I remember Fred Oster telling me about how as a young carman he went out to the cement plant by request of Bob Richardson to see if the engine could travel on its own wheels to Golden and he told Bob flatly NO

I could listen to Mr. Hammond talking about various locomotives for hours. Anyone else?

It was facinating to learn that Denver Union Station had dual gauge track up into the 30s

Very interesting . It is great to see presentations like this to show railroad history.

That is a brutally long service life for a single locomotive. Glad to see it survived into preservation.

Would love to see 4455 and 4466 side by side. Sisters reunited!
@weylinwest95058 ай бұрын
Indeed! Although, I think 4455 is static display only, and 4466 **was** a running locomotive, but (if I recall) 4466 was sidelined due to California's emissions standards of the year 2000 (4466 still ran on coal). 4466 might still be able to run (albeit after an inspection), however it is unlikely to run unless it gets converted to fuel-oil or some other "eco-friendly" fuel.

@@weylinwest9505 I really do hate the state of California. They are now banning vintage cars due to the chrome.

An interesting video about the development of standard gauge locomotives in the USA. And the life path of the steam locomotive UP 4455. Thanks for showing it and best regards from Germany

What isn’t mentioned, LVRR employees surrounded 4453 with dynamite after being canabalized, and was blown up. Few pictures remain of this

Hi guys. At 5:46 you showed a schematic for Union Pacific signal lines. I am a modeler and a nerd who collects insulators and I would really appreciate if you could let me know where I can find it for closer examination
