I noticed Tammy is using 4.75" barrels on a Colt or Italian clone ( firing pin attached to hammer) not a Ruger with transfer bar. Also, the guns don't have lowered hammers. I assume they are not short-stroked either. Being a Cowboy Action Shooter, I assumed most mounted shooters used the 3" barrelled Montado/CMS lowered hammer short-stroke guns, like the Uberti Kenda Lenseigne model, or the Ruger Montado.

I have been shooting for 20 years. Old school is 4.75 barrels Years later someone came out with the idea that the 3 1/2 barrell is faster handling. I have no problem with making my gun change and I like the 4.75 for better balance and performance. Much like position and size of holsters . Old school says wear them like a cowboy not like a bucket attached to your chest for a faster gun change. To each their own someone will always try to out smart the rules so they don't have to practice their gun change and just drop the gun in a bucket holster attached to your chest.
