Big Salmon on the Shoreline - Shore Fishing

First cast with the new fishing reel on a nice 8.5' medium action rod. I'm running 20lb fluorocarbon with a Stingeye Spinner and we're fishing the shoreline of the Niagara Whirlpool looking for those big fall salmon.

I got a 33" king from shore on my 5' trout rod with 4lb test this year while rainbow fising...in the river, in the current lol Oh, and landed it by hand! Maybe I'll go out later today, supposed to be nice weather.

Great video as always! I bought 5 sting eyes a couple weeks ago, tried them out and loved them so I bought 5 more in different colours last night, even got one for a friend. I’ll hopefully be at Niagara this weekend, maybe I’ll see you there once! Tight lines!

How do you work the spoon or spinner in Whirlpool? Do you best to reel it in just above the bottom?

yes - correct....let it sink close to the bottom and then reel it in, staying as close to bottom as possible :)

I fish the other side of that river frequently, and have always struggled to get my spinner down into the strike zone. Just ordered 5 of these stinger eye spinners. Hoping they bring some steelhead strikes!

try using more torpedo shaped spinners if you're trying to go deeper. stay away from bell bodied if you want to go deeper.
