom" company takes the money and farms out the jobs to any contractor that will accept their price. the main company may have half a dozen employees, but thousands of piece workers that may or may not have any skill. If your name is on the line, you MUST at least inspect the work and weed out the bad contractors. It's called due diligence.
