Big SPECKLED TROUT in popular community hole!

Earlier this week, my good fishing buddy Justin Bowles and I set off on a three-day fishing adventure that would take us to different areas along the Louisiana coast. The first stop on Monday morning was to one of the most heavily fished areas in the entire state.
Every winter, speckled trout stack up in the Mississippi River-Gulf Outlet, a deep channel that was once used as a shortcut for ships to reach the port of New Orleans. Now dammed off, the MRGO sees no commercial traffic, but it often holds more recreational hulls than a boat show.
That's because the depth of the water allows speckled trout to escape the shallow marshes, where temperatures can fluctuate wildly in the winter, often dropping to uninhabitable levels. The channel also acts as a conduit, ushering sexually mature shrimp out to the salty bays and Gulf, where they'll propagate the species.
That confluence of mild water and bait makes the area irresistible to speckled trout, and some of the fish in the region are exceptionally large.
That was certainly true of one of the fish Bowles caught to start our trip. We netted it, videoed it, photographed it and released it before getting on a fast bite that resulted in a limit of fish.

Went in the Rigolets on Tuesday. First stop we caught three bass. Then for hours we could not give a bait away. Last stop going in we caught about twenty reds in one place. Good day in south LA!

I only have 2 poles so I really dont want to put braid on one because i hate tieing it-- went yesterday out of hopedale, fished the ponds and marsh, didnt go out far and only had 3 trout, 4 sheeps and a bull red. Bites were scarce. When youre targeting bass out there near the mrgo, you just look for grass and rig up a texas, or?? I haven't had any luck. Should the tide be rising or falling when im doing that?

You do a lot of catching you don't never do clean and Cooks not like talking about how come love to see you free ladies big fish and fry them up bake them however you hook them up I know you got some good recipes man all you ever show is you catching fish and I'll never see you eating them

Todd what size and color braid do you use for trout and reds

I don't care about color because I use a fluorocarbon leader. My favorite braid right now is Daiwa J-Braid.

He uses 30lb test braid from what Todd has said in previous videos. Don't quote me! Me personally for Inshore fishing i use 30lb braid and 12lb Flouro for main lines on my baitcasters. I use 20lb braid on my spinning reels. I use flouro or mono leaders on both setups. Tight lines!
