Hey John, I started trying out the Gulp minnow grubs and shrimp this season. Fished LIS my whole life from shore and boat, never used Gulp until this season. From the beach I was throwing the New Penny 3" shrimp and the pink minnow grubs on a 1/2 ounce jighead and caught fluke, sea robin and even some stripers almost every catch. Great videos man thank you so much!

Hi John, Great video like normal. I got out on my boat for the first time Friday and had 14 Keeper Sea Bass. I was saying to my fishing partner I have to use the underwater camera that you use and I bought because of you! Thanks for all your good advice.

great video as always those fish hung around there last year into the beginning of July water temps are behind this year so that bodes well the party boat will start pounding them on opening day so a lot of the easy fish will go quick

This looks so effortless for you... we went fishing yesterday on a boat out of belmar beach NJ on the miss belmar princess, we had clams for bait, I also tried gulp swimming mullet but that did nothing for me sadly.. I did catch 2 small sea bass keepers..it was so difficult to keep the clams on the hook, they seemed to slurp it right of the hook .. your tail bait seems to work so well ... this was a fun video thanks

I really enjoy your fishing videos. Wish I could catch flounder like you. I live down here on the Delmarva Peninsula but haven't had the success with the flounder in a long time. when we do catch them, they are less than the 16 inch size limit. Maybe I need to try using a John Skinner bucktail. Tight Lines John.

I noticed u fish with a buck tail and a teaser, you also net most of the fish similar to me. When ever I use this rig and catch a nice flounder , I go to net it and the hook with no fish usually gets snagged in the net do you have any tips to avoid the snags in the net. (I always fish with the barbs pinched.

I lol'd when i heard that - think that's the first time i heard Mr. Skinner cuss and I like it! I fish the Gulf and wish folks down this way fished flounder more with this technique (rapid, vertical jig). I think it helps to avoid gut hooking flounder smallies.
@brooklynoutdoorsman99697 жыл бұрын
tee cee it's the first time I herd him curse to lol but up here 2 sea bass that size on at one time just before the open season is like you have every number but 1 or 2 in the lottery winnings to good to be true and it's good Mr Skinner got it on video because that would have been a fishing story and as far as vertical jigging rapid your rite I have the same experience with not gut hooking them with this technique and flounder (fluke) and stripers up here are our snook and redfish of the southern area and also will say Mr Skinner awesome fisherman if there's water he can catch fish from it...
@JohnSkinnerFishing7 жыл бұрын
So you get them down there jigging - yes?? I've had them casting Gulps in SW Florida.
@teecee2117 жыл бұрын
John Skinner Fishing Yes. In the Gulf in Texas! Was very skeptical that vertical jigging would work here bc you are taught to work slow and when u feel the bump, bump, open the bail or let out line, wait 30secs (they say smoke a cigarette), then set the hook. This method to me is a sure way to gut hook. I can personally attest to catching using vert jigging incl flounder and speckled trout. My rig is the one you show in your videos (bucktail on bottom with gulp shrimp one ft above). I wade fish and so I'm not lighting em up like you do (and vert jigging can be tiring), but it works. So big thanks to you for your videos!
@JohnSkinnerFishing7 жыл бұрын
Excellent, and I appreciate you sharing that. I cringe at the thought of letting those fish swallow the offering for 15 to 30 seconds. What a waste. A lot of fish must get killed that way. In 30 seconds you can be hooked up on a second fish!
