You don't know that. The song applies to myriad situations. That's the point of what he was saying. Yes, it was dedicated/inspired by a specific person and her claim of victimhood of a specific crime. But the song applies to any situation where there's intense feelings of remorse/regret/grief and a struggle to transition to something better.

When I was 13 a 35 year old man took my innocence, I have long since gotten over that. The fact that my family didn't believe me, beat me and locked me in a basement after I told them, only until another girl came forward stating he'd touched her, then they swept it under the rug it became something we "No longer talked about" that took a lot longer to get over. I even tried to take my own life, "She's not crying anymore" by Billy Ray Cyrus saved me from taking the ultimate act...

Sharlene was raped it has nothing to do with having premarital sex. I was raped and it never leaves your mind i have P.S.T.D. because i was pregnant when my unborn daughter was killed in the 7 hour attack. You missed the entire meaning of the song.
