“Music didn’t work out at first. It didn’t work out for me.

Big Sean wasn’t your stereotypical street rapper who engaged in a lot of illegal activities prior to fame.
In order to manifest his own success, in fact, he had to go against the normal grain set out for his middle class life of going to college like his family and had to actually believe that an academically thoughtful kid could make it in the rap game.
Although many people might see growing up in an academic family as an advantage, Big Sean had some of his darkest moments in his life realizing that he believed in his own music so much he was willing to give up college for the chance at becoming a rapper.
In this quote, we see Big Sean recounting how his darkest moment came RIGHT before he met Kanye West, and his ability to translate his own visions into reality helped him to stay motivated as a rapper.

Hope and optimism is for those who are already taking action towards what they want to accomplish, and it’ll get them past a barrier of wondering what this is all for and considering quittting. It’s powerful. You have to take the action to achieve the goal, that’s bottom line. But there’s more to it than that. You gotta do what puts your mind in the state of flow and mindfulness to take action. We’re human beings, not robots. There’s often a bigger battle going on. Then again what are we doing here arguing about what creates success if we feel like we haven’t done enough?

This is really good advice - Im not into the metaphysicals - but that being said - in a very real. psycho-dynamic way - if you cant imagine being 'unblocked" - you have much harder time finding a solution to that block. Sometimes - just taking action to solve a creative problem - brings solutions you didnt expect - the main thing - is knowing its something you CAN DO something about. IF you cant imagine it - you feel "HELPLESS" and that - for a lot of folks brings SHAME - which NEVER helps anyone. Im not preaching here - I know these things because I still struggle with them - Im struggling as I write this honestly - but - I have struggled - and broken through before - as I am sure every cat on this thread has. Keep your heads up brothers and sisters - one other thing - doing anything you love is going to SUCK sometimes - but thats how you know you really love it - you are willing to put up with the shitty parts - and on the road to mastery of ANY skill or art form - suckage is a guarantee! YOU are guaranteed to SUCK for a minute - the true heads can stomach it. (drops mic)
