I was in Galveston until 6-11-24 on vacation for 17 days. It was great. I have fished in this pier many times in the past. I used to fish off of the Texas City Dike 8n 1988 and 1989. I caught a lot of 35 pound black drum there in March.

I caught a few that size many many moons ago on 61st pier { back when it was an actual pier }. What makes them so hard to bring in is their wings when they cut sideways, like pulling a damn Volkswagen in water.

you can eat them stingray i saw landshark outdoors or maybe it was deermeatfordinner do a catch ‘n clean ‘n cook on em one time. Heck a four foot stingray dang that’d be a lot of meat! I dunno maybe they are not good anymore, that big. Anyways I’m a newer fisherman but I hope to one day catch and keep some eating sized stingray. Of course watching out for the barb too.

The wings are delicious. Butter and garlic smoked over charcoal with a little mesquite. Not much mesquite as it will overpower the delicate wing meat. Plenty of cartridge for texture.

bru why cant they just not have the sharks completely destroyed when they throw them back. its not hard to not hold them by the gills and throw them around on the concrete.
@3rdCoastFishin2 жыл бұрын
I don't know bro you should have seen what I edited out
@AnimalBro2 жыл бұрын
@@3rdCoastFishin that proves my point more bro. Its not much more effort to be gentle and make sure they live. Shows zero respect to the fish and if they cant respect basic c&r practices they should stop fishing for them or keep them. otherwise its a complete waste.
@3rdCoastFishin2 жыл бұрын
@@AnimalBro smh I know
@nozrep2 жыл бұрын
them sharks are damn tough. it might look bad and I actually agree with you they ought to learn better fish handling and they ought to choose to be more ethical anglers, but the sharks survive just fine and heal up real quick if they’re not gill hooked. damn tough critters.
@nozrep2 жыл бұрын
@@AnimalBro also on your second comment, that one would have been illegal to keep. Texas rules they gotta be like, 60 inches or something crazy big like that, to legally keep. Can’t remember but I think some might be unregulated. But that one was one of the regulated species. I dunno though, anyway that’s what I remember reading on the TPWD fishing rules website maybe they changed it.
