@@DrawtheCurtains i think he was sort of bewildered by their adoration for songs he viewed as juvenile/adolescent, especially given that they were such commercial failures when they were first released

@@DrawtheCurtains Ken summed it up pretty good. Alex, here 20 or more years removed from Big Star, viewed it as the embarrassing poetry of his youth, and made a conscious effort to not be moved by its resurgence. He basically did the whole Big Star 2.0 thing because there was money in it. I get the impression he actually enjoyed the Box Tops oldies circuit.
