Glad to see that you guys finally got a chance to get outside. That still looked a bit windy though. Nothing the old 17C couldn't handle. I've got one of those "French foreign legion" hats too Will, and I love it. Glad to hear you took that snapper home and cooked it mate. Catch and release is nice, but there is nothing wrong with taking some home to feed the family. It would be a bugger to have a couple of weeks up there with the wind blowing its guts out the whole time. Cheers.

Hey mate, thanks for the kind words, as always it's great to hear from you Graham. Yes, the Haines V17C chews up any bit of wind chop like it isn't even there, it's awesome 👌 Yeah the hats are awesome, they are great for sun protection while still being nice and cool in Summer. And I agree mate, it's okay to keep some fish for a feed, as you see in some of my videos, we don't just keep everything we catch but it's always good to feed the family, and it tasted bloody unbelievable too, could eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner 😂 We luckily got out a few times offshore and got some good fish, I'm going to post those videos soon. Thanks for the comment Graham, I hope you're doing well mate 👍

@@willkitching ...Mate, since this last post of mine, I was watching another one of your videos (the one where you are seen to get out of bed, probably on a camping trip, and it looks like you are in a Jayco (possibly a Eagle or a Hawk) is that right ? I'm going to get one of those in the near future. I reckon they are the ultimate little setup. If I'm right, how do you find yours ?

Nice work mate. Snapper and calamari for dinner..... doesn't get any better. I hear you look for bait schools when you get to your marks. Do you ever jig for livies and drop one in? Look forward to next installment👍
@willkitching
@willkitching 5 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate!! And yes, Calamari for entré, Snapper for main 😂 Yeah we do try to jig up a livie and send it out when possible as this is the best way to entice a large fish. Dad has a saying, it just takes one big fish to make the trip worthwhile. In one of my upcoming videos, we drop one down and it gets absolutely destroyed so stay tuned 😉 Thanks for the comment as always mate 👍

For your plastics & Jigheads with your plastics what weights do you recommend, cheers for the tips mate👍🏼🎣
@willkitching
@willkitching 5 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, we fished in about 30 meters in this video and used a 3/8 ounce head and it worked fine even with a tiny bit of wind. When the wind/current makes your drift a bit quicker, we upsize to a 1/2 ounce jighead. These seem to be all we need, and on a reeeeally calm day the heaviest you will need is a 3/8, you could probably go even lighter. You don't want the plastic on the bottom, you just want it about three quarters of the way down. When you get it right, your line will be at about a 45 degree angle, or even a bit more horizontal. I'm going to do a video on this next time we are out there too so stay tuned for that. We use a 3" Zman minnowz (pink does really well), and use a size 3/0 hook on the jighead (the thicker 3/0 ones), it's the perfect size. •TT Lures 'Headlockz' - 3/0 (heavy gauge hook) The other thing is even if we fish in 40 meters we start with a 3/8 ounce, but when we fish in 60 meters for example on the Gold Coast, we usually start with a 1/2 ounce and can always change to a smaller one if really needed. You can even experiment with lighter jigheads than 3/8 ounce in the shallower water on super calm days where you are drifting extra slow. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions let me know! 👍 cheers and good luck

Fantastic mate, great Vid once again. What’s your recommendation for an inshore reef on the Sunny coast?? Coolum, Gneerings or Murphy’s?
@willkitching
@willkitching 5 жыл бұрын
G'day Mark, thanks very much for the kind words mate, we appreciate it!👍 in terms of an inshore reef recommendation... this was at Murphy's, which is where we have fished the most. In the past we've got a few Snapper and Sweetlip on the inner gneerings, but because it is shallow the bite tends to be early or on overcast days, plus it's quite close for everyone to get to. And we haven't really fished Coolum before actually. The key is just to find bait schools, or good lumpy bits of reef and bommies on your sounder, but for me finding bait schools and fishing them like we do in this video is the key to finding fish. Thanks again for the kind words mate, good luck! 👍

Awesome day 👌🏽hey what boat ramp do you use up there ?
@willkitching
@willkitching 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah mate was so stoked! Thanks for watching and commenting. We go out through the Mooloolah River bar, using the boat ramp off Parkyn Parade (the ramp where the Mooloolaba Coast Guard is based). It's got 4 lanes (2 seperate ramps), two long pontoons to hold the boat and has plenty of car/trailer parks. There is one at La Balsa Park (harbour parade I think it is) but it is much smaller and is more effected by the strong current and doesn't really have anywhere to hold the boat while you park the car. Hope this helps, tight lines!

@@willkitching thanx heaps man definitely gonna get up there and give it ago. How’s the bar most days? Safety wise?
@willkitching
@willkitching 3 жыл бұрын
@@lukawilliams4822 Yeah the bar is really good mate, just gotta watch though at the moment there is a bit of a sand bar forming at the mouth of it. It's on the right side as you go out to sea, so just stick a bit to the left when you get right to the mouth. The swell can sometimes wrap around there (because the bar doesn't face straight out to sea) but it's not really a worry at all, just sit behind a wave on the way in. It's the safest bar on the sunshine coast mate and I've never had a trouble there at all even in crappy weather!
