Me too man. I've been flying hang gliders. Started 3 years ago and had some time off from sciatic nerve pinch, but that's over now. Will do more hang gliding this winter here in AZ as our season starts to get towed up. However I like the idea of travelling further. Not having to own a glider. Can just rent one pretty cheaply anywhere. Can also take up a passenger. All good things. Also, there are starting to be a lot more electric motor assisted gliders for more safety to consider. I'm excited because I've lost 20 Lbs of the 10 I needed to lose to get into a training glider. So I'm ready as far as weight goes. Have to weigh under 240, So I'm 12 Lbs under that now. What a great way to set a goal huh?

As I always try to spot where your are: by zooming in on your dashboard GPS.✌🏻 I had never realised before🤫 that "Lake Konstanz" is the same thing as 'Bodensee'. Which make sense ofcourse, when one of the most famous cities/towns on it is: Konstanz - 🤦🏼♀️duh😅.

Watching this reminds me of all the photos my best friend always used to send me from Germany on his gliding adventures. He last flew a King Air 90 before we lost him in a plane crash this past July. He always told me that if I made it to Germany to visit him he'd teach me how to glide and go on a flying trip around Europe in a DA40, as in the states where I live it's not great for gliders and Diamonds are a rare breed. he Came to the US to visit us twice. I never made it to Germany.

Stefan, I'm thinking of getting my pilot certificate and then a glider. I will need to tow it around and I see you moving one/yours behind a small car in a vid on your channel. I thought that the trailer and glider would weigh around 900kg. What size vehicle do I need to be able to tow one. I live in Oz and we do have some prolonged ascending roads that I need to maintain 100kph on, but not like the ones your flying over in this vid, lol.
@SteFly2 жыл бұрын
900kg is a realistic number. Trailers for powered gliders can weigh up to 1300kg.

What electric vario is that?
@thebentley712 жыл бұрын
So now imagine what they could do with a super efficient hybrid gasoline/electric system in a powered glider plane, with solar assistance from the most powerful & efficient solar panels in the world, all over the top of the wings, the top of the fuselage, the top of horizontal stabilizer & the elevators that are attached to it. Then put the newest & best lithium ion battery bank, in the plane. The water ballast tanks in the wings could be removed & changed for gasoline fuel cells. Along with an oxygen system, to get above the bad weather when it gets in your direct path. I'm not talking about something like the really slow all electric plane, with solar assistance during the daylight, that went around the world with a top speed less than 80 knots. I'm talking about an all carbon/kevlar fiber motorized, 4-6 seater glider plane, with titanium & Aviation grade aluminum for the metal parts. The new gasoline engine/electric motor hybrid system would use a very powerful inline 3 cylinder 1.5L nissan neod turbocharged gasoline engine that makes 400 h.p. at peak power, & only weighs 88lbs or 40 kilos. Mated to a Seimens Emrax 348 mm in diameter electric motor, that only weighs 42 kilos. The Emrax electrical motor puts out 509 h.p. at peak power & 738 ft. lbs of torque, max rpm is 4500 rpms. Both the engine & motor are the most powerful in weight to power in their class. So the entire hybrid system would weigh less than 200 lbs & should one fell you, you have at least a minimum of 400 h.p. on tap no matter what happens. The Emrax 348 mm in diameter is the largest & strongest of the Seimens Emrax motors & they can be stacked like coins on top of each other. When they are ran in reverse they are also the most powerful alternator/generators. Nissan nismo also makes compact inline 6 cylinder & a V6 3 liter engines that are twin turbo- charged engines that weigh 200 lbs, & make 800 h.p. & are still made for durability just like the 3 cylinder. By using these ultra light weight engines & electrical Emrax motors, this will be future hybrid systems for the Aviation industry. Especially if we start producing giant hydrogen (HHO) refineries, & build small tanks similar to scuba tanks with heating elements in them, that can be filled just like propane tanks, & connected to or you are able to fill up your automobile, motorcycle, & aircraft . Instead of gas & diesel refineries, we to do away with crude oil which creates gasoline & diesel, & start making refineries that turn water into oxygen & hydrogen. When hydrogen is burned it turns back into water aka h2o, which is a never ending cycle. Our beautiful mother earth will become healthy again along with all the humans that the Creator made in his image.

It has nothing to do with a glider but we will see more of these hybrid solutions.
