So many great players ignore the value of traveling down the line because they see pros with dime point accuracy drop the cue ball on the line as they come across. Following this ultra valuable tip will elevate any game, even some pros. 😀

Thanks Niels. Great walkthrough, well paced and structured. Im average player (UK) so for me, ball in hand can be almost overwhelming, especially when there are fewer balls remaining. Throw in a ball over the pocket (I watched your other videos on this) and it becomes a lottery! But I am now trying to always think about the potting line and shape zone of my next shot. Thanks for all this great content.👍

I liked the second one the most. Is there a way to place the cue ball in the third examples so that side spin isn't necessary? I also liked following your analysis of how to get the cue ball to go into the line, rather than across it, especially by using follow, which is easier for me than draw.
@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen

In the third example you need a touch of spin to come a bit better of that second rail 👍🏼

In your last situation, would you ever consider playing the 1 at a slight angle in the bottom left corner and simply bump the side rail and play a stop shot on the 2 in the top right corner (as seen in the video) ?
@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen
@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen 3 жыл бұрын
Good thinking! However I like to come into the shot into the side pocket because that shot is very easy when I get into the line of position. The position from the 1 to the 2 in the top right corner requires a lot of extra work and a potential tougher shot.
@noonedude101
@noonedude101 2 жыл бұрын
@@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen I also thought about playing the 1 to the bottom left and coming off the left side rail for the same position you were getting into with the other shots, but I couldn't tell based on the camera if that would require bridging over the 3

Hay Niels in shot 2 instead of going 2 rails for a position for the corner Pocket play 3 rail position for the side pocket or the upper corner it gives two options side pocket if you undershoot it you can you very easily carom off the ball that would be in the way I don’t know the colors anymore if you overshoot it you can play it in the corner the only risk is getting hooked behind that one ball I believe it was the six ball. And on the 3 shot Why not instead of going to rails out of the corner position the Q ball to follow and bump the purple ball half ball hit slow speed moving the purple ball closer to the Side rail and also achieving the correct angle

8 ball in a bar box is a tough tournament to win. People look at the table size and think it's easy. But a small table presents many challenges of space. Big table 8 ball is easier to run out In my opinion

I came with a solution for the 2nd senario, which is shootng the 2 to the bottom left corner with an angle, let the cue ball bump the side rail (close to the middle pocket), and then go into the line for 3. Not sure if this is applicable?
@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen

It's good thinking! But...you're not coming into the line of position. There's just very small area of position where it's really good. If you hit too soft you're frozen on the rail, bit too hard and out of that nice angle right away. Tnx!!

Question, Neils. In the thumbnail, would it be okay to follow into the 3 4 and separate them since the cue ball will still stop in line for the 2 and is technically still rolling along the shot line? Most amateurs would struggle getting perfect angles every shot, so creating extra space might help and the shot would only require floating the 1 in instead of a faster follow stroke which most tend to rattle due to unintended side

Running into balls randomly without knowing where they go could be asking for trouble. A lot of times you get hooked. It’s part of the process. In the beginning the position won’t work but over time you get better and better 👍🏼😄💪🏼

What kind of light is over the table? The balls have almost zero shadows and I don't see light hanging as normal lights do.

BIggest ball in hand error I see is players putting it TOO FAR from the object ball. Ideal distance is about 20 to 30cm

On that second pattern I started playing the shot like you showed and its easier than the way i used to play it which was the Z shot. Why is that?

@josephgardner3208
@josephgardner3208 3 жыл бұрын
@@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen yes. i would play it with an angle so the cue ball would run into the side rail and play the Z where is could play 2 rails off each side rail. i believe i figured out why its more difficult is because the sensitivity of the speed plus accuracy required to hit the second rail in the correct spot.

Awesome. Really helpful as usual. Thanks for helping improve my game. Coming into shot lines is the best way to play for high percentage second shots. I don’t always see the first shot though. These concepts will help a lot. Thanks Neils!
