With this mashup I was trying to have two themes. One is Adele symbolically passing the torch to Angelina, so with Adele we just get the scenes of her singing and driving away. The other is having the meaning of lyrics like “I was just a child” and “go easy on me” be about Angelina’s career rather than Adele’s divorce. So that’s why the young Angelina scenes are in there. Let’s go easy on her! Also, let’s go easy on Adele! She is a great singer and songwriter and Angelina admires her..

Well. just have to say your choices for comparison aren't even close. I agree, Angelina is amazing but compering her to Whitney, Christina, Patsy or Karen is very silly and simplistic. All of those artists were the "greatest" in their own time, just like Aretha or Gladys Knight or Dianna Ross. Chris, this is not a mashup. This is a piece of art. The juxtaposition of Angelina and Adele at different phases of their careers is stunning and brilliant. I got the impression from this song also that this is autobiographical. That as a child, she didn't have time to choose. So go easy on her as she finds herself. We always talk about Angelina's ability to express emotion for adult events she has not experienced and how incredible that is. The fact here is that she has experienced it but in her own way in her own life. This masterpiece is magic.

I believe that both Angelina and Adele really rose to the occasion on this song. It is perhaps the best performance that either has done with a brilliantly written song. Adele is really tapping into her personal experience and it shows. What Angelina is tapping into is a mystery, she seems to be able to empathize with other people and express feelings she has never personally experienced.

Also listen to her version of I Put A Spell On You which she did the arrangements for herself for this piece. The sound of the film projector in the beginning, black&white, the short glimpse of Grandma Mery, with switched roles... not accidential, I suppose. And maybe the idea of Mery. She and Angelina seem to be really bonded. The relation of Angelina to Adeles song might be quite multiple. But it obviously really hit her, so she reacted as quickly, as she did, to make this cover, maybe, to get her own feelings released. By the way, for me this is one of Adeles best songs, with great expression. Both really fit together here.

Not enough is said about Mery Zamani introducing her granddaughter to jazz as a baby when most people believe it only would affect her if she were older. Being a child prodigy herself (art & poetry), she realized that special, gifted babies could absorb intricacies of music very early on. Angelina was therefore able to sing jazz songs aloud by 1-1/2. When singing heartfelt ballads like this, Angelina's ability to incorporate nuance and inflections of jazz icons like Billie Holiday (old school jazz) and Amy Winehouse, the most uniquely different jazz singer of all time, just brings forth a passionate response that resonates deeply in the human soul. A non-jazz singer, even a great one like Adele, is not able to match the level of depth that a true jazz singer like Angelina can. Angelina is the reigning Queen Of Jazz, having taken the baton from Ms. Winehouse.

It is titled 'Is this Better Than Adele' - Rethinking Singing, and he breaks down all sections of Easy by Me, performed by both Adele and Angelina. Besides his feeling that Angelina was superior, I was amazed when he shows in the 'power release' portion of the song, Angelina actually 'out belts' Adele. It is the most definitive breakdown of two artists singing the same song that I have ever seen. You may want to check it out.

@@juliettebobcat704 She is an outstanding 'jazz' singer, as Adele is in the genre of 'Pop', but what separates Angelina is her ability to excel in so many different genres of music where she cam emulate many different singers in numerous genres, also expanding enormously to the level of Whitney Houston, as well as going into the low, low register of singing that Elvis did in his gospel classic 'How Great Thou Art'. You may not like hearing it, but compared to Angelina, Samara is 'in essence', a 'jazz' specialist who is basically a 'one trick pony'. There have been, in the past, great jazz singers that preceded her, but when we are talking about 'most versatile of all time', that is Ms. Angelina Jordan. Just doing one song, recently released, she has totally redefined the genre of 'jazz' with people trying to come up with a proper way to describe it. As of now, it is being (for the most part) referred to as a form of 'Retro' singing that incorporates 'Jazz and 'Pop''.
