Blaine brought the fruit with him... as someone as rich as Harrison Ford isn't going to remember what fruit he had in his bowl. So when David first gets there he places the fruit he brought on top of the bowl. He forces the card through suggestion and then Harrison simply opens the orange to find the card inside which was placed inside beforehand just like this. The real talent here is getting someone to pick the card you want. But he also had to hope that Harrison would pick the right fruit. People usually pick the one on the top so luckily he did that. If he failed I'm sure he just wouldn't air it OR David has said himself that there is no set start/end to any of his tricks he does them as he goes along, so if he failed or messed up he would just come up with a different outcome on the spot that's just as impressive. He explained it as someone playing music live and jamming.

Yes it's the same as the trick where you manipulate them to 0ick say the king of clubs then throw the cards at a shop window and the king of clubs is on the other side of the store window. You can also have someone in on it then sign the card and transfer the signature to a duplicate card by setting fire to it

This is slightly right, but wrong I believe. I believe he used sleight of hand to put a card in the fruit. I believe he had 5-9 repeating cards that are the least chosen when someone asks to pick a card. Then I bet he has decks each with just the symbol sorted so that he can easily pick the card Harrison says it is. Meanwhile he cuts the fruit not Harrison. Which is why I believe he used slight of hand to put it in there

This is a cheap version. The David Blaine trick he asked the person to think of a card NOT pick a force fed card. then he tells them the card they picks has left the deck. All the time the person is holding the deck looking for the card. The card ends up in the fruit. How about a demonstration of THAT.

Well I was showing how you would perform it live. Being a magician, you lie to the audience the entire time, that is your job. When I perform I do not say "This is a setup deck... One problem - Blaine had Harrison Ford VISUALIZE a card in his head. Ford never picked a card at all, he simply thought of it. Blaine asked what the card was and immediately cut open the fruit revealing the card. If Ford wasn't in on it, how was this done?

Most people when asked to think of a card, will pick a standard range of cards, one being the 9 of hearts that Ford chose. Blaine has several of these popular cards in various fruits, therefore the whole bowl had to be rigged. When Ford revealed it was the 9 of hearts, Blaine guides Ford to pick the Lemon because he knows that card is there. At least this is my theory, but not sure if it stacks up. Great trick though

David Blaine gave Harrison Ford the deck, asked him to pick a card in his head, then told him look for the card and that it wasn't there (Blaine didn't touch the deck), then had Ford grab a fruit and put it on its side where Blaine cut it open sideways with a knife and the card was rolled up inside _pointing vertically_... so he couldn't have stuck it in the top or bottom like this guy was doing. It was either in the fruit beforehand, or he stuck it in while cutting it (less likely), and auto-suggested the card to Ford, or Ford was in on the whole thing (not likely), or David Blaine really did read Ford's mind and teleport the card rolled up into a fruit Ford randomly picked.

so the thing about David Blaines trick is he says think of a card and then the card has disappeared from the deck before David even knows what the card is, then the card is spoken out loud and appears in the orange. That is the most important part of the trick so unless that part is staged and they are all in on it, im not sure how this is done. And your demonstration is something that is not magic, its obvious.

Ary anna This is actually very similar, if you want to know how David did it......easy! he just got Harrison Ford to focus on 1 particular card! by doing this he may have flashed that card before performing the lemon trick several times until he knew Harrison was convinced without even realizing David forced a card on him....but to perform the trick? David would have spent much time practicing this on people in order to fool Harrison and id say his trick would have failed many times, you can give it a go but unless you are good at reading peoples mind then you should probably not even attempt David's way due to you being laughed at when they see its not there card in the lemon :))

Marcin Wojciechowski There are some shuffle tricks that keep the card on top of the deck when you shuffle it. Look up the Turkish shuffle. Also see the video on the best card trick ever that will explain a similar trick.

You could use a vanishing bag, or if making them disappear isnt an option, just get rid of them all together. Tell your audience you are throwing them away/burning them/etc. Hope this helps, -Trevor

To everyone asking about how david blaine got the spectator to visualize cards, my best answer to u is: camera cuts No hate on blaine, but as magicians we all know theres no such thing as "reading your mind", blaine's trick on jaden smith's iphone was the same, i know cus i bought the trick and my guess is it was a camera cut when blaine asked smith to visualize the card. Im almost certain a camera cut was used as theres no way blaine could change the deck in the photo after smith thought of the card AFTER the picture was taken. Then again, i could be completely wrong about this and blaine may be using a certain method to do his tricks (like number guessing) As for how blaine got the random fruit, i have no idea XD

I think for the picture on the phone trick, it was not a trick with the picture but with the cards. He forced a certain order and facing of cards, and then switched them when he handed them back to show they were 'random'. Again, this is a perfect example of a common card pool choice and forcing a card on someone.

Great job. One additional idea that really makes it seem impossible is to put the loaded fruit into a fruit bowl of like 4 similar fruit, remembering the location of the one fruit that is loaded. Then after burning the ripped cards, have then pick 2 fruit, then narrow down to 1 with magicians choice or equivoke so when the spec “picks” the final fruit with the card inside, it will really sell it as a masterpiece.

David Blaine does Magic. This is a "trick". The difference is that magic (at least real magic) is supernatural. Anyone can do a trick. This is still a very good trick, and if you can pull this stuff off, I would consider you a magician, because there is a lot of technical stuff involved that most people couldn't pull off.. Forget David Blaine though, he's like the only magician do ever do the stuff he's done.

+khubaib maqsood You need to know how to force them to pick the right card, the way you shuffle the cards and ask them to pick one is key. I don't know how to do it but I know of the method used. It's an illusion of choice were you control the outcome threw your skills with the cards.

+khubaib maqsood If you watch this guy's performance of the trick, you will notice the queen sticks out. "Let's say they choose this one"...the truth is, he forced them to choose it. Just as he did in this video, if someone said "stop" he would continue until that card...but because he'd do it so quickly, they should not pick up on it.

Most people seem to be here for the Blaine/Harrison Ford trick. If you notice you don't get to see all the things that Ford and Blaine have done to get to the point that he asks Ford to pick a card. I believe he did a number of things prior to put a strong suggestion into Ford's head to pick the 9Hearts. Before they ever started filming he would have had that orange placed. If you listen he asks Ford to "pick a piece of fruit THAT WE CAN OPEN". It was a bowl of apples with 1 orange sitting on top. Nobody "opens" an apple, but they do open oranges in a way. I mean he could have gone under the orange and grabbed an apple but it was unlikely and worth the risk to Blaine and he probably would have subtly suggested that an orange would work better (but maybe then it wouldn't have made it past the cutting room floor and into the special). It was impressive that he was able to almost guarantee Ford would pick the 9 of hearts but there is also a ton of research into how to plant suggestions and I'm sure Blaine is an expert.

+MrTomservo85 When he cut the deck in half he uses a "pinkybreak" which means he put al the cards on top of his pinky. Then when he riffle the cards and someone says "stop" he just put the topcards of his pinky. Pretty sure you can find a tutorial :)

Thats not the hard part of the trick, of course Harrison was gonna pick the fruit on top, hes not going to dig in the bowl, so David really just needs maybe 4-5 fruits to put on top. His crew could have done it while David was speaking to him in another room.
