BIG RETAINING WALL PART 1

THIS IS SOME OLD FOOTAGE OF US BUILDING THE FIRST PART OF A MASSIVE RETAINING WALL. WE USED 100 MM 7 NEWTON BLOCKS FLAT AND UPRIGHT. THE WALL WAS 550 MM WIDE AT THE BOTTOM. AS WE GOT HIGHER MORE ENGINEERING BRICKS WERE USED AS THE WIDTH REDUCED.
IT WAS VERY AWKWARD TO BUILD DUE TO THE FOUNDATIONS ON EACH SIDE BEING SO CLOSE AND NOT SLABBED....ENJOY

Love the block on flat,good earner! You still get paid the same rate for that guys? Site I was on years ago had 4” blocks on flat for internal walls. Thought we were millionaires until they told us it was a lesser rate than two 4” walls 🤷‍♂️ gutted😂

Bricklaying With Steve and Alex if I’m building a house or extension found I build it solid up to fgl which is usually 4 course on flat. Better than faffing with cavities in a trench plus it’s easy 💶💶 Enjoying your vids 👍

Nothing against the work lads, but who in the hell designed that abortion...that’s not so much a retaining wall, as a dam...it would have been better, faster and cheaper to have constructed in concrete. With a nice toe and reinforcing up into the wall base, them a concrete wall up to at least the height you reached at the end of this video...then a nice brick facing to hide the nasty concrete... A real labour of love in that ‘sodden ditch’...don’t know where they find the so called ‘engineers’ these days...
