It's funny you mentioned Taeyang's hair because initially the media debated a lot whether he was full Korean thinking he was half black, and were very rude about his possible mix heritage, but he kept on wearing his braids. Taeyang and GD were influenced a lot by their dance instructor in the early days of YG he was black and an amazing dancer. Wow I can't remember his name but you can def still find video footage on KZbin of the dance practices. Taeyang loves black culture and to be fair back then it was culture appreciation because everybody wore those "Iverson" braids- black brown white yellow, didn't matter what color you were - braids, jersey, Jordans were street fashion uniform but different times, simpler times. My Dad was stationed in SK during this time and it was nothing for some black military wives to make money doing braids for the Korean boys and girls and no one cared but old people.

Tonight was released in the era of Autotune'use, but all we know that they don't need it 🤭 Ohhh probably you could have listened it before because, BIGBANG was the first Kpop group to won an internacional win in EMA in 2011 with this song TONIGHT 🔥 When BIGBANG won this award, all fandoms of Kpop was very happy and proud with them. There was rivalry but at the time of the hour we supported each other, not like now that the fandom that became selfish.

From what I remember, Tonight saved them as a group. Bcuz on early 2009 to 2011 each of them had controversies etc. But Tonight became a top-charting song in SKorea and it was also the 1st kpop album to be part of the US Top 10 itunes chart back then. Not only that it won awards internationally esp the MTV EMA for best worldwide act. They were even thinking of disbanding back then, but they continued to go on and on 2012 they released ALIVE album. The album that literally changed kpop. It was also the first time in SK to promote all of the songs in the album. Well after the release, all of the songs on the album charted on all SKorea's music sites. It was also the 1st kpop album to enter US billboard 200. It just topped internationally and won awards. ALIVE solidified them as Kings of Kpop, emperors rather haha thank u for reacting for BIGBANG hoped you'd continue to do more!

Is it sad that I remembered the first two vids because of injuries? Taeyang actually injured his foot doing that backflip during their early days practising that choreo. And the reason TOP wasn’t moving that much in Beautiful Hangover was because he was actually suffering from a stiff neck (can’t remember what for prob a movie or practice) Tonight was my intro to BB actually. I loved that they filmed that in Vegas and had actual fun doing the MV (I remember GD saying he got lost while actually shooting that corridor scene)

Comments about cultural appropriation come up around early Bigbang videos. I'm black and indian and never had an issue with the braids. Art is art, their hairstlyes are no stranger than when the 50's and Black performers routinely used Straightening/ "Conking" of the hair. When you look back in history there were many tribes in this country that wore locks/dreds. and many cultures around the world who wore braids. The you can only wear braids, locks if you're black is based on a lack of knowlege of history of the style. Only my opion of course everyone has one.

That's why sometimes I'm thinking of what's the point of sharing your culture to outsiders if one cries over CA. Like, if you get offended when outsiders look or act like your culture, yet you want outsiders to recognize or be knowledgable about your culture. It's confusing. 😅😅😅 So in BB's part in the past, GD literally became a rapper coz his fave is a black rapper. Both he and Taeyang likes the black style rapping in hiphop and rnb and it influenced them. But they were bashed for it coz they ain't black doing some black stuff. 😅😅😅

lol sorry for TAEYANG he was "obsessed" with the Black culture in the old days all his idols where black artists (Gd too before you get shocked) BIGBANG in general did a lot of cultural appropriation in the old days thinking these things are cool and trendy and they got scolded by fans and educated on these things later . unfortunately kpop idols until this day need to be educated on these matters they don't learn from the past generations idols and I'm not saying any of those idols including BIGBANG have bad intentions they just lack education on these things. ps. seungri was 16 and top was 20 both of them real name is "seung hyun" and as a fun way of differentiate them they started calling seungri as "MAKNAE" witch means the youngest that's how the word MAKNAE become a thing between idol groups in general.
