I so love how the cohesive waterfront looks now, especially the colours! Only constructive critisim: maybe some non functional (sand) paths on that orivate park along the buildings and to the laying-seating-bench-thingies and parasols just to give it that entire flat surface a bit of texture Cant wait to see the walkways filled, you've been hyping it up so much and that i can see the larger shapes. The green was a really good idea

This episode was a brilliant filler between those 2 completed riverside/waterfront blocks. The new buildings look amazing, and it goes great along the shoreline and stuff. The lighting is also really great, although it continues the kinda dark against the waterfront/riverside on this side of the first bridge.

So we need some mod which disallows bicycles on paths over a certain inclination (i.e. stairs). Maybe the riders could carry their bike op and down (or use alternative paths instead). (Same for strollers and wheelchair users, though those should always use the elevators. Or have nearby other people help them.) Not sure whether this is actually possible, but would be nice.

Do Procedural Objects use the same computer system resources as the regular assets? Is there any performance drop from using thousands of them like Akruas uses? Lol. He's so good at using that mod. I know POs don't use LODs so that can affect performance I guess.
@Akruas Жыл бұрын
yes lack of LOD is a big deal, lots of POs also increase loading times, lots of POs in one place does drop some FPS even up close, but it's hard to generalize, I haven't done any proper testing for that
@vadicus-tcp Жыл бұрын
@@Akruas Thanks Akruas. Amazing work also. I'm guessing a high end CPU for the simulation of the game but a good GPU for the rendering of the POs is a benefit. Cinematics always look amazing though. You are the number one Skylines builder. You inspire my cities as well. Be safe.
@Akruas Жыл бұрын
@@vadicus-tcp The game itself is the bottleneck. In my experience switching from 960 to 1060 GPU didn't do anything in 1080p, but it helped with maintaining the FPS for increased resolution. We can see that with other builders who use high end 30 series, that the FPS is still terrible, but they can at least maintain it for much higher resolutions and "dynamic resolution" upscales. The hard truth is that FPS is dictated by the number of objects and their complexity, with minimal impact from hardware. So always pay attention to those tris counts and especially texture sizes of objects. Don't place thousands of small details with 4k textures etc. I've read that apparently the engine also suffers from placing large amount of individual objects, as opposed to a single object with otherwise similar complexity. Better CPU helps with simulation speed, yes, but also only to a certain point.
@vadicus-tcp Жыл бұрын
@@Akruas Right you are. Sadly the engine is dated and not optimized very well. That being said, I'm sure we your fans are all excited to see what you come up with in Skylines 2!! Haha, being hopeful of course but I'm sure Skylines 2 will come eventually.

I really like the build but i feel like the uniform green walkways everywhere kinda ruin the look. Its too smooth and as walkways they wouldnt keep their green color for very long. also every construction company using the same flooring for walkways in their projects is pretty unlikely. the architecture of the buildings is very different as well so putting the same ground everywhere takes away from the uniqueness of a building

I like to imagine it as some kind of rubberized material that is better for walking on than ordinary concrete (like those spongy mats sometimes found around playgrounds or pools), and because of that, it would be relatively easy for it to maintain its color, since the color would be a dye on the material itself as opposed to a paint applied after it was built.
