About the blast cabinet, use the 80 grit media from harbor freight. It is almost like flour. Do not use sand, it ruin the tips and the inside of the cabinet. I have the same one, the media is very fine. I used it on cam shafts and crank shafts. That's how fine it is. The powder picks up easily. I used mine on every piece of my engine. Also works great on nuts and bolts. Especially body bolts. Makes them new again. I've also used it on spark plug. Cleans them like new. I used it on all of the parts on my injectors. Keep in mind that my diesel engine is the 7.3 powerstroke. She runs like new.

I bought an Airdog lift pump on Amazon and had it installed by a local shop. The quick fitting for the fuel return at the pump outlet was leaking (very slow drip) and they could not get it to seal. That evening, I registered the pump for warranty on the Airdog site and mentioned the leak in one of the form fields planning to call them about it the next day. I received and email from them first thing the next morning saying that they were sending out replacement parts immediately. That's pretty dang good business, in my book.
@davidfrank28243 жыл бұрын
The update on the blast cabinet is worth every penny. You could actually put two cups of media and then start cleaning your parts. Even when you finish there is still plenty of life left and whatever material you decided to use. Like what you were saying about the pickup hose. That's the biggest problem with that blast cabinet. Another good thing to do is the silicone all the seams or use the tape that AC and heating guys use to seal seems in between the ductwork. Home Depot and Lowe's always have it on hand. It looks like aluminum with a sticky bottom. You also are going to want to use your shop vac to clear the dust out when you're blasting. There's diagrams online that will show you how to convert a 5 gallon bucket into a dust trap so that you don't suck out all your media. Look forward to watching future videos on this build.

I have a similar but older cabinet. I did a lot of work on the parts for dad's LB7 while it was all torn down. I wish he would have sprung for some ceramic coating while we had it apart. I found that on aluminum, #7 glass BEADS was the way to go for cleaning parts up. Crushed glass left too much scratching on the aluminum. The beads polished the aluminum. The media that strips stuff off of steel quickly will eat your aluminum too quickly. If your air gets too wet, it'll plug things up, and it'll take forever to blast something. I had to drain my tank every 4-6 cycles, and we're not anywhere near as humid as you are there. Also, things went a lot faster when I cranked the pressure to full send, at 150-175psi. But it loved to plow the air supply line to the gun off. I'll add that a bigger nozzle for your gun might be needed. (that's what she said).

Awesome video!! I have an LMM in a G3500 Cutaway that I am thinking of doing a few upgrades too for better air flow, a little more power, and I’m interested to see if my mileage improves or decreases with better air flow... On side note; the HF blasting cabinet is a pretty good little cabinet. I added a shop vac with a dust collector in between to keep the cabinet air clear to see what I was doing and I also added better lighting...I also use coal dust as it is more abrasive and blasts a bit quicker. I’m looking forward to seeing your next few videos; keep up the good work 😊

@TruckMaster3 жыл бұрын
Definitely 👍
@jakerisner41393 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same but watching it again I have to imagine the PPE manifolds will flow better because each cylinder has its own exhaust runner and its flow balanced (why each runner gets longer). While the HSP manifolds do look great, they are basically just larger, ported factory manifolds. A better test would be to use a temp gun and check each cylinders EGTs.

Also try draining all your media back out and use a sharpie to draw a line in the hopper approximately 12 inches up from the bottom and refill it to that line. The more media you have can cause too much downward pressure and hinder the pick up process.
