Jarkko's Holy Diver - early acoustic and late symphonic (ten years apart)...hmm? He's been called the 'Son of Dio' for a reason.

Bro, there is a cover of this song by kids from the Okeefe Musix Foundation that is perhaps one of the most amazing things that you will ever hear. You need to react to it.

Definitely do. Also if you love her headvoice you have to check out her live performances of " Long and Lost " like this one. ( I timed it so it goes right to the section to the end and she continues it til the end.) kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6rJi3V_l9Omipo

Something he should mention at the beginning: it is VERY VERY unusual for Florence to perform the same song in the same way twice ... She always varies her performances

Florence always looks like she time-traveled out of a Victorian novel.

Her voice has become so seasoned. She’s learned when she needs to use those big notes and when to just let it be. It’s really refreshing to watch and listen to her. There’s no other artist like her.

This is the song that made me fall in love with this beautiful, beautiful woman. I watched the video, gasped, googled the lyrics, found out the name, watched the video 350 times again and here we are, all those years later. She's an angel 😊

Great reaction! Florence sings with her entire body, it's not just about her (mindblowing) voice, it's about her entire being. She's kind of unique in the current music business I think.

Thank you! Watching this with you helped verbalize what I'm feeling/seeing when I watch her videos and you're so right! The style/signature was there but the nuance and ease in her performances has for sure increased :)

Her voice has really filled out and has a much rounder tone over those 8 years hasn't it.... and the muscle memory that has developed has brought an effortless perfection that comes through... The only way I can vocalize it is that she was singing the song perfectly in the first clip, and in the second clip the song flowed out of her while she allowed herself to live and feel the journey of emotions that this song takes her through. What I hear is an artist that has been technically perfect for a decade, but one that trust her voice enough in the second clip to focus on her emotions rather than the technical aspects of the sonic shapes. Thank you for this video, I loved seeing her progression...Amazing!

Superb guitar playing. Such crisp silences after the played segments. The second one is sooooosoft and beautiful. Almost Floor level soul touching! The backing singer is superb!!!!

Love the concept of this video and glad I came across it randomly. I will say I prefer the older version of this and it is not even close. There is just a certain power and consistency she entrances you with from beginning to end that just doesn't come through in the later version. The song almost sounds disjointed in a way, hard to describe, but she finds it in the final chorus which reminds me of the power the original had. Less is more works way better in this one in my opinion.

I would totally recommend her videos from The Odyssey, an other side of her for you...Starting with- what kind of man, (Idk how she didnt won a grammy for these videos) And you can watch a live perfomance on TFI of Delilah as well...in her shows she has crazy energy (you can see on non-official videos from phones, she has great stamina and no shame lol), but tv performances are also cool.

Florence is the only artist I know who sounds better live, be it festivals or concerts. Mind blowing. her energy, dancing, jumping on the stage and still singing like an otherwordly creature. Never seen anything like that.

She got way more versatile over the years, but I still prefer her old version over the new one. It was more.... "pure" and I think she connected way more to the song in the previous version.

I do appreciate his observations and teachings...but aside from that, I have never before heard this 2018 version. It's absolutely stunning. I literally almost crapped in my pants. It's so beautiful and glorious. She's an absolute genius, and those musicians are terrific as well. Amazing. I'm stunned. This woman can do no wrong in my eyes. I would buy an album of her just singing in the shower. Thanks to this channel for introducing this to me. It's very interesting.

I love hearing you say that movement is good for control. I have ADHD and I stim with movement or vocals or fidgets. When I have too much energy, I sing. Florence + The Machine is the perfect artist to belt loudly in an empty room. I suppose I always had a misconception that you gotta be stiff and professional to be a good singer. So, hearing from a professional that that is not the case and, in fact, movement is encouraged is oddly empowering.

I don't know man. I still feel like the first one sounds better. Yes, she definitely has gotten better with using her instrument and it shows and she's amazing, but it also feels like the song has lost a lot of the magic and emotion that was in it.
@Bronte55 Жыл бұрын
I have to agree with you. The earlier version sounds like Florence is still inspired by the song. The later version sounds just a bit tired and jaded.
@Brax19823 жыл бұрын
I disagree with the general consensus. I prefer the old Florence on the old songs. Later on, there were some great songs that I never heard any other way than she would perform them, now. But for some reason, I don't like that as much on the older material. I haven't listened to the old songs a ton, so it cannot be nostalgia. Maybe I would actually prefer old Florence on everything...it's hard to say.
