I have never checked out this singer Arnel before. I have heard all the comments about oh he’s not Steve Perry . No he’s not . But then nobody can be Steve Perry but Steve Perry ! This guy is fabulous!!! I don’t know where they found him . But God Bless Journey for finding him . My Lord the guy can sing the songs . He not only sings them but does it with style and grace . I have to say watching some of the old Journey videos is hard . You can tell that Steve and most of the rest of the band did not get along . Steve looked to be alone out there ! Maybe there is a bit of a friendship between Steve and Jonathan. But that’s it . This guy has fun with the rest of his band mates ! Like I said nobody will be Steve Perry . But give this guy a chance . He’s fantastic

They found Arnel on utube performing in a Journey tribute band.

Perry took Journey to be the top All American band, but he also caused its decline when he took a 10+year absence in 1989. He regrouped in 1998 only to back out again before their scheduled concert. When talks of a replacement started, Perry sent his lawyer, why? It seems like his message was, if he can't sing, nobody can. This is the same mantra of his die hard fans. The founders (Schon, Valory, Smith) got legal ownership of Journey while Perry was awarded royalties for his songs. They hired Augeri, Soto and finally Pineda. Today, they have become a multigenerational and global band.

I don't understand why a lot of people still can't accept Arnel as a part of a journey band. Just be grateful for this man's (Arnel) contribution to continuing the legacy of Steve Perry's songs and making the songs and band alive as much as he can. Just accept that steve can no longer sing. Remember, Steve loves Arnel to keep his songs alive. Yes, there is always an original and it's normal we can't compare the TWO different talents but please just give respect to this man for keeping the journey alive.

A lot of it had to do with their ex sound engineer not feeding Arnel the correct audios. Dean covers this in an interview. Once new sound engineer was hired, it was like regaining eyesight again.

This guy nails the vocals as well as anyone could outside of Steve Perry himself.... Anyone who thinks it's easy to sing at that level for 2 straight hours has never been a singer in a rock band....This is an epic performance akin to running a marathon. Arnell is very, very good, and it takes a lot of talent and training to put out that voice and energy for 2 hours. Kudos!

Boss, I'v been singing since childhood but I cant even memorized the lyrics of my favorite song, I play guitar always looking at the songbook. How much more to memorized all those songs, what an incredible memory to sing all those songs.

There are a lot of very good Filipino singers, and Arnel is one for sure. My wife is Filipino, was in a band for a long time, and sang with one of the most famous bands in the Philippines. Most of her family members play some instrument. For many them music is a way of life that they grow up with.

Arnel had been a Marathon Singer since he was a teenager catering on US Servicemen in the clubs outside of the 2 large bases in the Philippines. He had been singing in clubs Hongkong also until Neal found him in the Philippines. He had already more than 30 years of singing experience when Neal saw him in youtube. He isn't new. He is a well-oiled seasoned veteran. He was much better in his younger years.

I'm two years older than Arnel. When I was still in college. I frequent some bars around Manila. I first saw Arnel in Shakey's Taft Avenue in Manila with his band Ijos band. He was only 17 and he was already very good. The second time that I saw him he was already the vocalist of Journey. While vacationing here in the Philippines, he visited a few bars to jam with the local musicians playing in the bar. He was with his former bandmate/ guitarist with his former band Zoo. He perform acoustic. He was better. His composure,his voice is from another level. His exposure in the international music scene made him more spectacular. Fantastic experience as I was just below the stage, 4 to 5 feet from him while watching do his thing. I approached him after his performance and we had a short conversation. He's very approachable and kind. Thank you Arnel for bearing the flag of our country in the international music scene and showing the world how talented Filipinos are. Good health dude!

Arnel Pineda have a brilliant voice. Steve Perry the same. They have both brilliant voice. They are both gifted and talented. As a musician considered myself. Had a gifted voice took voice lesson in Community college in San Diego. And had voice lesson privately. Arnel, is a Tenor and he seriously hit the high note. But like we are a human he get tired and of course changed his voice like everyone else. Arnel, seriously fitted to be the lead vocal of Journey in my judgment. Neil and Jonathan had the best judgment to hire Arnel Pineda to be their vocal lead singer. He has the best voice to be and join this Journey musician. Journey band leaders are very lucky to have Arnel Pineda to be the lead vocal singer. Awesome! We have to be proud that Journey had this guy. The best band ever in Rock and Roll. God bless America! Arnel is beyond remarkable, Journey got lucky to get him, if u have never heard his cover songs before he signed with Journey, he could have signed with any band, I'm surprised that Loverboy didn't try sign him after he sang with them,,, dude is a legit chameleon, he can sound like almost any artist, Guns N Roses and Axl has a voice of his own and Arnel sounds just like him when he sings GnR songs, Steven Tyler, Freddy Mercury, even peter Cetera, and Kenny Loggins, Arnel is a remarkable artist and Journey should be beyond thankful that they got him because so many older bands can't find a decent replacement and struggle to stay on the scene while Journey is still going strong

Thank god Arnel figured out he's voice problems. Turns out he couldnt hear himself properly during concerts and that had been going on for 14 years... and he hired a vocal coach. He sounds amazing now. I hope Journey comes to Europe and Finland!

I would almost say Journey are in their prime nowadays. While a lot of the older rock band struggle to replicate original vocals with their aged original singer, Arnel manages to sing up to the highest notes.

I wish he could sing more but I heard in one of his interviews that at LIVE Tour, he could only sing once.. At times, if the schedule of the Tour is back to back, he refuses to sing the next day..possibly because he exerts so much energy with the drum work.. Hopefully, he's not touching drugs anymore..
