Points changes now seem to be live on the download: www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/GXzaI0Z941DGQwZM.pdf They also changed the Mont'ka core rule which I'll aim to cover in another video. It's now the LETHAL HITS that they gain if guided, and it's the assault bit that they get stock. I suppose that's one way to fix it as it didn't really work properly, but seems like a slight nerf overall?

Big nerf, no more lethals on overwatch and units that usually didn't get spotters, like breachers, will have far less access to lethal hits

I think a clear sign that Tetras where going away was that they gave the Stealth Suits basically the same skill (and why they removed them from the Combat Patrol, so you have to get them full price to replace your Tetras), and Orks FW models going away pretty much stablished that most FW stuff will follow suit.

What irks me is I bought Tetras at the same time as the Kroot box launch on the GW store (layers of poor choices there). So they had them front page at the time they shipped the rules, knowing they were going to be deleted. Triple hitting the breacher unit was kind of harsh, but they are pretty great damage output. But seldom survive the next turn, essentially just a funny shaped 1 shot weapon.

Tetras going away was pretty much expected. The points increases on Sunforge Battlesuits are ok in Retaliation Cadre I think, Starscythes going down in points kinda evens this out. Breachers and Devilfishes going up a bit was expected, too. Riptides going up 15 points puts them back into "meh"-tier though. They're big tough things that can stand on objectives, not awful, but not great either. What really bugs me is the Broadsides. Railguns hardly profit either from Montka or from Retaliation Cadre and Misslesides are overshadowed by Fireknifes simply being a lot cheaper for essentially doing the same thing.

Whenever an old resin model is made powerful in game, BEWARE! this is the classic GW Bait and Switch. They've been sitting on those resin models for at least 15 years and want to sell them and cut production because they don't sell. So they make them they OP model of the month, metachasers buy them all up, and then GW discontinues and removes the model from play next update.

The issue with the Tiger Shark is that it can do _nothing_ until the third turn, unless you go second (something you have no control over) and Rapid Ingress it during the opponent's second turn. 160mm base means that it gets in, it can't be deployed entirely within 6" of the map border, and thus it's forced to not shoot for that entire turn. And no HOVER means it can't avoid it either.

The other problem it has though is that you move and then pivot so you announce your flight path and on a table with plenty of terrain you can be move blocked. You do include the extra movement to fly over buildings though which can help mitigate the minimum 20” move.

Except that the unit must be wholly within 6" of _any battlefield edge,_ and thus your solution doesn't actually work, because it will always be beyond 6" of both the edges you're counting for your corner. The entire rule is honestly silly in the extreme, and cuts off many strategic options for more than a few models in the game.

@@ComplexConcept I'm coming round to still trying out the Missilesides. 2 Fireknifes teams being cheaper is still a hard pill to swallow. Losing Tetras which really helped the missile drones also hurt the broadsides. In the end I saved points elsewhere like 2 railsides for a 3rd hammerhead and dropping the 2nd Breacherfish (I can get 2 pathfinders for 1 mounted Breacherfish (that's 70 shots Vs 28 even if the pathfinder shots are worse that's a big gap).

No these points are mostly lower than the codex, Auspex was comparing them to current competitive play points, because the codex isn’t really used in competitive play yet. Like broadsides are already 110pts in the codex, not 90pts, and stealth suits were 75pts in the codex, not 60pts

I think the argument for FW big kits being difficult to swap to plastic, as they are 'too difficult/complex' to port over is pretty weak. Look at Bandai's Gundam ranges. Incredible complex, detailed and (relatively) easy to build models. Also, cash value to cash value, a darn sight cheaper than FW's poorly cast lumps of resin.

They would never do that because they only care about $ at this point and they want people to buy stuff then make it go to Legends once it's sold out. It's a predatory business practice that they keep doing and getting away with. A perfect example is what happened with a lot of the Horus Heresy stuff they told people you can use it in 40k, sold a bunch of it and then said it can only be used in Hersey. Thank Goodness for casual play were GW's BS Ruels doesn't matter. I would love to get a Glaive and a Sicaran Battle tank for my Dark Angels army. They both fit with the Dark Angels lore because of the access to the best Imperial Tech during the Great Crusade that the 1st Legion had.

I think T'au are still pretty good. I am worried about everything that isn't Mont'ka, though... Everything else already seemed weak compared to Mont'ka and now Kauyon will have even less stuff to make it into the later game. Maybe the crisis suit buffs will be good enough for retaliation cadre, though.

The thing that annoys me about stuff like losing Tetras is that nothing else does what they do. If you delete them from the game, then you need to give Tau another fast marker unit. Remove shitty FW models all you want,but don't completely remove the role they played. It's like removing basically all Daemon Engines from CSM without giving them anything to replace them.

Heck they removed the Dimachaeron it’s fairly new compared to the other offering in tyranid resin and it also fit their criteria for large model that should stay forgeworld. But what did they do, removed it so people would have to buy the brand new norn emissary. Orks are one of the hordiest armies out there and they banned almost all the models, but they left in weirdboy which is fine cast. They make no sense except to cut what they want to make people spend more money.

Been looking forward to this, been wanting to know how my lists will look with the new codex

I just started picking up T'au for a Kroot army, before coming here I had everything at Codex values, and it's funny that I thought the Tau got a huge points DECREASE. Sorry for all the Tau players before, sucks to lose models and have to make cuts to lists.

Generally think the point increases were done pretty well. Broadsides may be a bit over the top and will probably only see play with missiles in mont'ka. Ethereal should probably go down to at least 40. Similarly Strike Teams need to either have better weapons or go done further. Sunforged are way less powerful now without Tetras so 170 may be too much. Losing Tetras reaaally hurts since there's nothing that can really fill their role in the roster. Stealth Suits will be autoinclude NOW (they weren't before as you've stated here), but more so because there's nothing that does a similar thing (next best are Pathfinder, but they are way squishier). Hard to say how well Tau will do now because of Tetras being gone. They definitely needed point increases, since they now have actual detachments (well at least 1 or 2) instead of Kauyon. I'm just cautiously pessimistic on them running into troubles with regards to lack of observer units. Lastly, the Kroot are still a meme. Noone can convince me that Rampagers are better than something like Meganobs (who to be fair are probably undercosted). Carnivores at 75p, will only ever see play in other detachments as a single unit for sticky-ing an objective. I'm glad that some people will play and hopefully enjoy their detachment, but the datasheets are just too weak to build a list around.

there is no need to make more space, cause their warehouses are empty. xD the few friends of mine that still order from gw have been waiting 6+ months for their orders and my local gw store has more empty shelves than full ones. and it is much worse for 3rd party retailers, some have a backlog of orders they are not receiving from gw going back almost 9 months, and the shipments they do get are anaemic.

Warhammer tabletop is somehow turning into a live service game. Soon it will be your mini's are four years old? yeah you cant use them anymore. It was crazy enough that they have to keep making a new version of the game every few years. Instead of slowing down their release schedule back to monthly they just delete old stock.

To be fair, the game has always been that way really. I had Rogue Trader models that weren't allowed in 2nd ed, 2nd Ed models that disappeared in 3rd (heck an entire army from 2nd ed didn't exist after 3rd), and so on down the line. Heck there were even editions that had units in the codex that never even got miniatures (looking at you Wazdakka Gutzmek).

This is absolutely ridiculous... They removed basically the entire forgeworld range. And they completely destroyed the broadsides... The nerfs to Fire Blades, Sky Rays and Farsight is ok but wow, I wish they had nerved Necrons that hard

I'm completely devastated over losing the Riptide variants. They were my favorite models in the Tau army and was planning to buy them this Christmas. So far every faction I've started saving money for has either lost my favorite models or have been completely gutted.

At this point I would say that everyone should stop buying anything from Forgeworld. All the Eldar units, like shadow specters or the dark eldar big tank, I wouldn't buy any of it as it is probably all going when their codex drops. I also thought Forgeworld was over priced anyway but it sucks for people who invested in these.

Hopefully those survive, it's becoming a pattern though, since the Forge World site disappeared every Codex the factions Forge World units have been axed for the most part. GW should leave the Eldar stuff alone or make it in plastic, because the Eldar don't really have anything else that are similar to those. Gw is a inept and poorly run company in my opinion though they seem out of touch with the general community at this point. It's sad that people spent money on that stuff, but at least they can still be used in casual games.

The Mont’ka detachment rule also got a nerf. Everything gets Assault, and only Guided units get Lethal Hits.

I feel like tau should have that smart targeting technology like in some futuristic fps shooters where the gun will not fire if it's pointing at a friendly so you can fire at units within melee range of friendly units and only be penalized like light cover

With the merging of forgeworld and the normal site, I really hoped they'd have folded some of the main resin things into their main codices, but no. Not the end of the world, but a bit unforeseen.

So now that people rushed out and bought Kroot, they upped the points. GW decided a long time ago that Tau should never be top tier, as it makes their favourites look bad. Tetras going is sad to see, but not a huge surprise. One day I'll get to dust off my Stormsurge and use it, but today is not that day.

The bottom line is don’t trust anything in Imperial Armory staying around. Build your armies without units from there. Nothing from Imperial Armory has translated to a new Codex. I told my local GW Store manager that even though I really wanted a Lancer for my Chaos Knights I just didn’t trust his company. He said he bets the Lancer stays in 40K. I said “Tell that to my two Spartan Assault Tanks,”

Ya know, I'm glad that the only Forgeworld I've ever bought is Necromunda and specific dreadnought arms for conversions. I feel really, really bad for anyone who saved up for one of these expensive as hell kits only to watch them nuked from orbit. We can only hope they bring them back in plastic someday, though with how GW is about Forgeworld right now it's hard to say if that'll ever happen.

What is the purpose of drone models now? I have a few drone models from a 9th edition Tau combat patrol box, but I dont see any point values or stats assigned to them anywhere.
