That C65 with the 5+2 brings back lots of memories. 427 or 396 ? Some of them (tandems) came with a small 13 speed that was a bear to shift. Had to shift through 3 ranges, not like a real 13 speed.

See a lot of people put the factory steps on the right hand side when they put the easy up steps on the Soundgard. Makes it easy to get up and wipe down the windows. Was a pretty good price, you don't see many small frames that age with triple remotes. White were a good price as well. Those Ford chassis tractors, Ford had a program back in the 70's where they gave a bunch of those chassis to VoAg programs. My high school had, maybe still has one, in storage for God know how long.

Not a farmer here but always wanted a small farm. I lived in the country as a young boy but moved. I understand JD's # code that's 9400= 9 series and 400 HP but what does 4555 mean? I know they changed the compacts after the 80-90's (when IDK) Used to run a 950 in the 90's. That IH truck would have been a nice truck to have "IF" you have a use for it. That Chevy wasn't bad they had a truck like that for stone at a Ready mix plant. It seems like nobody could shift that thing right with that 2 speed rear end, but it was there and ready to go. That parking situation is what truck drivers face all the time that's why they don't like trying to park at some of these places and park in a way that you CAN'T block them in. (gives the guys a bad rap but...?) Looks like chaos at those things but where else are you going to get that stuff, seems they had some nice big stuff but not much in the middle sized equipment. Hope you have better luck next time.
@PatrickShivers
@PatrickShivers 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching Brad. There was a lot of small tractors and some midsize cab Kubotas, they just didn’t make the final edit. JD changed their numbering system to display hp rating around 10 years ago. Before that it was series first then size. So 45 would be about a three to four year window of production and 55 would be the size of tractor. A great example of this is the 4755 made from 1988-1992 which was then replaced with the 4955 in 1993. There is some 48 series but the 49 was introduced immediately following 47.

One of the best deals we ever got on a tractor was one of those European reimported john deere 4240S MFWD nearly 20 years ago when john deere was still trying to convince people that it was illegal to own one and you'd never get parts for it. I have seen some of those around. They look like an el cheapo version of the US 40 series tractors. All of the ones I have seen had a mechanical seat suspension like a 30 series, instead of the hydraulic seat that came in the 40 series sold here in the US. A lot of them have short axles and steel rear wheels with no rack and pinion adjustment. The three point arms are also different. Might be ok for making hay but you would play hell trying to pull anything heavy with one. I think some of them had a different engine in them than the 466 used in US models. The ones I have seen sell at auction usually didn't bring much.

A tractor that size is waaay too big for a hobby farmer with only a few acres and most professional farmers with thousands of acres to cover don't want to be relying on a 30+ year old tractor to get the job done. Last but not least, nothing bigger than a 44XX Deere has a 540 PTO so a 45, 46, 47, 48 or 49XX is basically useless as a chore tractor which is why they don't bring much.

@@trevorn9381 my brother in law has a 7820 with a 540 pto. My dad has two 4755s and a 4960. They have been used to run augers, mow, pull a land leveler, run a grain cart, pull a grain drill, all types tillage, planting, pull/run peanut shakers and pickers….pretty much any chore or job on the farm. If there is a 540/1000 pto compatibility issue he has a pto adapter that bolts over shaft….and before you say that’s not reliable/safe it’s been working just fine since the early 1990s.
@trevorn9381

@@PatrickShivers Yeah I know PTO adapters are available but I am not a fan of them. The biggest tractor we ever had was a 4440 but I have run some of the older large frame Deeres for other farmers and IMO they were just too big and clumsy for chore work. That is just my opinion though. An old farmer I worked for as a teen had a 4840 with heavy cast duals on it. That thing was a big beast of a tractor and was great for lugging a 30' disk with a cultipacker behind it across hundred acre fields but I couldn't imagine using that big thing for chore work and it was basically the same sized tractor as a 4755.

You have to have the tractor in park or the clutch down on the IH tractors or they won’t turn over Neutral safety switch. Minneapolis Moline , R John Deere ,and 830John Deere had cabs long before International harvester with the leaning door. In the early 90's I paid the dealership to install a John Deere loader on my 4010. I front of the brake pedals their is an elbow , you replace that with a tee. That is the inlet to the loader valve body. The cast iron transmission filter cover is where the outlet from the loader valve body goes. John Deere has the tee and filter cover to do this. This frees up the remotes on the back of my tractor. My loader hoses have quick disconnects. I can take the loader off! My 4010 has two more remotes if needed. I go to the field to bale , the spike is on my loader if I need to move a bale.

@@PatrickShivers Don't believe they have, but can't say with 100% certainty. Pretty sure it's just free market forces that are resulting in the European tractors showing up, here in the US. Factors such as overall market size for used tractors in Europe vs USA, what is considered old and outdated there vs here, etc.... are making it where there's profit to be found shipping those tractors across the Atlantic to be sold. One such factor may very well be that here in the US, it seems that pre-emission tractors in decent/good condition, bring a premium compared to models with emissions controls in the same condition.

Bull. My 1966 4020 diesel requires cracking the throttle, turning the key switch on, and pushing the start button. My 1948 JD "B" uses the throttle control to be opened 1/4 with a little choke, along with depressing the foot pedal/rod to engage the electric starter. No key switch because it has a magneto ignition. My 3 Farmall "M" tractors (1941, 1944, & 1946) all have a push-pull knob power switch. Crack the throttle, pull the choke, and step on the starter rod that depresses the starter switch. Some machines have clutch safety switches. Some have neutral safety switches. Gas and/or diesels. Starting any tractor ain't rocket science... just gotta slow down & think. Always be smarter than the machine you're wanting to operate.

A lot of factors in play such as how many hours are on each machine, is it currently equipped for the buyer’s needs? The 4755 would need all new tires in different width to do row crop work. The rears are $3,000 each. You’re looking at $9,500-$10,000 just to get all 4 tires ready for peanut farming (which is what we do here).

If it ain’t a MF165 or 135 it don’t get much love down south. I’m heading to an auction next weekend. I will have my eyes out for a MF tractor to review

$42,000 for a $80,000+ tractor is a steal. I stand by my title.

Hello, Patrick I won the bid on the 74 Chevy grain truck, it was a steal also. I the seat and vinyl out the chassis looks almost like it did the day it rolled off the assembly line , charged the battery it purrs like a kitten, like watching your videos

@@dawnjones4730 what a truck! It was in really good shape. I have one like it at my shop (in not as good shape) that my father purchased at that sale 20 years ago. We put a 1600 gallon water tank on the back of it.

I not sure about just getting in everything throwing switches and cranking up stuff you had no intention on buying seems rude to me

Thank you for watching and commenting. I attend this sale every year and something or things is purchased by my father or myself every year for as far back as I can remember. Not sure if you watched to the end when I said I have placed my bids online and we did indeed purchase items at this sale. You have no idea what I intended on buying or what was bought.

@@jimmytreadway3195 no hurt feelings here. The funnest part of equipment auctions is you never know what you’re going to buy until you get there and see/operate something. We usually come back with at least one thing that was not even in the realm of consideration before going to the auction. I’ll post another auction video Sunday or Monday.

@pricepatrick616 ok thanks for the advice, I just check out the ones I'm interested in by the way and if for some reason I have no idea of how to operate it I ask before I just jiggle everything around ,you know I try to not just be rude or take a chance screwing up someone's stuff but that's just me

Your the reason people don't leave keys no intention of buying just screw up other people's stuff don't even know the difference between wagon and atrailer go home
@PatrickShivers

I’ll start with your last assertion first: if you insist on not using synonyms (words that mean the same thing) per manufacturer description all Unverferths are gravity boxes while EZ Trails are wagons…..but they are the same thing. In our region everyone calls them all grain trailers. You are doing some serious linguistic hair splitting. Per not leaving keys in items at sale: if you can’t crank it and drive it then you can’t find out if the B-range is slipping in the 4440 or if there is a serious engine knock on a Case. Got to run it to know what it’s worth. Per 3rd assertion: I didn’t mess up anyone’s stuff, and you don’t know what I bid on or what I might have purchased. None of that info was in this particular video.

I dont think this guy knows the true value of things!!! I dont think the equipment is that cheap!!

I am very astute of equipment values. Perhaps you aren’t aware of what ag machinery cost. Most of this equipment is selling for 1/2 to 2/3 the costs it was 1 year ago. New Combines from John Deere are currently just over $1 million. Cotton pickers are $1.3 million. Average row crop tractors (250hp-400hp) are $300,000+ at the dealerships.
